Dr. Michael Hartle, Senior RKC, is a chiropractic physician. Raised in the frozen tundra known as Minnesota, he once lived in Hawai'i while his father was stationed at Pearl Harbor during Vietnam. He has been practicing in Fort Wayne, Indiana for the last 16 years. A nationally-ranked powerlifter, who has won several national titles with USA Powerlifting, Dr. Michael is also the Chairman of the Sports Medicine Committee of USA Powerlifting (USAPL). He was the Head Coach of the USAPL World Bench Press Team for 8 years, winning the 2004 World Team Title. For the last 5 years, he has been playing semi-pro football, defensive tackle, and loving it! He treats, trains and advises to all kinds of patients, from babies to the elderly, from youth athletes to NCAA student-athletes to professional athletes. He has three sons who keep him busy with their personal endeavors, including hockey, baseball, football, and of course, academics. You can reach him at www.chiropower.com.

10/10 Inspiring, Knowledgeable Big Guy... but MN Nice!

By Steph Myers, RKC / Lansdale, PA, USA

I happened to be up in the UP of Michigan with my Dad... also just so happened that Doc was putting on his Advanced Strength Workshop in Duluth... two hours away! Had to go!

The workshop was informative, practical, and Doc made it personal. He taught in a listen, watch, do format... which I love!

I was able to take many of his techniques home to PA to use personally.... after having abdominal surgery, Doc showed me do's and don'ts... which I applied for over a month now. I can say that the spinal flossing techniques, Hartle plank, and swing variations accelerated my recovery! I now have the green light to TRAIN again.... but will keep up with Doc's techniques.

I also applied these techniques and Doc's strength techniques to training with clients. They ate it up! One hubby and wife team would prob. send .... :( .... after they experienced Doc's bear crawls/ Hartle plank combo.... love it!

Thanks, Doc. We met in San Jose RKC 2009.... again, Duluth, 2010... looking forward to more!

If you have the opportunity, no matter your fitness knowledge or level, I would highly recommend Doc Hartle... as a chiro, coach, trainer, or workshop!!!

Respectfully,
Steph Myers, RKC, Myers Team Fitness

10/10 Advanced Strength and Speed Strategies Workshop

By Sheila Hamilton / North Vancouver, Canada

This was an informative workshop that I hope Dr. Hartle makes into a full day. He presented some great new mobility drills, foam rolling techniques, and ideas for programming. Very hands on information that I have been able to use for my work right away. I enjoyed his attention to detail from an anatomy perspective. There were excellent handouts and demonstrations, and then time to practice. He has wonderful enthusiasm and knowledge for the subject matter - I loved it!
Thanks Doc!

10/10 Expert Instructor

By Kelly Scott, Resist This Fitness / Fulton, MD

I am lucky that Dr. Hartle was assigned as my RKC team leader. In my opinion, his passion for strength is paired with a strict adherence to RKC standards. His appreciation for the art and science of human movement resonated during his instruction. If I lived closer to him, it would be an honor to be one of his students. If you have the opportunity to train with him, do not pass it up.

10/10 TEAM HARTLE FOR LIFE

By Michele L Neil DO / Tulsa, OK

Being a part of TEAM HARTLE was a profound and solid athletic event. I was well prepared ( that process was not easy)...I have to express how impressed I was with your commitment to keep the work safe and solid. The failure rate was the most impressive to me. It really, really, really established a new sense of respect for this art and the commitment to keep it high quality. Not just any one can do it. It is so important to uphold that standard and with the numbers growing I am so inspired to know that the quality and the fortitude of what is expected remains Un faltered and Un moveable. The bar is set high--

Also taking time away from your clinical practice to inspire and teach each and every one of us demonstrates your level of commitment

Strength and Wellness to YOU

10/10 Epitome Of Awesomeness

By Kristina / San Francisco, CA

Had it not been for Doc Hartle, I would have had to use my legs as my arms to make it through the RKC weekend. I have to thank my team leader, Jeff O?Connor for introducing me to Doc. I went into the weekend with a flared up elbow and a bad shoulder. Doc took the time, even after everyone else had left, to help. I felt safe pushing my limits knowing that Doc was around. People like Doc make me want to join the RKC family even more.
At the end of a long weekend, when everyone else would have run away as quickly as possible, Doc stayed to work on my arm on his time. How many people would be so kind? Doc was my savior during the weekend. I give my full endorsement to very few people, but Doc is one of the best, and I am extremely fortunate to have met him. Had I known about Doc Hartle when I lived in B'ton, IN, I would have driven the 180 miles to go work with him. If you get the opportunity to work with him, consider yourself blessed.

Doc Hartle is the epitome of a great doctor.

10/10 The Doc was in

By B. Bulera / Minnesota

The crticism that the Doctor shared made me better at what I love to do. He gave the right balance of tough love that the RKC requires. I thank you for that sir. I have improved my form and technique with kettlebells frim the instruction of Dr. Michael Hartle.

10/10 Extraordinary

By Franklin Herman, RKC / Acton, MA USA

I had the honor and privilege of being a member of Team Hartle as an RKC assistant at the June 2010 RKC Level I Certification. I was completely blown away by how knowledgeable, attentive, supportive and humble a man Michael was. As a result I'm a much better instructor now having had a great opportunity to work along side Michael. And Michael walks the talk! This man is a tower of strength and a master of RKC school of strength. I cannot recommend Michael highly enough!

10/10 Great Team Leader and Instructor

By Jackie Peyton, HKC / Crown Point, IN

I attended the first ever HKC workshop in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on January 29, 2011, instructed by RKC Team Leaders Dr. Michael Hartle and Andrea U-Shi Chang. It was such a wonderful experience for me and I credit it to the expertise and knowledge of Dr. Michael Hartle and Andrea U-Shi Chang. Together as a team they were impeccable with their training and demonstrations. They were extremely disciplined and demanded the best from all participants, while at the same time, provided the right amount of humor and attentiveness to everyone. I can't thank them enough for the invaluable training I received. I'm honored to have been a part of Team Hartle-Chang.

10/10 Last One Best One

By Maria Burk, RKC / Valparaiso, IN

That was the mantra at the June 2010 RKC for everything we did. But Doc isisted that EVERYTHING we do during the cert be our best. As RKC Team Leader, Doc Hartle provided a balance of demanding perfection and teaching at the same time. His leadership was exemplary and it inspired a close bond between Hartle team members. Doc was also attentive and giving to other RKC candidates not on his team, giving adjustments and treatments when needed, even if it kept him after hours. I'm proud to say I achieved my RKC with Team Hartle!

10/10 We do it HARTLE Style

By Robb Reed, DC, RKC / Perham, MN

Doc brings the heat when he needs to with his tremendous knowledge and technique, but is quick with a smile or light hearted comment to "break the spell" when needed. Highly recommended as an instructor and trainer!! Part of a phenomenal experience at June 2010 RKC in St. Paul.

How a 44-Year Old Chiro Beats the Butts Off 22-Year Olds in Semi-Pro Football—And Other Tales of Kettlebell Power and Glory…

Nov 10, 2011 04:00 PM

Dragon Door: How did you discover kettlebells? Dr. Michael Hartle: Through a colleague in the strength and conditioning world. We talked about it and he had mentioned Dragon Door, so I looked into it around 2002-2003. I bought a 16kg and a 24kg, then they sat in my gym. I have my own facility for physical therapy and rehab with our patients; it also doubles as our training center. The kettlebells sat in the corner gathering dust...

Hartle-Style and the RKC Snatch Test

When I first took the RKC Snatch test in April of 2006, I was required to snatch the 24 kg kettlebell 74 times, without setting the bell down and being only allowed one hand switch, period. There was no time limit but the only rest you could have was at the top in the lockout position. When I was in this position, I would make sure I had my hand open, even for a brief second. If the kettlebell touched the ground at any time during the test, the test was over.
