  • RKC level 2 instructor

Currently, I am the owner of Rhodes Fusion Fitness which is a kettlebell, self defense, and yoga studio in the Chicago area where I teach self defense and group kettlebell classes. I chose FUSION in the name of my studio, because I am fusing all of the the knowledge from a lot of great instructors as well as personal experience as a former practicing chiropractor, competitive athlete, and martial artist. I really enjoy taking people and helping them to restore their function with flexibility and mobility training, their coordination with martial arts drills, and their strength and conditioning with HARDSTYLE kettlebell training. It is a point of great pride to see people achieve their goals and to see their excitement when they make changes with themselves.

10/10 Quiet and effective

By Patrick M / Chicago, USA

Attended the Chicago RKC, and needed work on my getup before I became an RKC. I scheduled a meeting with Prentiss to have him review my getup since as a Team Leader, he had the power to pass me on the spot.

Instead of just saying "ok let's see it", he worked with me for over an hour and we made a ton of progress. I learned some great cues and imagery to fix the things which caused me to fail. At the end of the session, I had learned a lot, but more importantly, executed the getup so much better than I ever had. Passed the test.

Prentiss isn't a rah rah guy, and you can tell he is always thinking. You'll always learn something when you work with Prentiss.

10/10 Fitness world best Kept Secret!

By Lance Sr. / Chicago, IL

Before I came to Prentiss, I felt something was missing from my regular workout at the gym. I had been researching on the Internet about kettlebell training and read about Prentiss. This was the best decision I made to begin his classes. Each class session never fails to amaze me. Even in a group of people, it feels like the workout was custom made for me. Under his guidance and motivation, I have lost 15 pounds and gained muscle definition throughout my whole body. I was fortunate to find this elite instructor in the Chicago area!

10/10 INSPIRED

By Tracy / Chicago, IL

INSPIRED...That is how I feel when I am around Prentiss. Not to just be the best for myself, but to also be the best for him. I see daily how he puts his mind, body and soul into his teachings & I want to work just as hard for him as he does for his students. He spends time outside of the studio studying, mastering his craft and learning more about the human body, kettlebells, fitness and nutrition. As a former collegiate athlete, he has helped me train my way to better basketball shape, conditioning and balance. I am now a better basketball player, but most importantly, a better all around athlete with a great awareness of my own body. I appreciate his hard work, knowledge and zen. He is THE best & I am SO fortunate to be one of his students!

10/10 The Teacher's Teacher

By David Guzman, CPT / Chicago,IL USA

Prentiss is the teacher's teacher. We could use some more of this training.

10/10 Great Workshop

By Erwin J.C. Tan M.S. ,CPT, LMT / Chicago,IL USA

The workshop helped me to address my strengths and especially my weaknesses in various exercise movement patterns by elevating my awareness in my biomechanics throughout an exercise motion. It has given me significant information on how to demonstrate and corresct kettlebell drills for me and my clients

10/10 Great Workshop

By Heather Johnston / Chicago,IL USA

Great...Clear..Concise

Prentiss as always was very approachable and had great explanations.

Thanks

10/10 Good Teacher

By Gretchen Collins, Director of Fitness EBC / Chicago,IL USA

I liked the workshop because Prentiss explained the movement, showed it by example and let us practice. His knowledge translated directly into the exercise. I also like that he came around and checked form.

10/10 Great workshop

By Steve Rozholl / Chicago,IL USA

The workshop had a great structure. It was well orientated and dictated.

10/10 Well Organized Workshop

By Jack Gallen / Chicago,IL USA

This workshop was well organized. The floor was always open for questions and Prentiss was professional and well mannered. He pointed out how one needs to explode from the hips and legs properly. I recommend this class to anyone willing to try and find their strengths and weaknesses

10/10 This Workshop was Well Done

By Donna / Chicago,IL USA

There is nothing like simple, plain English instructions...no fancy jargon. The workshop was well done and easy to understand. I had a good workout even with the instruction.

Thanks

Complex Training: How To Transfer Strength To Skill

Jan 19, 2012 11:30 PM

You need more power! You need more running! Sometimes, the words still ring in my head from my training partner at the time, Kestutis Arbocius. He was a world class Shidokan fighter from Lithuania who came into the gym to train. He would always say this to me after we had just finished sparring a few grueling rounds after which we would strike the focus pads for a few more rounds, and later finish with some heavy bag work. Always thinking I needed to dig deeper, I did what any fighter...
