This past weekend I attended the Raleigh, NC RKC with Master RKC Keira Newton and I was blown away. Her professionalism and attention to detail are extraordinary. She started the weekend off by setting us all at ease. We were all nervous about the snatch test and right away she made us feel that it was going to be fine. After that we got to work. She is so experienced in what she does and has a way of making every move look powerful and graceful at the same time, while explaining all of it in an easy to understand way. Her eagle eye caught everything we needed to improve upon. She was quick to call us out when we were performing a movement in an unsafe manner but also very encouraging in correcting us. Thank you Keira for all you shared with us this weekend!

I decided to do a boot camp in 2012 after reaching a low point in my life. I had a friend who'd been training with her and decided to jump in with both feet. I was certainly intimidated at first meeting her, but I haven't looked back. I have a long way to go on my fitness journey, but I've come so far already with the support and tough love of Keira and her entire staff. I can't imagine training anywhere else with anyone else! Physical results are not all I've experienced, and I'll be forever grateful for that. She is the level of experience I will continue to aspire to.

I moved to Santa Fe to train with Keira after falling head-over-heels in love with kettlebells. We started training for my RKC May of 2012. After a few sessions Keira understood that she had her work cutout with me... I knew nothing and honestly wasn't in that great of shape! After 10 hardworking months, tears, laughs and a friendship I will always hold dear to my heart, I headed to St. Paul to conquer my dream of being a RKC Instructor. I was immediately recognized as 'one of Keira's', for she is famous in the RKC World for her perfect form and the grace and elegance she brings to kettlebells. She expects her students to be flawless and she worked months and months to get me there. Her ability to see what needs work and know exactly what to do to fix it comes from years of experience and a determination to be one of the best... which she absolutely is! If you ever are lucky enough to train with Keira take it! Her talent is mind blowing and her style fun, you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I have been messing around with kettlebells for years. We are not in the fitness industry as personal trainers and it's not our careers. My husband is in the Army and I work in healthcare. We signed up for the RKC instructors course in Denver initially. Due to the Army changing his schedule, we decided to go to Sante Fe instead. We made the 5 hour drive, not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly greeted by everyone at DKB and began our session. Keira and her entire staff were so incredibly friendly, professional, and very informative. Keira has an eagle eye and can spot things from a mile away. She is extremely motivational and simply enjoys teaching. She taught us so much and we are eternally grateful for her, and the DKB staff's professionalism and expertise. Definitely an experience to take us to the next level with our training to live an even more healthy and fit lifestyle.

A devastating medical event 7 years ago ensured that the road back to health, fitness and well-being would be long and arduous. Having all but given up pushing the immense boulder up the steep hill I wandered into DKB sick and tired of being sick and tired. My entry was Boot Camp. But Keira’s keen eye, expertise and training knew that I needed more. With individual sessions tailor fit to my needs and schedule, she slowly helped me build strength, perspective and confidence again. Keira and DKB Fitness are UNBELIEVABLE! I was always athletic growing up and have tried several different workouts over the years, but since meeting Keira and joining DKB my body has changed and tightened up in areas I didn't know were possible. Keira is an amazing trainer and motivator, and I've actually grown to love her grueling workouts! She is incredibly knowledgeable about the human body, and a big stickler for correct form to help steer clear of injuries and maximize a full body workout. Many changes have occurred in my body since joining DKB. At an average attendance of 2 classes per week (lucky if I can make 3!) I have noticed changes in a leg that had been shattered in a riding accident a few years ago. Increased muscle definition – I had given up on it looking anywhere near the other (normal) leg. Increased extension – my norm is hyper flexion 7% - it now appears at least “straight”, whereas I could not truly straighten it at any time after the accident. Flexion has increased as well – I can now sit in a “yogi” position with soles of feet together, whereas previously the compromised leg could not be flexed inward to meet the normal leg. I hope you get the picture! Also, in the right light (LOL), I can see a six-pack!

Having had a professional career as a dancer/choreographer spanning 25 years, I can say that I have obtained visible/measurable results from DKB in a shorter period of time than with any other training method.

Training with Keira at DKB has tranfsormed my life. My partner and I signed up for a bootcamp in January 2011 after a series of failed attempts to get fit through other exercise programs. I had heard about Keira and her kettlebells through quite a few people and decided that if it worked for them I'd give it a shot. The bootcamp was at 5:30am and gruelling but the energy was high and the trainers supportive. My goal for the bootcamp was to lose 10 pounds, gain more energy, and win some controll of my sugar addicted mood swings. The bootcamp provided those things, and showed me, through keira and her trainers, that a level of health and fitness i associated with professional athletes was accessable go me.

Keira has created a space that is friendly and supportive, a place where I always felt challenged to work harder and reach higher but in a way that made me feel good and strong and well loved. As a martial artist I have sustained many injuries through careless movement, and among the things I so appreciate about DKB is that Keira is rabid about form. She knows how important proper movement is and trains her students and instructors to pay attention to form at every moment.

I have become excited about health in a new way training with Keira and her team. Dkb's emphasis is not getting obsessively skinny but on getting strong, and learning to use your body like a high performance machine. This is the training that each of us gets at DKB, real personal training lead by people who love what they do.

Keira, Mark and their team at DKB have created something powerful. I have not only seen improvements in my martial arts training, but am learning about the neuropsychology and exercise, diet and longevity. So inspired by my experience at DKB, I have earned my HKC and am training towards my RKC in hopes of helping others make similar transformations in their lives. Thank you Keira!

This has been on my to do list for some time. In September I had the pleasure of being Keira's assistant at RKC Chicago, then observe her train at the recent body weight workshop. Keira impressed me with her patience, knowledge, ability to teach, strength, as well as her upbeat/fun demeanor. If I have one issue with Keira, it's she lives too far away to train with regularly.

DKB Fitness is unlike anywhere else I have worked out; it’s a remarkable place. In a sense, Keira deconstructed and demystified everything I have ever learned about fitness and nutrition. With so many trendy fitness places in Santa Fe, I was thrilled to find a place that wasn’t creepy or gimmicky. Working so intensely affected me much further than my classes at the gym. Through a 12-week boot camp and other classes, I realized a broad sense of improving the quality of my life. Plus, the welcoming atmosphere of DKB set aside any fears or intimidation of a class environment. The most remarkable thing is that I became less concerned with an end product or weight loss goal. It has truly become part of who I am.

My wife convinced me to try DKB Fitness after I saw the great results she had achieved for herself. I participated in Boot Camp which was perfectly tailored for learning proper kettlebell form without over doing the workouts in the beginning. It was still the hardest thing I have done in years. Then I went on to join the Advocare challenge which help me set my goals and good eating habits. I actually found cutting out certain vices not as difficult as I thought and I have not looked back after 5 months and 50 pounds weight loss. I have never been so tone in my life and am enjoying the benefits of being fit from running to mountain biking - it all comes much easier now. I was not prepared for the added expense of buying new clothes as my shirts have gone from XL to L and my pants from 36 to 30! Keira and her team are excellent skilled motivational trainers and while the workouts are never easy, the are completely effective when combined with a proper diet at reshaping what I thought was not possible.

In 2009 I took my first class with Keira. I was unbelievably impressed with her astute ability to take 20 of us newbie’s through a whole new world of exercise. Her concern for our safety as we learned these new skills was extremely important to Keira, as well as making it a fun experience. She is an excellent teacher, encouraging us all to reach our goals and to feel deeply empowered as we commit to a life of excellent health.

I most recently completed a twelve-week boot camp and a six-week extreme fitness class with Keira. As a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, a mother, a director of a healing center and the founder of a nonprofit organization, I have an exciting yet very demanding life and schedule. As a result of working with Keira, I am able to manage the dynamic demands of my life with much grace and ease. At the age of 46, I am happy to say, I feel stronger inside and out than ever before. It is wonderful to feel this way and fun to share these benefits with everyone else in the class. We have shed pounds, inches and fears while gaining overall wellness, friendships and personal awareness.

I feel strongly that Keira and DKB Fitness is a blessing for Santa Fe; where she has created an excellent class structure and a supportive community. We all have not only gained core fitness but also the courage to go beyond our comfort zone, and to apply these new strengths into our personal and professional lives.

A friend of mine first told me about DKB a few years ago and suggested that we join. I checked out the website and thought I would never be able to do kettlebell. Although I have always been athletic, I suffer from chronic joint pain in my hands and wrists. A few years passed and the undiagnosed joint pain remained along with my sluggish metabolism and extra pounds. I checked out the DKB website again and learned that Keira was also a Feldenkrais practioner which told me she knew a lot about body mechanics, alignment, and would not let me hurt myself. I picked up the phone and called Keira. I told her about my joint pain and asked if her if she thought I could do kettlebell. She explained to me that many DKB members suffer from various injuries and that I could do modifications. She encouraged me to attend a skills training class to see if I liked it and judge for myself. Well, I loved it! I joined the 12-week DKB Bootcamp the following week.

Kettlebell is different from anything I have ever done – I’ve played sports, I’ve danced, I swim, I’ve completed a half marathon and a triathlon. Keira and her team of trainers at DKB offer the best total body workout anywhere. Keira is very attentive to each member -- she knows us each personally and knows our strengths and weaknesses.

Keira has helped me to stay focused and to work through my physical limitations and to get what I need out of each class. Because of my joint condition, I can’t engage in high impact activity and I can’t use heavy weights, but she has helped me learn how to keep my heart rate up and keep moving throughout class. Keira is definitely the best trainer I’ve ever had the pleasure to know and work with.

Kettlebell has made me stronger and more confident than ever. I have now lost 23 pounds in six months and, even though my joint pain is here to stay, I am feeling happier in my body than I have in years! Thank you, Keira!

I have often felt that my body was failing me. But, since joining
DKB, I have realized I had been failing my body.
Starting in my 30's I had weird symptoms and ailments that seemed
to indicate some sort of auto immune disorder. (I was tested for
various diseases which were, thankfully, ruled out. ) But, I really
felt old beyond my years, and constantly achy. I had joint pain all
over. I had neck pain that gave me headaches and left me taking
ibuprofen all the time. I believed 'this is how everyone must feel,
it is part of aging and these are just aches I need to endure'.
In addition to this, for many years, I was the same weight. I
exercised some, biking and jogging, and ate what I thought was a
relatively healthy diet.-No fast food, no high fructose corn syrup,
no partially hydrogenated oils, no fried foods... Then, at 42, I was
suddenly 10 lbs heavier and found myself a bit too happy when I
discovered jeans that had a secret elastic waist band. Feeling
depressed, fat and lacking muscle tone, I tried to shed those
additional pounds by making more of an effort to consistently get to
the gym. I was running on a treadmill, spinning, did a little bit of
lifting weights, and got nowhere. Three months of working at this
intensely, on my own, did not change my body at all.
This is when I came to DKB. I was totally ready to try whatever
the DKB team suggested. I honestly did not believe gluten
intolerance applied to me (although a little research pointed at
every health issue I had) Since trying out a new way of eating, as
suggested by the trainers, doing a cleanse and attending kettlebell
classes, I have lost those 10 lbs, become more tone, and incredibly,
have not had pain in my joints, nor headaches stemming from neck
pain. I have not even felt the need to take ibuprofen, as I once
had, almost daily. Living without the joint pain that I once endured
(and assumed I would always have) is life changing. I am a work in
progress and I finally feel as though I am on the right path. I feel
younger and more fit than I have in years.

10/10 DKB - Intuitive, functional and versatile!

As an OB/GYN physician in Santa Fe, I have only good things to say about Keira Newton and the wonderful people she has working for her at DKB fitness. I am overweight and exhausted. I have two small kids and work at least 60 hours a week, delivering babies and doing surgeries at all hours. I know that exercise will be good for me, but when? and how? So - on a whim - I tried kettlebell (one of my employees is a devotee). It struck me how intuitive and functional the movements are. They strengthen the back like nothing else. It is so much easier for me to get on the floor with my kids, reach down to deliver babies and hold my body in the non-ergonomic positions that are necessary for performing surgery.

When you go to a gym, you frequently feel a vibe, an agenda, a focus. Sometimes they only want beautiful people working out. Sometimes they only want serious weight training people. There are many different iterations of the vibes that gyms have. Keira has a positive, generous energy that seems to empower the people around her to seek their own goals, without putting judgements on individuals goals. Because of this wonderful energy, Keira has grown a gym that serves a wonderful diversity of individuals who come together to workout utilizing kettlebells. The people working out and teaching truly have an inclusive attitude which is very rare at the majority of gyms one might experience.

The other amazing thing about the DKB community is the attention to safety and form. As one can imagine, swinging around a large weight, especially above your head, could really hurt you. All the trainers and even the other participants watch each other to make sure no one gets hurt and everyone has good form. People and patients tell me they are doing kettlebell with a video, or at another gym, and I just try an emphasize to them that they need to be careful. Lifting and swinging a kettlebell in the wrong way can truly cause pain and injury. Keira and her crew don't sacrifice safely for Anything. I really respect that!

Keira and her DKB Fitness is a blessing for Santa Fe. She is ethical and caring in the conduct of her business. I think the only risk is that Keira will become too sought after as a trainer and a true leader.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Keira while attending the Chicago RKC. While I was not as prepared as I would have desired or was necessary to earn my certification, Keira was extremely patient and generous with her feedback and support of my efforts. Prior to attending the RKC certification, I had no prior formal training with an RKC other than attending as a "victim" at last year's certification in Orlando. Consequently, I had some bad habits that I had accumulated while training on my own. Keira was instrumental in helping me correct the majority of those bad habits in a relatively short period of time. I still have a substantial amount of work to do in order to earn my RKC, but suffice to say, it would be virtually impossible without Keira's help.

I was fortunate enough to have found Keira & DKB at a point in my life where I'd nearly given up the dream of being physically fit and healthy. Right from the beginning at DKB & the intro session with Keira, I began to find my inner strength. Keira & her team at DKB provide not only a great place to exercise, but have fostered a community that encourages each other to strive for great things not just w/in the fitness realm, but in our lives beyond DKB.

By designing different types of classes, DKB has a great variety of classes to provide an excellent source of a well-balanced workout regimen. All of the classes are challenging, but never does one feel pressured to go further than they are able. One of the greatest things Keira has taught me is the ability to listen to my body. When I first began going to Keira's gym, I wanted so much to just to blend in, which to me equated to either hiding in the back or wanting to do what the person (who had more experience) next to me was. Keira or one of her amazing trainers are ever vigilant in making sure proper form is maintained & no one is pushing beyond their capabilities. I had knee problems when I first started kb back in January, but I never felt singled out in class; however I was frequently reminded to slow down or do a different variation of a particular move. I am so grateful that I learned to listen to this advice, because now I can do a lot of what the rest of class does. I have developed the strength to now do those exercises. If I had done the exercises when I started, I surely would have had an injury.

I am so grateful that I now have a love for kbs & the desire to become as healthy I can while enjoying the ride. Keira & everyone (both trainers & members) have been instrumental in helping me transform my life both physically & mentally. I feel so fortunate to have found this in my life, particularly since I recently relocated back to the midwest.

Through my experience with DKB, I now view the process of finding the right gym as an important, yet fun episode in my relocation. It definitely does not feel like a chore, because I am taking care of me and by finding the right place I know I will continue to improve both outside & in. In addition to the amazing change in perspective, I also have the skills to properly vet potential gyms, particularly in terms of kbs.

Recently, I went to a crossfit intro session at a place that I thought had the great potential to become "my gym" . The intro session included some kb instuction from a trainer, who is not RKC or HKC certified, & without providing a brief beginners explanation of kbs or even teaching the deadlift, she was attempting to teach the swing in a manner that risked serious injury. I am so grateful to have learned kbs from Keira & her well-trained instructors, because I now know how important form is & how critical it is to be well-instructed in order to avoid injury & to get the most out of a workout.

After my experience at the crossfit gym (which there is no way I'd ever join) & DKB, I know that I will only train with kbs at a facility run by a RKC & ideally with HKC lead kb classes. I know I was very lucky to have been introduced to kbs at DKB.

I highly encourage anyone in the Santa Fe area to visit DKB, take an intro class & if possible, take their bootcamp. KBs is an amazing workout, particularly at DKB. It will make you look forward to exercise, healthy living & becoming involved with an amazing community both at DKB & on the DKB website. I miss DKB so much!

Keira's tough love is very much appreciated as it is evident that she only care's about the improvement of the person she is working with. I am certain that I would not have succeeded in the RKC if I was not on her team due to her willingness to accept from me nothing but my best effort. This past weekend I was lucky enough to have Keira as my Team Lead at my RKC in Chicago. From start to finish, her professionalism, support, and skill allowed me to learn and progress throughout the workshop, bringing home a greater knowledge and understand of myself and how far I still have to grow. Not only did her instruction help me correct several form faults, her confidence and support helped me work through several of my own personal road blocks as I realized I was not nearly as prepared as I had previously thought for this certification. I have tried all of the typical forms of exercise, and more, never really achieving total satisfaction.......until I found Dynamic Kettlebell Fitness!!!!! Wow.......what a workout! Keira and her staff are so supportive, dedicated, passionate about what they do AND encouraging of all kettlebell students to reach their individual goals and realize their potential to go beyond. When I started working out with Keira I was not happy with my body or my lack of strength, having 3 small children had definitely taken it's roll on my body. Now, thanks to Keira's amazing instruction, attention to detail and drive for excellent form....... I have lost more than 20 pounds, dropped from a size 10 to a size 4 and am stronger than I knew was possible! Additionally, my training with Keira has helped my asthma tremendously, an outcome that I had not anticipated.
I look so forward to my workouts at Dynamic Kettlebell Fitness that I hate to miss a single day! On days that I can't make it to a class.....my husband and daughters say I actually pout!

Whether you have trained with kettlebells before or not, you want to train with Keira Newton, and the team she's assembled at DKB (Dynamic Kettlebell Fitness).
As some of you are well aware, KETTLEBELL IS NO JOKE. If it is your desire to absolutely transform your body, and your life, training with Keira is the ONLY way to go.
She is honest, tough, yet loving, from the get-go. She does not tolerate the "I can't" attitude, and pushes you, in every moment, to have faith in your abilities, and build a trusting relationship with your body.
Keira consistently reminds you that the power you need, to transform yourself, lives in your mind. She demands that you remain conscious of correct form, and teaches you to coach yourself in your training practice. One of DKB's slogans is "we train athletes." I joined DKB bootcamp just two months ago, yesterday, and the transformation I am experiencing would not have occurred, had I not trained with Keira and her team. I have lost a substantial amount of weight, dropped in clothing sizes, gained muscle and definition, and feel I have regained control of my destiny. I am operating with a level of confidence, before unknown to me.

I am 36 years old and started kettlebell training 3 months ago. I was burned out and unmotivated in my traditional gym workouts- when I would even bother to do them. I had gained some weight and just felt blah. I decided to try kettlebell workouts because some of my friends were doing it and they looked good and enjoyed it. I quickly realized how out of shape I was cardiovascularly and every muscle on my body (even ones I didn't know I had) were beyond sore. I could have easily given up that first week- I even gained 2 lbs., but the support and camaraderie of the people in the classes kept me going. I was so amazed by these incredibly strong women (and men) most of whom were older than me, that I had a renewed sense of spirit and forged on! Within 2 weeks I felt stronger and I walked taller. I could get through a class and not feel like I was going to throw up! I could tell my endurance was building and my clothes were more comfortable. I was so proud of myself and I still am. 3 months later I still have fun in my workouts and I have yet to get bored or have any class be the same. I look forward to seeing my kettlebell friends and encouraging new members. I truly feel like this has changed my life in such a positive way. I get excited when sweat flies off my head now! I have lost about 6 lbs overall, but the thing is, I don't obsess over my weight or my appearance anymore- I just feel good about myself. I have always been an athlete but in 2001 I was hit by a dumptruck and suffered many injuries. After 3 years of PT, I was told "this is as good as it gets. You'll learn to live with the pain." Several years, and a few injuries later, I found Keira and told her what I was dealing with. I told her I was at rock bottom and she was my last hope at working out, getting healthier and getting happier. 3 weeks later I noticed a significant decrease in my pain. At week 6 I felt virtually no pain and my flexibility had increased enough that I no longer felt like the tin man. 8 months later I am 25 lbs lighter, I'm stronger, healthier and infinitely happier. Keira has done what doctors said couldn't be done. She is a true miracle worker.

I am a chiropractor, I have been practicing chiropractic for over 19 years now. Needless to say, I have seen alot of people with low back pain. Most of these people want me to "fix" their low back pain. My typical response is that, yes I can help them with their condition but ultimately they are going to have to do strengthening and stabilization exercises to finish the job and minimize future low back pain.
I also have a painful low back condition resulting from numerous sports injuries and automobile accidents. I chose to strenghten and stabilize my low back condition with the kettlebell workout program because of the combination of weight training with the low impact aerobic activity of the kettlebell workout.
My personal results have been very substantial...now my low back is overall absent and my strength is substantial, especially noticable with my two primary recreational activities; cycling and golfing.
Keira Newton and her staff have all been incredibly beneficial with helping me reach and maintain my goals. I have recommended her kettlebell fitness program to many of my friends, family and of course to my patients.

From the first time we met Keira during our fundamentals class, we were impressed by her skills, her attention to detail, and her knowledge. In all of the classes we have taken since that time, she has continued to ensure that each individual participant was performing every exercise correctly and with proper form, and managing to keep the whole class moving through some pretty rigorous exercises. We're a little older than a lot of the people in class, but have a great time with the exercises and enjoy the benefits of being more fit and a little lighter than when we began. We decided to try kettlebells on the recommendation of our daughter, a fitness trainer in NY. She helped us find DKB in Santa Fe through the web. Keira's classes are challenging, yet fun. She is a fabulous instructor!

Keira doesn't say much because she doesn't have to. I discovered long ago that people who talk a lot generally don't know what they are saying.
Keira was an Assistant Instructor on Team Jones at my RKC Level Two cert. I'm not sure she said more than ten words the whole weekend, but everything was fixed, everyone learned what they needed to.
As is the norm with RKC Instructors she is also very strong, handily swinging the 40 kg. kettlebell and crushing apples with her bare hands.
Okay, I made the apple thing up, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I've been swinging kettlebells at DKB Fitness in Santa Fe for a couple of months now. Keira has been relentless in her focus on my form. For as simple as kettlebell swinging looks, there's a lot of technique to swinging safely. Keira serves as a fantastic model of how to work with kettlebells. As a result of her corrections I am starting to gain confidence that I can progress to swinging heavier bells without getting injured.

That was the best class I have ever taken in my life.

I was working on a NASM certification some years back and was coaching high school track. Kettlebells and the various plyrometrics that are incorporated into the class are right along with what I studied about exercise science. I am hooked!

I wish I had known about this when I was coaching. The explosive power that this kind of training would produce must be incredible. I was thinking about accepting a coaching position this past year. This would have been awesome to take to the table.
Keira really takes her time to make sure that each and every student is successful and in correct form.

I began kettlebells with the hope to get healthy and loose the boring gym routine. I was intimidated by the kettlebell weight and moves, but Keira gets you past this so it is second nature within weeks. Keira's workouts, along with the other trainers at DKF are never boring and the progress I have seen with my body is tremendous. I have had chronic injuries that have vanished, usually after traditional weight lifting my bones would literally hurt and now I have never felt stronger. Due to Kiera's training and knowledge of kettlebells I have found a new passion in exercise and I thank her for that.

I have tried everything from traditional gyms to alternative sports like Roller Derby and Rugby. I get bored so easily in a traditional gym and find that sports seem too obligatory. When I finally tried Kettlebell with Keira, I knew that I had found my new favorite kind of exercise. Kettlebell is fun, challenging, and offers constant variety. I was never bored or under-challenged at Keira's studio. And, as opposed to my typical gym/sport experiences, I never felt myself making excuses not to attend Kettlebell; I was always eager and motivated to go. In addition, Keira's teaching style was exactly what I needed to begin kettlebell and constantly improve my technique. She provides equal and excellent assistance to all levels of participants and is able to provide attention to everyone throughout the entirety class. Also, Keira is an excellent motivator. If I ever felt tired or overworked, she could see that and helped me push through to get the best workout possible. I recently moved from Santa Fe and am devastated that I can't go to Keira's class anymore. I would love to transport her and all my fellow KBers to my new home. Kettlebell with Keira has been the best athletic experience I've ever tried.

After commiting to the DKB challenge( with before and after pictures) it was game on! And now here I am, 3months later, looking lean and fit! I lost inches all over my body and gained a fun,fast-paced energetic teacher to help me better condition myself for whatever comes next! I just wish I had found Keira sooner than I had! I began kettlebell training with Keira about one month ago, after dabbling with them in my home gym for the past couple of years, going nowhere, and finding myself spread in many awkward positions trying to hold a kettlebell while reading "how to" about specific movements from books! Just a hair from 50 now, with a former pro athlete background that resulted in numerous injuries, as well lifelong difficulty managing my weight, I now believe that proper kettlebell training holds a large piece of the solution for me!

My technique has improved immensely, and I can feel improvements in my strength and suppleness...even little things are becoming apparent; chronic SI and low back pain upon awakening is about 80% less, and right shoulder ROM has improved significantly. Stuck now in a very sedentary job, I find I can sit longer with far less discomfort and with better posture! Keira is patient and very specific in her corrections to form, and as all of us who move kettlebells know, this is vital. Watching her technique and focus is quite is experience in art and grace, and gives us all something to strive for!

I highly recommend Keira as an instructor. She finds all the little things that make the difference in kettlebell training a success, and this sport, like most of life, is often about the little corrections along the way! Thank you Keira for all your help!

as a martial artist, "kettlebell" keira newton has helped me to make gains that i never could have made without her expert instruction on kettlebell theory and technique. my punches have gotten stronger, my kicks harder and my grip, of all things, has become hard to break. the improvement has been dramatic, but what i haven't gained is a bunch of bulky muscle that can hinder both movement and speed. i weigh less than i did lifting traditional weights but feel much stronger. one of the most unexpected benefits of her training was an end to lower back and foot pain. as someone who works very long hours on film sets, i can be on my feet for fourteen to sixteen hours a day and chronic foot and back pain was ever present. the added strength to my legs and back has made that pain go away. as a result, i have recommended her to many of my filmmaking friends and cohorts and will continue to do so in the future. thanks keira.

So many of us want physical results without truly understanding how much work and sweat it will take to get those results. Keira pushes her students beyond what our lazy monkey brains tell us we 'can' do to the actual levels that we are meant to be at. I have seldom come across a teacher who is so technically skilled AND so good at driving her students to new and higher levels--all while keeping a very strict eye on form and each student's fitness. There is no fudging with Keira...no sneaking in one tired swing at the end of a long workout. She's on you until the very end to keep your form perfect and your body healthy. Keira's drive and attention to form keep me coming back month after month.

When I first read about Keira's KB program in the park I knew that type of workout was for me. I had been involved with a powerlifting program, which I really loved, but found that hard to replicate on my own during my out of town journeys. So, I dove into KB and never turned back, with patience and her firm guidance I learned many KB skills that has made resistance training fun and entertaining.

Why am I hooked on this workout? Well, I guess it could be that Keira always provides new challenges with each workout along with ongoing improvements with my skills. Since those days in the park she has created an amazing program for the variety of levels of participants with a studio setting, smart business website, and providing us with Z-health and FMS skills. She has recently gone the extra mile to assist each of us in our personal goals using KB to met them by setting up a challenge program and chat board. It is obvious she is serious about her KB skills and business as she continues to gain more training and education with KB. In return we all benefit from her continual growth.

I keep coming back for more - it is rare that I stick with a group program as long as I have with DKB, Keira and her KB team. It is obvious that I need their motivation and inspiration because I workout with much more intensity with Keira and her DKB team. This has been a fabulous adjunct training program that compliments all the other summer and winter activities/sports I like to participate in. I expect to be swinging, cleaning, pressing, and squating, until I am pushing up daisys.

As a professional circus performer and licensed massage therapist, I am "in touch" with my body and have a lot of experience in physical discipline. Keira's kettlebell classes are exceptional cross training for my duo trapeze and partner acrobalance work. I can even feel the difference in my body while practicing massage; her kettlebell form advice will often echo in my mind at work and I will adjust my body to a better place.

Keira is a meticulous and motivating instructor-since my return to Santa Fe from 2 years at The New England Center for Circus Arts, I have missed having coaches to push me further in skills and endurance. Keira's classes have been filling some of that gap for me. She has also helped me connect my upper and lower trunk muscles in a way that my circus coaches have not; I now have stronger, hanging and inverted, ab coordination and musculature.

Keira has a great pool of knowledge of form and function in kettlebell and calls me on it when my form slips, which I'm grateful for, as those are the times I am most likely to injure myself. She consistantly guides me in forward and helpful directions.

I love the workouts at DKB Fitness, I haven't felt a plateau yet! In her more advanced classes, sometimes I feel like I did 3 hours of circus training in 50 minutes of a kettlebell class.

At 39, to discover that I could love and crave exercise is amazing. Until I tried kettlebell with Keira I was the kind of person who would argue with myself about why I should exercise and often, my lazy side would win out. Now I crave going to kettlebell class and look forward to an intense workout - I honestly never thought I could say that about myself.

I recently finished the level II course and love the changes I'm feeling and seeing in my body. If I could fit it in my schedule, I would aim to take classes daily!

When I first started kettlebell I planned on working out primarily at home, mostly because of scheduling conflicts. What a testament to Keira and kettlebell that just a couple of weeks into it, I managed to find a way to go to class three times a week and I abandoned all plans to go solo at home.

I have never been big on group classes, largely because instructors have seemed too pushy, or too macho, or too mean, or too nice, or... etc. But Keira is really great -- her style is an excellent combination of support and positive criticism. She is careful, but lets you push yourself so you feel like you are getting results. She is obviously hugely knowledgeable. I am looking forward to her friendly, professional, supportive guidance as I advance in Kettlebell training.

I have always sought out instructors that have expertise in a particular area...yoga, pilates, the stability ball, as well as various forms of weight training. Many of these people were adept at teaching me the specific poses and form required to perform a series of exercises and movements, but none had the mastery and knowledge of the body that Keira Newton possesses. Her expertise in Feldenkrais gives her a deep understanding of the body that is essential to helping people overcome injuries and pain. Keira teaches complex technique and form in a way I have never experienced; she has the rare ability to focus in on each person, help them build strength and stamina, and guide them to the next level no matter where they are.

As an addict to physical activity, I was having a difficult time finding the time and the right activity for myself after my first child was born. Keira's kettlebell classes were absolutely the answer I was looking for. I've taken MANY different training classes, and honestly have never been involved with an owner/instructor with more professional integrity.

I started Kettlebell last summer without knowing anything about it other than it was intense, quick and effective. It is all that and much more and Keira is an incredible instructor. Keira is the BEST!!

after being dragged to my first kettlebell training class, which was 3 hours long and i was soooo soar in places i didnt even know i had, for 2 full days--
i returned the very next day to a regular class and have been addicted to kettlebell and Keira ever since.
i have been attending kettlebell for about 6 months and it has transformed my body and brain.
before kettlebell i had never been physicially active or had motivation to do a sit up let alone swing a kettlebell!! so thanx to Keira and her patience and support she has helped yet another person to be healthy, happier than ever, and motivated and addicted to kettlebell!!!
Keira is so addicted herself to her excersice and it shows---she looks GREAT and is the BEST instructor!! she is all about form and NO injury:) i thank God that i met Keira, she really saved my health!! and is a really nice friend to have........

I have never stuck to one workout regime for long.... and would never have thought I would ever find myself working out 4 days a week in the wee morning hours. But Keira and her kettlebell workouts have shown me a discipline I never knew I had. I started kbell in April of this year with the intention of cross training for a marathon, the marathon goal has fallen by the wayside because kettlebell is so much more satisfying than running! I love it so much I even purchased a travel kettlebell for overseas work travel within the first month of training and I have recruited my boss to kettlebell as well. She too has purchased a kettlebell to travel with.

Keira's instructional ability is unprecedented. She is a stickler for form and technique, ensuring that her students perform to the best of their ability. I look forward to my classes, they make my days infinitely better every time......

Through decades of working out with free weights and machines I've ended up with a couple of chronic injuries. I also used to get a sore lower back from the littlest things like working on my car, yard work, even just standing too long.
Then my wife found DKBfitness and Keira. Through Keira and KB's I've learned how to properly engage my core and support muscles, and now I can once again do all kinds of exercises I would have never thought possible.
Keira's knowledge of the human body, functional movement, and Kettlebell workouts have been a God send. Training with her is like having a personal trainer, physical therapist, and Kettlebell instructor all in one. And she's STILL working to learn more through higher certifications all the time, so she's only gonna get better!

I started Kettlebell with Keira in February of 2009. A few of my friends were doing classes and couldn't stop raving, and their results were easy to see. Having spent years in the gym training for competitive ski racing and soccer, and years in Physical Therapy after several knee surgeries, I was sure I would be bored. I have been addicted since the beginning! My strength and cardio have improved by leaps and bounds. I have been playing tennis, golf, and doubles volleyball for fun for the last few years, and my improvements across the board have convinced my husband to start kettlebell with Keira as well. In golf I can hit the ball much farther, and the increase in my stamina has improved my tennis game immensely. I have made friends with so many wonderful people through kettlebell, and now I have a workout that I can share with my husband, and I find myself excited to get to Kettlebell instead of dreading a trip to the gym. I look better and feel great, and my knees have never felt stronger.


Keira's commitment to excellent form and hard work have shown me that I am capable of more then I thought possible. I am so grateful that my friends got me involved in Kettlebell with Keira, the results have been life-changing, physically and mentally. After taking the kettlebell certification course I feel I can give Keira a better review. She totally prepared me for the course by teaching me the proper way to use the bells, the importance of safety, and gave great suggestions for sample workouts so that I could go into the course being as prepared as I could be. She was able to demonstrate great techniques, and takes pride in teaching her students proper form and safety. Keira is rock solid in her form and her ability to teach. She is an inspiration to me. Let me start by saying that, prior to joining DKB, I had not had any form of "workout" in over a year, had never been able to do a push-up (much less a burpee), and had the cardiovascular fitness of Jaba the Hut. Now, just short of two months of training with Keira, I have lost inches, gained strength and confidence, and have proudly survived a Quick Hit class taught by the drill sergeant herself and walked myself out of class with my head held high.
I am not one to stick with any kind of physical activity, as it usually grows boring and my motivation slips away, but I can not get enough of this exciting and ever challenging kind of exercise. I never dreamed that I could be one of those people who craves their exercise. I never thought that I could withstand the intense and addictively sweet beatings delivered by Keira, but I am slowly starting to realize that this time is different . . . this time, I can do this and I WILL ACCOMPLISH MY GOALS. All thanks to the support and relentless pushing of Keira Newton.

When I first saw a Kettle bell workout featured on TV it looked like so much fun I bought a dvd and 2 kettle bells. When I discovered there was a KB studio in Santa Fe I coulden't believe my luck... I signed up for the training class and meet Kiera in July. I first sensed Keiras commitment to KB, her knowledge of the body and how to protect it from injury. I also realized this was a serious workout. Keira makes every KB work out challenging, supportive and focused. I believe under Keira's coaching I will always have new levels of fitness to strive for. I'm been involved in swimming, riding and yoga for years and training under Keira has helped me refocus my personal goals in a way no other instructer has ever even attempted. She is a kick ass instructor and I look forward to training with her for a very long time.

I started training with Keira in January of 2009. I was on the search for real results after having had two children and dabbling with other ineffective workouts such as spinning and weight training classes among others! I can say that in less than a year my body has gone from feeling out of shape to feeling close to as fit as I was in college (when I incessantly danced flamenco and practiced yoga!).
I always had a hard time with working out for the sake of working out, however, in Keira's classes the purpose always feels clear: to give your best every time. The strength and general well being that I have gained have been remarkable. What happens in the studio you take along with you throughout your day- exceptional! Keira is demanding of her students and this is what makes her stand out. And as a student, this makes you realize that if she expects more, you can do more! She motivates you to motivate yourself!
Keira's knowledge and expertise also make me feel confident and comfortable when I am in class. I know that she is keenly aware of what everyone's form is like and is always making sure that no one is going to get hurt. She is attentive and always is adjusting your workout whether it is to take care of an injury or to help you to breakthrough to another level.
While Keira sets high standards for her students, she does so similarly for the RKC instructors she has in her studio. The true mark of someone who is successful in his or her field is when she has trainers who have learned from her and can stand beside her!

I'm 41 years old. I entered Kettlebell a complete novice, with a one dimensional fitness routine (soccer) and a tight muscled dilapidated body. The difference in my flexibility, explosiveness and stamina on the soccer field in just a few months is substantial. That is what I expected after hearing about the miracles produced by Keira and her program from so many people. What I didn't know would happen from her teaching is the change in my posture and that I could enjoy an activity almost as much as playing the beautiful game. Keira is everything you want in a Kettlebell instructor and more. Her workouts are hard but she has the unique ability to tailor them to each member in the class. She knows when to push and when it is obvious that you are nursing an injury. Her students reap the benefits of her PT background as she can not only quickly spot a break in form but can explain exactly why you are doing it and how to correct it. I haven't been this motivated to excercise in 10 years. I owe that to Keira. She's tough, she has eyes in the back of her head but I keep going back because I get results.

I have been training with Keira for about 2 months now and I love it. Its super hard but also super fun! I was at RTC Great Lakes Basic Training for the USN prior to this and I thought that was hard! I was in for a rude awakening once I joined with Keira! She is a great instructor and is always willing to help me on anything I cannot do right, she responds promptly to my e-mails and takes time out of her day to give me advice. Many people review an instructor on how well they teach or communicate with their students but fail to review customer service or ability to help clients out. Keira not only is one bad ass teacher but she is also a great shop owner. I have already moved up to level 2 training with her and still cant get enough! I know that I will reach all my goals because Keira will be there to help me along the way.

Background: Nearly 2 years of training, mostly self-taught from DVD's and books.

Like most folks, when something new and shiny comes out, we have to try it. For me it was VO2Max.

At first I had no problems with the program, but I was only doing 20 sets. Once I started getting closer to the proscibed 40 sets, I noticed a tightness in my low back. I knew I was doing something wrong so I sought out Keira.

I did a private session with her and realized I was not getting a classic RKC hardstyle lockout. She was able to give me some pointers.

I have since taken two fundamental classes with her to unlearn 2 years worth of not-so-good habits.
My next goal is RKC Certification and I will, WITHOUT A DOUBT, utilize her to achieve this goal.

I started kettlebell training with Kiera 7 months ago at age 50. As a long time jogger, swimmer, hiker and biker, I felt like I was in reasonable shape. Boy, was I wrong. Kettlebell is the best workout I've ever had and I feel stronger and fitter than I ever have. Even though I'm a pretty slow swimmer and runner, I've noticed a difference in my strength and endurance. When I got on my bike for the first time this spring and pedaled up a tough hill, I couldn't believe how strong I felt, first time out! As a person who has never liked weight training and/or the gym "scene" and also someone who underwent an angioplasty at age 46, I was a little scared to try this out. But I wanted to get stronger and do some weight training so I can lift my own groceries and move furniture around when I'm an old woman! Keira's Feldenkrais training and exceptional attention to individual needs and safety make her the best instructor ever! I so appreciate her attenion to form and to ensuring that we don't injure ourselves. She's able to do this for each of us even in the middle of a big class. I'm now addicted to KB and tell everyone I know about it. It's a great addition to my varied exercise routine. Two friends I haven't seen in awhile actually told me I look buff (what a thrill that was - no one has ever told me that before, with good reason) and it's good to know the hard work is showing. So not only do I feel much stronger, I guess I look better too! Thanks, Kiera!

She makes the effort to individualize workouts depending on students needs and skill levels, and she makes us safe while giving us the most challenging workouts of our lives. As a spin instructor and cyclist, kettlebell has given me the extra push I needed when feeling stuck and transformed my body and increased my strength and performance more than I could have ever imagined. I am a devoted athlete who over trained and plateaued.

It's my third week of training with Keira and I'm already noticing a change.
Suddenly, I'm feeling the need to flaunt my shoulders. My fractured foot is almost non existant.
The most profound shift is my rekindled sense of inspiration to rev up my workouts and be a better example for my students as I am also a fitness instructor of other modalities.

I've been a runner my whole life. So somehow that gave me the mindset of "if I'm running, I'm fit". Then my husband heard about Keira and kettlebell. He tried it out and was hooked after the first class. I thought well if he likes it so much, I'll supplement my running with it (it's gotta be better than lifting weights!). Well, not only is it better than lifting weights, it's the best whole body workout I've ever had. Kettlebell (and Keira)found every weakness I had in my fitness routine...no flexibility, no upper body strength. But through Keira's patience and expert instruction I've seen changes in every part of my body and my running. My (vastly) improved posture,upper and lower body strength really helps me to power up NM hills. I feel like my flexibility improves with every class. And who knew I had ab muscles! Thank you,Keira! As an trapeze artist and acrobat, I have beaten my body up in many ways and consider myself to be very fit. Until Keira introduced me to Kettlebells, I had never found a way to cross-train that I found both challenging and fun. Finally, I've found a workout outside of circus that is humbling and thrilling in it's intensity and butt-kicking ability. Keira's workouts have also helped me craft my circus conditioning sessions in a more effective way and become a better circus coach.
Last August, I had rotator cuff surgery from years of incorrect form on the trapeze. Kettlebell helped me recover my strength super fast, and I've been thrilled with how my shoulder has recovered. I have no doubt that Kettlebell, Keira's expertise and her dedication to proper form have helped my shoulder heal so well.
I will seriously miss Keira's classes when I move in a few weeks, and will look forward to visits back when I can I stop by and swing some bells with everyone!

I started working with Keira after a couple of friends started talking about how kettlebell had improved their fitness and helped them excel in their favorite sports (from tennis to horseshow jumping). I had started to play tennis competitively at the same time i started to experience para-menapause and had been frustrated by the persistent weight gain in my stomach region. When I first met Keira, she was so positive and motivating - her attention to making sure my form was correct reassured me that despite the difficulty - I wouldn't injure myself and miss the tennis season. Since i've started working with Keira, I've noticed that my body feels more toned and the difference in my tennis game is dramatic. my motion on my groundstrokes is more fluid and i'm generating much more power than i had before. All those swings and snatches are making a huge mark on my serve! I'm more explosive and quick on court and confident in my ability to perform at an increase aerobic level for longer. Keira is not only an amazing instructor, but she has also conjured up a wonderful group of people to practice with - making her classes not only painful (in a GREAT way!) but fun as well. And swinging around a kettlebell somehow makes me feel both feminine and badass :-).

I have been a competitive runner most of my life (the 800m in college, longer distances and marathons later), but have spent the last few years recovering from a knee injury. I have trained in many ways - from more traditional weight training, to pilates and yoga - all in attempt to get back into better shape. The results were OK, but not great, and I had begun to accept the idea that my running life was not viable as I had gotten older (I'm 42.)
I was a skeptical about kettlebells, but a friend had recommended Keira and raved about the results from her training, so I signed up for the beginning class. All the testimonials for Keira are true - she is remarkably professional, smart, and serious about the form, condition, and safety of all her students. And her excitement and knowledge about kettlebells is infectious.
I have now been training for just over 2 months, and the results from the classes have been amazing. Not only are the classes great, and easy to fit into my crazy schedule, but my fitness level has gone through the roof. I was recently in NY for a business trip, and decided to try a run in Central Park. I have not been running since I started kettlebells, but I ran 8 miles and it felt like nothing (with no knee pain!) I am total believer now in the benefits of kettlebells - and in what Keira can do as a trainer.

I have been a runner for as long as I can remember - now an ex-marathon runner. I felt I needed a change from running and couldn't even fathom returning to the gym and being a gym rat again. BORING.
I tried Keira's class - and I'm definitely hooked! I am so motivated by everything she has to offer - especially her attention to form and technique. Although I've only been to her classes for less than a month now, I already feel changes in my body and totally energized. I can't get enough of Dynamic Kettlebells - thanks to Keira!

I've been working out consistently as an adult for over 35 years and am familiar with many disciplines, training methods and teaching approaches, AND the inevitable boredom with workouts.

I've been intrigued by kettlebell for a while, but was hesitant to try it because I thought that the potential for injury was too great. Because of bone and joint issues, I felt that I had to focus on increasing muscular strength and I had plateau-ed in my current regime. So I investigated kettlebell training in earnest. When I asked my physician about it and she said that it would be great for me - she does it herself, and she highly recommended Keira as an instructor.

Keira is one of the most knowledgable instructors I've ever had (and that includes the 6-foot Amazon in the purple leg warmers in the 70's). She knows when to push someone, recommends good modifications when necessary, and she's a safety freak with acute attention to form. Keira has carefully created classes that are challenging, rather than competative, and she spends the time instructing, fine-tuning and correcting. She's excellent. After the first week of KB, my previous workouts became my easy days, so now I add my own KB session afterwards. After 1-2 months of KB, my knees don't scream on downhill hikes and my wind is much better on uphill.

Keria Newton has been an absolutely dream kettlebell trainer for me.
I am 53 years old and have worked out in the gym for over 35 years, using exclusively free weights and, on occasion, machines (pec deck, cables for chest work, rowing, lat pull down).
35 years is a long time to train using one method; the mind and body both become quite comfortably fixed in their respective ways, reluctant to part with the consoling patterns established through habit. At first, I found some of the motions and movements seemingly counter-intuitive and was frustrated at my inability to perform the exercises properly. But Keira has nursed me through the process of learning the basic fundamentals of kettlebelling, very carefully explaining to her endlessly inquisitive pupil each and every point in thorough detail along the way, guiding me gently but firmly through each new stage. She has a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of physical fitness--from kinesthesia and muscle, tendon, and ligament structure and function to diet and healthy lifestyle choices outside of training. She has thus been an absolutely perfect trainer for me.
I am thrilled with the mixture of aerobic and anaerobic components inherent in kettle belling (never having pursued the former), and am feeling results already, after only a few weeks' training. I very much look forward to pushing myself much further (and Keria s plenty tough, make no mistake about it--she pushes very hard when necessary!)in this new endeavor.

Up until about a year ago, I was a semi-professional beach volleyball player, competing in tournaments around the country. A severe abdominal injury (muscle tear)not only kept me from competition, but deconditioned my body to such an extent that walking distances was difficult. I had even learned to DIS-engage my core to avoid the pain of the injury. After 10 months of healing and at the recommendation of a therapist, I went to Keira, relying on her background in proper body mechanics to help get back in shape to try and return to competition. With a mix of personal instruction and classes, Keira helped me to re-train my body to strengthen and shield my core, stabilize and re-activate my neuromuscular system and build up my cardio capacity. After only about a month of working with her, I was able to return to the sand for the first time in a local state tournament. Not only did my body last the 9 games and ten hours of competition, we wound up winning the tournament, with my body feeling strong throughout, much to my own amazement. I am a former personal trainer, and having worked with Keira have to say that I highly regard her ability to recognize and make form adjustments and challenge her clients to reach their potential.

As a competitive rider, I already have very strong parts of my body. However, I have had weak areas and I have had to recover from injury as well. Keira and the kettlebell have given me a hard workout, but one that touches on every part and each muscle group of the body. No longer are my weak areas so weak: now I have an overall strength which has directly related to my riding. This training with Keira has been the only training I have ever done that has directly and noticably improved my riding strength and performance. I am lucky to have found Keira and kettlebell and I know that she will continue to support my weaknesses and strengths so that I can become more fit.

Kiera is an amazing and inspiring teacher. She writes incredible workouts and keeps us all in good body alignment. Because of her incredible knowledge of the body, she knows how to push us all to our edge safely. kiera is a manlier woman than any man i have ever met and she is whole head shorter than me. and i haven't grown since the ninth grade. through sheer intimidation she has managed to wrangle a group of 13 unruly and inattentive teenagers in line for two semesters, all of whom have learned great form and have become far more fit than they ever would have been despite the fact that half of them are serious soccer players and track runners.

I have had the chance of being in the class during my school year and have been able to work out several times a week and greatly increase my strength and my cardiovascular ability. It helped me tremendously for the swim season and cut a lot of time off of my personal favorites. For years the first day of practice had resulted in being extremely sore, but after this class, I was in shape for the swim season weeks in advance. Overall, it has given me a major athletic edge.

Keira Newton is either the world's greatest kettlebell instructor or she's a witch. I'm an average American middle-aged male - average, that is, if I somehow live to be 106. I've got bad habits. I've got my vices: good food, good wine, on occasion, bad food. I stay up too late & I have a 2 yr old son, so sleep is often an afterthought. I used to play team sports - now it's safe to say that I watch more sporting events than I participate in. I'm not a complete slug, but I have had trouble maintaining a consistent exercise regimen over the years. I used to run but now my knees hurt. I've joined a million and one gyms, lifted weights, done yoga, done Pilates; I've had a personal trainer. Repeatedly, I'll get to a certain point, what I'd call a medium level of fitness, and that's it; I don't seem to get to or maintain that next, higher level of fitness that I'd like to have. I have a partner who's a phenom when it comes to home workouts - even that doesn't rub off. To be fair, I can be lazy and if the workout is painful and/or monotonous, I'll lose interest. One of the first things about kettlebell that truly appealed to me was the idea of a short yet very intensive workout with someone who makes sure you are doing it right. Keira explained it this way," The workout may only be 45 minutes but it will be a full body workout. And, because I'm watching & instructing, you'll work a lot harder than if you were doing it on your own. And you'll do it correctly."
"Perfect", I thought, "I lack both time and discipline!"
Now it is many months later and while I still struggle with some of the forms I am definitely seeing results. Even when I am laid low by one child borne germ or another and miss a string of classes, I can't wait to get back. It's addictive. I am stronger & am achieving a more complete level of tone than I have found in many years of weight lifting and other exercise regimens. I'm not a joiner of cults, clubs or causes, but in this case I'm drinking the kool-aid. The fact of the matter is: if Keira Newton can train me and get results, she can train anyone!

I'm an active woman, 35--I run, do yoga, bike, hike and am generally moving all the time! After a few friends from different circles started talking about KB-- "it's addictive" "it's so fun" "OMG you should see my butt!" I had to try. Keira Newton is my first KB teacher, and from all feedback/everything I've read, she's one of the best--"there aren't many teachers like Keira, Santa Fe's so lucky!"

I am of a slender/athletic build and generally take pretty good care of myself; but KB is taking my fitness and my body to the next level. I can do pull ups now! and have significantly firmed. My fears of bulking up were ungrounded--give it a couple of weeks and you can see the difference, feel the difference...I can't imagine my life or body without KB and Keira--luckily I don't have to!

If you find yourself in Santa Fe, you definitely should visit Keira's classes--great instruction, solid motivation and pushes to success are a daily event. She is amazing with anatomy and alignment, and I trust her feedback completely. A consistent SI joint injury has greatly improved with KB and Keira's attention. Thank you!

I spent several months searching for a KB instructor to study with and found Keira 5 hours from my home in Colorado. I chose her because of her because of her back round and the connection I felt speaking with her on the phone. (Not to mention she is an incredible physical example of what KB's can do for you. Beauty, grace and strength-Keria has it!) As a fitness instructor and body worker I have high expectations of what I expect from a teacher and Keira did not disapoint. I recently had the opportunity to meet Keira at the San Jose RKC where she was an assistant coach on my team. Keira was bustin my chops all weekend regarding form and technique. She is tough and has a good eye for areas of improvement. When it came time to test I had an opportunity to practice in areas where I was weak Keira was the first person I went to for help. Keira is unbelievably strong and flexible and is a good teacher. I appreciate her approach in improving my form and showing me the proper way to perform at the highest level. I have participated in endurance sports(marathons and century bike rides),for the past 10+ years. I thought I was fit. I was WRONG!
For the past two years I have participated in a special training class for a local 100 mile bike ride. Part of the training involves a fitness test that requires the cyclist to ride a stationary bike while wearing a heart rate monitor. The cyclist goes through a series of drills to elevate his/her heart rate to an anaerobic zone and then see how quickly the heart recovers within a minute. Last year I and a recovery drop from 160 to 125 in a minute. Not bad. THIS YEAR it dropped from 161 to 99! The coach's jaw dropped to the floor when she saw my numbers. She wanted to know what I am doing different. I said," Kettlebells!"Amazing! I feel stronger than ever. Every class of Keira's is truly dynamic, fun, a great work out.

Now with Keira's expert training I have been consistently increasing my strength and technique. This workout has finally helped me start changing my body and has been the only workout I have had success with. Keira is meticulous in her attention to technique and motivating to push harder for my goals. I am in my midlife and lost alot of muscle mass over the years, but now that I am gaining it back I feel less tired, my mood has improved, I actually have less aches and pains. As a physician I am certainly aware of what to do with diet and exercise but this experience has driven home to me the importance of gaining back muscle mass and I am recommending it to my patients. When i first saw kiera doing kettles, it was at daytons bluff, where she was clearly above the rest of the other rkc's who had gathered for the weekend-! I was impressed with her strength focus and smoothness of each kettlebell lift, but the one thing that really stood out to me was her determination to master every lift they were showing us, deligently she perfected each lift, almost constantly challenging herself to learn it inside and out, good enough wasn't good enough for her, you kinda got the sense that kiera doesn't ever wanna be a good rkc she wants to be the best- and if you ever worked with her you know what i'm talking about. Before I tried Kettle Bells, I had been doing weight training in a gym for 3 years. I had not been able to work in cardio so felt this hole in my training. I have been doing KB now for 3 months and feel my body as a whole is stronger than when I trained at the gym where particular muscle groups were very strong but all the connections were weak. The cardio in KB has helped me tremendously in my martial arts training and in daily life. What would have winded me before is a piece of cake now. I challenge anyone to give KB a try and see if it doesn't increase your strength and endurance for whatever else you do in life. Keira is a great instructor who wants to help people learn the proper technique so that they grow in strength and reach whatever goals they may have. Thanks Keira!!!!!!!!!

As a former cardio girl, I had very little core or upper body strength. I was always in decent shape but never in amazing shape, and I never knew how empowering it would be to be so strong. The immediate goal was to be able to wear all my jeans comfortably and now that those are literally hanging off of me, I have discovered this intense passion to push my body in ways I never knew possible, what a triumph!
With Keira's guidance and dogged training, I have transformed my body and gained an abundant appreciation for my inner and outer strength. I love Keira's spirit and the way she inspires us as a class to push through the pain and keep going. Being in her gym, is so addictive, and I love the comraderie that we all share in watching one another excel. I know that I have received excellent training and receive ongoing guidance, both in perfecting my form but also the much needed encouragement and reassurance to use heavier weights and to keep adding more techniques.
Kettlebell Mania is sweeping its way through Santa Fe. I truly believe the program to be awesome, but I want to recognize that without the spirit, guidance and encouragement of our very spunky and gifted trainer, that it would not have been the life altering experience that it has been for me.

I have watched Keira's evolution from kettlebell enthusiast to RKCII.
Keira has pursued KB knowledge in the RKC style when she first came to take a few lessons from me to correct her form and see to see if I could take her to the next level of training. The thing I noticed about Keira from the beginning was her intense focus when she was in our sessions digesting and transferring new information into her technique. Her graceful movement was now becoming powerful from her continued practice. I had a great time teaching her-
This woman was making many trips from Santa Fe to Albuquerque to pursue and perfect her KB form and repertoire. I was so impressed by this. I learned that one of her passions was helping teenagers in Santa Fe with physical fitness. She was utilizing the RKC principles of strength and kettlebells to enhance the lives of children in an age where fitness is often overlooked and under appreciated. This showed me yet another dimension of Keira. Her kind and giving heart.
She next approached me to assist her in her preparation for her RKC
Instructor Certification. She was diligent and thorough in her preparation. I happened to be an assistant Instructor at her certification weekend. I believe that Keira's Feldenkrais education, her a comprehensive understanding of the body and movement, her attention to detail, and personal strength make her an ideal Kettlebell instructor. I have trained with other instructors who were good, however, nothing compared to the attention and thoroughness I experienced with Keira. Her initial one-on-one session (an integral aspect of Kettlebell, ensuring the proper form, thus minimizing potential for injury), was incredibly thorough, and Keira was patient and concise. The classes are intense, energetic, as*-kickers! I sweat as my heart pounded mercilessly, but left the classes feeling invigorated and strong, while noticing dramatic physical results, quickly. I believe Keira's KB classes have been some of the best work-outs of my life.

As an avid athlete, I have a great deal of respect for Keira's dedication to instructing specific form, and making sure her students get the most from each session. I have been training with Keira since July, 2008. I heard that kettlebell training was a great way to increase strength, endurance, cardio strength, and tone the entire body. Wow, was that an understatement! I was surprised at how quickly my strength really improved as well as my cardio endurance. This is the toughest workout I have ever done, but the results got me hooked on kettlebell immediately. This workout hurts so good!! Keira is an amazing trainer and has continued to push me to the next level while ensuring that my form was correct. When I was struggling to master the snatch, she continued to work with me until I got it! The classes are amazing and push me to my limit each and every time. As a 50 something year old female who knows how important strength training is for preventing osteoporosis and maintaining strength for a healthy lifestyle, I have found a friend in Kettle Bells. As someone who hates gyms, but enjoys challenging workouts, I am totally hooked on Kettle Bells. Variety, challenge and success are the things I can count on by going to Keira's carefully constructed classes. I know she has an eye on my technique, so if I am practicing at home and come back to class with questions or form that may not be up to par, I am certain to have support from her and her watchful eye. Keira already had a solid background in movement analysis and understanding from her Feldenkrais background and carries this keen insight to her teaching. While targeting some muscle groups, the Kettle Bell technique requires whole body coordination that make the strength training more well rounded than an ordinary workout. By combining weights, aerobic challenges and endurance in the workouts, it is a total fitness experience. When I was in my late 20's and early 30's, I was a serious citizen nordic ski racer. I just assumed those days were behind me, but in just 3 1/2 months of training with her, I felt strong enough to do what I had not felt ready to go back to in 16 years and compete again. Thanks, Keira, for teaching me something I hope to carry forward for a very long time.

If you want to workout with Kettle Bells (and I can't think why you wouldn't), it is crucial that you have a good teacher. With Keira Newton, you have a great one. She has years of training and experience as a Feldenkrais Practitioner, which means that she is highly trained in the art and science of movement and that she has worked with many people, of all ages and with every imaginable injury or problem, to help them move better. This expertise she brings to her Kettle Bell teaching. When you work with Keira, you will get your form right- and you will get maximum benefit from your workout, with very little chance of injury. So why do I workout with Kettle Bells? Well, after 7 months of Kettle Bells I have lowered my resting heart rate, increased my strength and endurance, lost 15 pounds and gone down 2 pants sizes. And it's fun and hard and never boring. That's why.

After breaking my leg (and tearing my rotator cuff) snowboarding and re-breaking my leg while training for a marathon I was afraid that I was doomed to a life of boring gym workouts. After my first Kettlebell training with Keira I was sore virtually everywhere and couldn't wait for the next class. Training with Keira has gotten me strong and lean faster than any other sport or exercise I've done, and never aggravated my old sports injuries. Keira's extreme attention to form at all times has protected me from injury. In fact, my various torn and strained ligaments/muscles/joints barely bother me anymore and I have strength and stability like I haven't had since High School.

I found Keira through an article in Outside Magazine. I had heard of Kettlebells in the past as a personal trainer but had never experienced them.
Now as a recovering personal trainer( As Keira likes to refer to me) I have taken to Kettlebell training with a new passion and enthusiasm mostly due to Keira and her studio. She has worked with me one on one to bring me up to speed and be able to participate in classes with the proper technique and form. She is very strict about this. She understands the body very well from her back ground in Feldenkrais method. I have felt completely relaxed and confident in her training and coaching of kettle and have learned a lot about my body that came out in the training that I did not know before. Her personality and attitude make me and the class want to work hard and do our best. She is tough but keeps us laughing and knows when to slow things down if need be.
I feel very fortunate to have found Keira first and have such a strong base of training to start from. As I transition to moving to California I am missing Keira and her studio and will always check in with her as I progress. I look forward to her next course in Feb.

In that time I have lost 20 pounds and have noticed how much stronger I am. My cardio strength has improved dramatically. One intangible to training with Keira is the camaraderie that has developed among the studio members. The conviviality and encouragement that Keira inspires really makes a hard workout enjoyable rather than simply manageable. I am about to move back to Houston and among the 5 things I will miss about Santa Fe is Keira's kettlebell class.

Thank you, Keira, for helping me to improve so much. You are an inspiring teacher and an amazing woman.

I never thought I would be in better shape at age 46 then I was at age 18- But I am- Thanks of course to Keira- I first learned of Keira from a friend whose body had been transformed in just 6 weeks- I begged her for her secret- All she said was 2 words- Keira and Kettlebell- I called dkb fitness immediately and began my training with Keira- A few months later I feel like a spartan queen- Thank you Keira.

You know you are a devoted, happily addicted, kettlebell lover when;
1. Your husband asks you on a scale of 1-10 of how excited you are to get back to dynamic kettlebell fitness class after being away for the Thanksgiving holiday and he answers 15 for you by the gleeful look on your face.
2. When"Kettle" becomes a new and frequently used vocabulary word
2. When your dreams actually involve cleans, snatches, and swings.
3. When you feel so good you actually consider (and do on occasion) taking two classes because of your new superwoman strength and endurance
4. When you (for old times) get on the treadmill and get off after 5 minutes because you know in the back of your mind you could be getting a much better workout swinging a Russian bell
5. When you just want to hang out and workout with Keira all day because of her kindness, enthusiasm for life, amazing eye for technique, motivational teaching, and her desire to see you reach lofty goals.

I have been taking Keria's classes for three months and feel a powerful transformation happening on a daily basis. My newfound quest for strength has eclipsed the need to fit into the societal skinny woman box. I am stronger, leaner, with more sustained endurance than ever before. I have also noticed tremendous gains in my tennis game with increased power, shoulder stability and overall agility on the court.

I feel like I've found one of those rare and wonderful things that appear in one's life and demand that you embrace it with all you've got lest it slip outside your grasp and you miss a golden opportunity. Kettlebell--a phenomenal, unparalleled fitness paradigm--met its match when it found Keira. Discliplined, knowledgeable, compassionate, humorous, and drop-dead gorgeous to boot, Keira is the real deal. Santa Fe is running, not walking, to get in on the ground floor of Keira's Dynamic Kettlebell Fitness studio. That she is thriving--in the midst of the worst national economic downturn in recent history--says all one needs to know. I have worked with DOZENS of physical fitness trainers and taken hundreds of fitness classes in Santa Fe. None can hold a candle to Keira. She has changed my life. And I am not one to give such an accolade lightly. Keira Newton is, hands down, the best fitness instructor to hit Santa Fe in decades. I can't wait to see my body in one year.

I had heard about kettlebells for several years, but after seeing her incredible physique, I knew Keira Newton had what I wanted. I've only been training with her for two months, but I've already lost an inch off of my waist. Nothing escapes her sharp eye. She sees every mediocre swing and corrects it immediately.
She's an awesome instructor with an infectious positive attitude. Her classes leave me feeling high for hours! No matter how hard we work, she's always ready to assign us one more killer set to finish.
Keira seems to attract like-minded students, people who are really dedicated to becoming kettlebell fanatics! The classes are upbeat, positive and fun! Spend some quality time with Keira and let her magic infect you, too!

I have been taking classes with Keira Newton for less than two months. In that short amount of time I have made dramatic strides in my strength and cardiovascular fitness. Keira is fun, encouraging, and motivating, but most importantly her main concern is always the safety and form of her students. She has an amazing attention to physical detail that allows you to safely and confidently push yourself with new challenging moves. In just my short amount of time training with her, I am doing things that I never thought myself capable of doing. I have only been training with Keira for a few weeks, yet I can safely assure you that I have maximized my my gluteus maximus beyond the realm of conscious consideration. As a former collegiate wrestler, I have not experienced a workout this challenging in many years.

Already, my body is experiencing tremendous change; it's harder, tighter, stronger and best of all, I am able to eat carbs. My metabolism has been revved up to almost Michael Phelps levels (I may be exaggerating a bit here, but not much).

Keira guides you through grueling workouts with the care and nurturing one might find on the softer side of a marine drill sergeant. She is strict with form and varies the workouts to ensure you're never bored. Suffice it to say, I'll never return to conventional weight training again. What for?

I have trained with Russiian kettlebells for over 4 years and have worked with various strength coaches and kettlebell instructors around the country, but Keira Newton's patience, articulate explanations of subtle physical movements and athlete specific workouts are the best I have seen. On a recent trip to Santa Fe, I met with Keira to receive some fine tuning instruction on my snatch, clean and press, and front squat. The information she gave me has proven to be the single most decisive factor in my athletic gains. I am a former football player and current rugby player, and Kiera's instruction and adjustments to my kettlebell training regiment have helped me move from working out mostly with the 24kg kettlebell to focusing primarily on 32kg kettlebell work (I'm around 5'11" and 200 lbs). This new found strength has improved my muscular and cardiovascular endurance on the pitch and has added to my psychological confidence while playing. I've had the fortunate pleasure of training with Keira and wish I would have done so sooner. I started out a few years ago, learning as much as I could about Kettlebell training on my own using videos, books, etc. However, after one session with Keira, I realized how much I'd been missing. She took the time to understand who I was and what I had been doing with the Bells. In just one session, she taught me an incredible amount of valuable information - technique, form, breathing (none of which I'd been doing correctly) - and at the same time lifted my spirits and provided the toughest, yet most rewarding workout I've ever done. If I lived closer to her studio, I would definitely take advantage of the amazing opportunity to regularly train with Keira.

What can I say other than Wow!! Keira the mother of two beauty's, strong, dedicated, confident and of course we can't forget amazingly beautiful herself. I thank her tremendously for giving me back my confidence, strength and sanity after having two small children and opening up a Restaurant.
I have to admit when I first heard my girlfriends talk about Keira and her amazing hard body from 20 minute Kettlebell workouts I was a non-believer. After working out with the Kettlebell for only two weeks I was hooked. I have never obtained such positive results in such a short time. This year I am turning 35 but feel 18 (and I look it!!!). Thanks to keira's amazing instruction,skill,and dedication to her profession her students strive to excel. I've been kettlebell training with Keira twice a week for a few months now, and I feel as strong and fit from these short, high-intensity sessions as I have in the past during endurance training for marathon or triathlon events. Keira is obsessively attentive about form (which is important, since incorrect kettlebell training can be dangerous) and pushes me much harder than I ever push myself alone. After doing nothing but kettlebells all spring, I got on my bike and rode my first long ride of the season (60 miles) with no problem at all! Keira's workouts improved my cardiovascular fitness, strength, and increased explosive power--all beneficial for cross training in just about any sport you can imagine.

I trained improperly with kettlebells for two years before I started training with Keira. I had developed bad habits with my swings, squats, clean and presses, and snatches. Keira's experience as a Feldenkrais practitioner was crucial to helping me relearn my foundational kettlebell moves. She helped me to open my chest, flatten my back and get zipped through my abs to provide me with maximum power and protection from injury.

I weigh 168 pounds and am at 10% body fat. Before training with Keira I used the 20KG and 24KG bells primarily. Now I'm using the 28KG for solo bell work and two 24s for double workouts. My flexibility has improved dramatically and I've been injury free.

Keira is definitely one of the best instructors I've ever worked with. She has high expectations and makes you want to work hard. Since the beginning of this class, I've improved greatly in sports, dance, and anything else active I choose to do. Kettlebells increases your core body strength and improves your flexibility, which is helpful in anything athletic. These intense sessions incorporate both cardiovascular and grinding workouts, and as a result I've turned body fat into muscle. I would highly recommend working with Keira!

This year, I was introduced to a workout that changed my view on the form of weight lifting. I'm glad that I started working out with Keira this year because not only did I gain muscle mass, but my form improved drastically! This year i had the pleasure of working out with Keira Newton. Coming into this year i had previously worked out with Kettle Bells. Within my first few workout sessions with Keira I had revamped my form. Within a month or so i noticed an immediate improvements as I progressed and moved up to a heavier weight with confidence of knowing that i could do it comfortably with my new technique. I also noticed some changes in my body as i began to grow muscle mass. From working out with Keira, it also helped improve me improve in other aspects like in Basketball, where I started for my varsity Basketball tam and made the all district team. Kiera's ability to help teach in a postive way also helped me a lot as she never let me get discouraged and helped me to push to my limits.

I was a little skeptical on working with these kettlebells at first, but after a few months I realized it was the best workout I ever could have asked for and more. It works all of the muscles in your body in only a few exercises and adds some aerobic work in also. I've never felt better.

After the first day I completely changed my form, learned 5 new work outs and couldn't move for two days due to soreness. Since that time, I have progressed steadily and have been injury free. Keira is an excellent trainer and I suggest her for beginning and advanced bellers.

During this year I have had the pleasure of being taught the proper technique in kettle bells by Keira, and it has been an excellent supplement to my other athletic activities. In addition to now being able to wear a singlet without looking like a stick figure, kettle bells has helped me win first place in long jump at the New Mexico State track meet. Keira introduced me to kbs 6 months after my son was born and I have been hooked ever since. What Keira can offer that most people do not, is an exceptional understanding of the human body and the mechanics of movement. She can teach you a very effective kb routine and help prevent injury. Plus she is a a great TEACHER - not everyone who knows something can teach it - but Keira can!

I live in NC now, so most of our consultations are done by phone and email. She has helped me with my form & inspired. That is a skill!

She has a special way of being encouraging without falling into the typical scare or intimidation tactics some trainers use. She convinced me to start weight training after many years of not doing anything with weights ??? when I felt the most out of shape - after having a baby.

She has always been available and generous with her time, and quick to offer new workouts to keep it interesting.

Like I said in the beginning, I tell everyone I know that if they have a chance, train with Keira. She is an excellent teacher.

I flexed comfortably in the top tier of hard-bodied humans...at least i thought so. Then i met kiera. She introduced me to the kettle bell, showed off her rippling muscles...and i said: "gimmie some a that"
Kiera is an amazing trainer. She guided me through technique, with her background in physical therapy parlayed into an expertise in kettlebell form, and now pushes groups through challenging, dynamic workouts. I LOVE to attend her classes and look forward to learning more and more moves from her!!
On top of that, she trained my mother, who has 7 discs fused in her back. My mother is having less and less back pain as she strengthens her core with the kettle bell.
Kiera should defenitely clone and franchise herself.

Although I have never been a fan of traditional weight training, I was inspired to try kettlebell just from hearing Keira talk about it. Her instruction is enthusiastic, thoughtful, and precise. I started training with Keira exactly two months ago and am astonished at how quickly and efficiently I have learned kettlebell technique, my strength has increased so rapidly and the workout routines Keira puts together for our Saturday morning class are so intense and exhilarating, I feel elated the rest of the day! Keira is incredibly unique, in that she is the most non-intimidating person one might hope to train with, she is patient, encouraging and has the ability to put endurance to the test without pressure. Her overall knowledge of health, fitness and kettlebells is all encompassing and has inspired me to work my hardest at becoming as fit and healthy as I possibly can.
Keira's personal training and group class literally has changed my view of fitness and has shown me just how far I can push myself... Keira is always available through email, or via phone when I have a question about form, or if I just need a few ideas to ramp it during my home workouts. She is always readily available and willing to pass along new information and has become an inspiration for me. I am ever grateful for this new lifestyle that she has ushered me into. She is an excellent instructor and lots of fun! I have told, with ample enthusiasm, everyone I know about Keira and this amazing form of exercise! I am a huge advocate not only for kettlebells but for the training I have received from Keira.
