When I first arranged to attend my first kettlebell class I was extremely nervous. So much so, that I asked if I could bring my ten year old daughter along for moral support, but also in the possibility that she may join in. I need not have worried ! From the moment we both got there, we were made to feel at ease. Phil informed me that he had coached children before and that more than happy for my daughter to join in. We both learned at a pace that suited us and were guided and encouraged constantly. Before I started kettlebells, I found most forms of exercice tedious, hence not sticking to them for long, but with this type of exercise you never get bored. There is always something new to learn and the results are amazing. Ive never felt as fit in years. Phil Earley, you're a star !!

Over a year ago I was not in a good place, not confident and overweight.
A year later, I now have the control, power, self esteem, weight loss and new friendships which I never thought would be possible.
Finding the courage to attend Phil's Kettlebell classes has been a turnaround in my life. Sounds dramatic but there are times where you need to find something/someone who can guide/instruct you to have a healthy body and mind.
Where credit is due, people should be aware how professional and experienced Phil is and would highly recommend to attend any of his classes.

I have been training with Phil at his kettlebell club for over A year now. I have never met a more knowledgable, enthusiastic, humble and passionate instructor. At my first class with Phil I remember thinking 'this is hard and very technical', but Phil spent the time coaching and advising me till I felt comfortable.
Despite Phil's extensive knowledge, he still continues to learn new training methods, which then go on to help improve our kettlebell training.
After having two children and wanting to loose the baby weight, I chose to try a kettlebell class. I heard it was brilliant for reducing body fat and toning up and my results have proved this. In a very short amount of time I noticed changes in my physique, my strength, flexibility, posture and most importantly my confidence. I'm in better shape now than I was before I had my children! I can't thank Phil enough.
Kettlebell training compared to other exercise classes is an 'all-in-one' workout. It provides a strength, cardio, stretching, fat burning and toning workout all in one session.
Highly recommended.

Since a recommendation by a friend I've trained with Phil at every opportunity I have got and have not regreted a second of it. Since meeting Phil my knowledge and strenght has increased dramatically and has lead to improvements in all other sporting enedvours from Kung fu to tai chi as well. He is the reason I keep pushing myself with the bells and was succesful in becoming HKC qualified and is the reason why I will continue to keep improving and learning more. The depth of knowledge he has is astounding and I can't recommend him highly enough to anyone who wants to improve themselves at all.
When I think of all the people that I know in my geographical area who train kettlebells and are skilled with them they all have one thing in common - Phil. It's not a coincidence, just common sense. If you put that much knowledge, ability, heart and passion into something you will get the best out and Phil delivers every time.

I first started doing Kettlebell training with Phil 4 years ago and I have never looked back. He took the time to get to know my strengths and my weaknesses and together we worked tirelessly to get amazing results.
There is nothing that this man does not know about RKC, fitness and nutrition and how to get the best results in the most efficient and fun way.
Phil Earley is a true expert in the art of Kettlebell training and absolutely lovely man to boot - couldn't rate him highly enough.

If i was a beginner again at one of Phil's classes and been through the intense painful training i have been through, i would be really put off!!! but that is the point, you don't realise the real paces he puts you through until you feel it a day or two after and within a few weeks your body is not your body!!! its transformation, transition has transformed.
I became more lean, stronger and most importantly my achy pains were no more, in such a quick period of time that you cant not, not be hooked...
He only says what he is on the tin and its not a matter of me recommending him, i actually have done so several times...
Why? Because he is worth it ;

I have been going to Phil's NKC classes for the past couple of years and couldn't recommend him enough as a teacher and coach. Phil is professional, highly knowledgeable and consistently delivers quality classes which are always evolving- he will not compromise on technique and is always on hand to answer questions.
I lack the motivation to go to the gym and prior to kettlebell training had tried various classes where I never really felt I got a "proper" workout- you will never walk away from one of his classes feeling like you haven't had a workout! Even more satisfying is when previously unknown muscles start to appear and you work your way up the weights! Phil encourages everyone to push their perceived limits and does so in an environment which is friendly and welcoming- not always easy when it comes to fitness!
Phil is a truly exceptional instructor!

As the 70 odd 10/10 reviews on this site are already testimony to, Phil is a class trainer and consumate professional.
The way he runs group KB and Primal Move classes is unique in my experience, always having time to advise everyone in the class on technique and check their form. He puts all other 'group classes' I have been to at gyms etc to shame - most PTs don't divluge their 'secrets' unless you pay them a fortune for one on one sessions, but the complete opposite is true of Phil. Don't plan on needing to be somewhere after one of his sessions as: a) you'll be completely knackered; and b) he usually overuns the finish time by about 20 minutes getting in those final few sets of thrusters and interval swings!!
I have only been training with NKC for a few months, but I'm already seeing big gains in strength, joint stability and flexibility.
The variety of drills is class, as is the integration of primal move warm ups and exercises. Classes always fly by but leave you hurting all over.
True PT expertise is hard to find, but in the North East you need look no further than NKC - proper value for money and Phil is a very nice bloke to boot.

From starting Phil's kettlebell classes only 6 months ago, the improvement in my fitness has amazed me. Phil is an excellent instructor; he is very clear in what he wants you to do, and very patient. He has gradually encouraged me to move up the weights, in a controlled manner and safety and technique is paramount in his classes. His no nonsense approach is fantastic and very inspiring. And from this I have been able to gain confidence and strength within a great environment. Phil is firm, but also very down to earth and shows a good sense of humour!!
From attending the kettlebell classes, and also the kettlebell and primal move workshops I have a better grasp on technique, and also my body movement. I am enjoying the change to my body, fitness and mental attitude. And I feel extremely lucky to have crossed paths with this clearly very dedicated teacher.

I have just completed my first year as a regular at Phil's classes and the improvement I've seen in my fitness and physical wellbeing is incredible.
When I first started I had regular aches and pains in my back and my posture was affected from years of sitting in office chairs hunched over a desk. After four weeks of Phil's classes people began to comment on my posture and my back aches had all but gone.
My flexibility has improved massively, particularly my hip, ankle and shoulder movement. My core strength has also improved dramatically, which has really helped improve my running and swimming.
As an instructor Phil is extremely attentive to your needs, whether you are a beginner or experienced. He makes sure you don't slip into any bad habits and ensures everyone is benefiting from the most up to date kettlebell techniques.
Overall I can't recommend Phil's classes high enough, they're far more than just a weekly workout!

I have been learning about and training with Kettlebells under Phil for nearly two years now. Previously I have followed Crossfit and other lean gain programs. It has been an absolute pleasure (if I ignore the pain :o) attending Phil's classes. He is clearly extremeley knowledgeable about KBs, but also very humble, patient and in touch with his classes level and needs. Despite a busy class he always has time for you and has a never ending enthusiasm to help you better yourself. He is very motivational during class and although very physically demanding I always come away knowing I have done a good workout!
Physically I have not only got stronger, but got stronger in places that help all around much more,ie core strength. Phil has got me addicted to KBs and I now have my own complete set so I can continue my workouts at home to supplement regular classes so I can stay on top of my form. In summary, I believe all the hype about KBs, they really are all you need for a total body workout and I can't think of a better place for anyone to learn about them than in one of Phil's classes. Young or old, fat or thin, male or female, athlete or novice Phil has something to offer you!

I've been regularly attending Phil Earley's classes at NKC for 12 months now.
Swapping resistance and cardio training for kettlebell workouts where both can be achieved simultaneously through whole body movement has been of huge benefit to me. It saves me time and I've achieved faster results, and its good fun too.
Phil's KB classes are always challenging, mentally as much as physically, and always varied. It beats going to other types of fitness classes I could name that are choreographed, repetitive and often result in diminishing returns.
Phil is ever eagle eyed, looking out for any faults in form and is always quick to correct imperfect technique to prevent any bad habits and potential injury.
Prior to meeting Phil I'd suffered considerable rotator cuff problems with one of my shoulders for years. Now, a year down the line, there is little difference in flexibility - and as a result strength between the two shoulders thanks to kettlebells.
The emphasis on quality of movement that Phil advocates is something I’m only now beginning to appreciate. Only through improved movement and flexibility can you lift more weight safely. It sounds obvious and logical but traditional weight training doesn’t really teach you that.
I feel better, I’m told I look better and can move more freely than before (even though there is a long way to go – but that’s the challenge!).
I’m very grateful to Phil and the depth of knowledge he brings in helping me and I’d thoroughly recommend him to anyone irrespective of your level of fitness.

Phil has gone a long way towards sorting me out. A couple of years ago I was offered corrective surgery for hip pain - a physiotherapist advised exercise instead. Now age 51, I’ve been at three of Phil’s one-hour kettlebell sessions per week for just over a year. The pain’s gone, and I’ve had huge improvements in strength and flexibility, which continue month by month.
The kettlebells (and the other body weight exercises in the classes) have helped with back and ankle problems from old injuries (fractures), and stiffness from a life of general gym phobia.
Huge thanks to Phil for changing all that.
The classes are challenging, sometimes seeing-stars / feeling-sick challenging: but safe, and bizarrely fun. All the sessions are different and there’s always some technique or move that improves each time. Phil follows each person’s progress, watching their posture / physiotherapy issues, and pushes everyone hard enough but manageably enough to get results.
I’ve had loads of positive feedback from friends, and although I know there’s much further to go, I am now pretty fit, rolling around like I’m 25 yrs younger - and I’ve finally got it that some form of regular weights based exercise is necessary for health. The KB’s fit that requirement for me. I’ve also noticed flexibility benefits from the Primal Move stuff we’ve just started doing at the classes. I’ll be continuing with both. Recommended 10/10.

If you could bottle enthusiasm then Phil would make a fortune! My friends and I started kettlebells about 8 months ago and very quickly caught the bug. It was obvious from the start that Phil has an in depth knowledge of just about everything sport related and his devotion to his craft is to be commended. His classes offer a great workout and he has a unique way of getting the best out of people. He has no need to scream and shout because he commands so much respect that a disapproving look is enough to make you pick up that heavier bell!

I first attended one of Phil's classes about eight months ago. I'd been doing my own kettle bell workouts at home with a DVD (in hindsight quite badly). My friends and I decided to give the class a try and were hooked from the first night. It's a different way of training more challenging than any gym workouts and surprisingly more enjoyable. We always leave on a high.
Phil keeps you motivated through (there's no slacking) he's really focuses on correct technique and ensures that you keep progressing and improving. He's completely passionate about kettlebells encouraging you to try weights I never thought I'd lift. I noticed results almost straight away especially my core area which after having my first child was an area I found difficult to strengthen.
I recommend Phil's class to everyone, it caters to all fitness levels and anyone who wants to tone up is crazy not to try it!!!

I recently qualified as PT and was recommended by a friend to go along to one of Phil’s class and give kettlebells a go. From that very first class I realised that I had found something that was nothing like anything else I have tried. I love the feeling that you get the following day after a session, you can really tell that you have worked every muscle!
Phil is one of the most inspirational people I have ever met, he is very passionate and you know by talking to him that he believes in everything that he is telling you, totally practices what he preaches. I have since completed a NKC kettlebell course which was the hardest but most enjoyable courses I have done.

I have worked in the fitness industry for over ten years and participated in a variety of different sport and exercise regimes.
I developed an interest in kettlebells after talking to friends who had recently started going to classes; and after giving it a try, decided to train as an instructor.
On the recommendation of colleagues, I made arrangements to do my training with Phil at NKC.
The course itself was physically tough but Phil is one of the most knowledgeable men that I have ever met in the fitness industry and his enthusiasm and encouragement meant that it was also one of the most interesting that I have ever attended. He is so passionate about kettlebells and this really comes across in his teaching. It is evident that Phil really believes in the benefits of the training regime, and that he channels his passion not only into his own development as an athlete and mentor, but also to motivate others; both as instructors and participants.
I quickly adapted to the kettebell training techniques and before long began working alongside Phil as a kettlebell instructor. It has been an amazing opportunity to be able to work within the structure of such an esteemed, and successful club; and a fantastic experience to pass on the knowledge that Phil has shared with me. There are so many individuals that I have spoken to who attribute an improvement in their lifestyle, health or sense of well-being to starting a class at NKC. It is wonderful to see a participant who has previously been somewhat sedentary really enjoying the exercise that they are doing, and seeing results; or likewise, to see an athlete discovering some success in their sport because of an improvement in their strength and movement patterns.
NKC is very successful in achieving its purpose. I started going to a kettlebell class ran by phil Earley about 8 months ago after i had my first baby and i couldnt be more addicted!. At first i was a bit apprehensive thinking about all my unwanted weight and working in a big group but phil soon made me feel comfortable and confident about myself and soon my technique and strength had improved dramatically.
I have never known a workout class to be so rewarding and enjoyable beats going to the gym any day! And phil still seems to have the time and patience to spend as much time as you need to ensure you are safe and using the right technique.

As Master RKC, I had the opportunity to watch Phil Earley grow, both as an athlete and as a Kettlebell instructor. From his first time through the RKC through his RKC II in Italy June 2012, he has demonstrated the skill and hard work that is required to reach this high level of instructor training.
As recently as September 2012, he assisted me in the HKC, one-day certification. This time I was able to witness his leadership abilities as well as his technical skill.
Along with the hands on ability to work with people of all different fitness levels as well as athletic backgrounds.
The bottom line is that Phil Earley is professional, lives what he preaches, is a compassionate and intuitive instructor as well as an admirable athlete in is own right. I fully recommend Phil Earley as a representative of the RKC school of strength.

As part of my quest to engage the The Ageless Body programme, I recently traveled from the Dundee area to see Phil to learn Kettlebell Hardstyle technique. I have been curious about it for some time after finding out about it through Pavel Tsatsouline’s approach to strength training.
Due to issues with my back and knees I wanted to learn the techniques as safely as possible. I had a 2 hour block with Phil, which he generously went over time and in that time he taught me a lot of Kettlebell moves in a very clear, easy to understand manner that was easy to retain.
I liked the precision of his teaching, (reminiscent of the Iyengar Yoga approach) and his sharp observation of ‘less than perfect’ form. These two aspects particularly made feel safe & confident about throwing this ‘cannonball with a handle’ around my body. He also knew how much to push me to get the most out of the session, without sending me home too knackered on the train home!
Over the years I have done a lot of sport e.g. rugby, hockey, athletics with the necessary training regimes, which along with my yoga & chi gung experience, allowed me to appreciate not only the quality of Phil’s teaching but the ‘all round’ knowledge he has about fitness.
I now feel confident to practice at home and plan to have fun.
I had a great day with Phil and look forward to the next time.

"I'm now 52 yrs and have tried all sorts of sports training, football, rugby, karate, aikido, cross country running, weights, golf etc and I have never ever had such an efficient workout as kettlebell training as you get with Phil at NKC. I was a police officer for 30 years and tried to stay in shape. Since starting kettlebells I lost a stone in fat in 10 sessions and kept it off. My first contact with Phil Earley of Newcastle Kettlebell lifting club was in June 2010; as my kettlebell classes began growing it was necessary to get my wife qualified so that she could help me during sessions.
On talking to Phil on the phone, his experience and credentials were more than apparent and I knew it would be advantageous to my business if my wife received her qualification through him. I had spent a lot of time preparing my wife for Phil’s course as I knew that it would be tough and also that my wife would come away with some unique views that naturally I would be able to exploit and was not disappointed in the results; my wife has turned into a pivotal part of the business and her confidence in her teaching techniques is well placed.
My business has grew and turned into a franchise and Phil has always been available for advice and guidance and with my level of staff increasing, there isn’t anyone else that I would allow to get them qualified as naturally I want my staff to be qualified to a high level and be tutored by someone with a passion for kettlebells that is as great as my mine.
I have often taken advantage personally of Phil's expertise with a regular one-one to help me brush up on a few techniques, which has always served as beneficial with the tutoring of my class and also my personal training.
I would recommend Phil to anyone who is considering taking up Kettlebells and he is actually the only person in the North East who I am happy to recommend (and actively do) to anyone who contacts me who simply lives to far away geographically to any of my venues.

Phil has been my Kettlebell coach, mentor and inspiration for a couple of years. His knowledge of all things kettlebell, and related subjects is in my experience, second to none!
Phil delivers classes to what are pretty big numbers, with mixed levels of experience, despite this he always manages to ensure that everyone gets some attention - from beginners through to the very experienced. He can correct technique without making anyone feel 'small' something which a lot of trainers just don't 'get'. He also manages to determine and meet individual needs, some want information and detail, whilst others just want to get fit - Phil has a unique way giving people what they want. This is only down to his knowledge, skill and personal determination to learn from the best - there are too many trainers who think they know it all, Phil takes his own progression seriously, and the customer gets the benefit of that.
Personally, I am thrilled with my own progress, stronger than I ever thought I could be, whilst not skipping on good technique - something Phil just won't allow.
To summarise, if you're looking for classes or personal training that are fun, hard-work, and results driven, then I would recommend Phil unreservedly!

After 20 something years in the forces and having tried almost all of the different gym trends doing the rounds I was introduced to the kettlebell just over 12 months ago thinking as many people would, it was just another craze, how wrong I was.From that first swing I was hooked and soon found classes to feed my hunger. After several months under one of Phil's past students he suggested I attended one of Phil's training courses which was accompanied by the warning on how hard it was. I arrived with trepidation but was soon put at ease by Phil. From the moment i met him I was impressed by his drive, commitment and his willingness to impart his knowledge on others. His teaching methods are second to none with each discipline being broken down to the finest detail and drilled to perfection. He makes no excuses for the toughness of the course nor the high standards he sets for you to achieve a pass and believe me he makes you work very hard for the prized certificate at the end of a gruelling 2 days.
I feel very privelliged to have met and learned under Phil.If I ever have any questions or need advice Phil is always happy to help either over a quick phone call or by e-mail, which is always good to know. Thanks Phil.

I met Phil Early last year ,when I attended his level 1 kettlebell instructor course.I had no experience of kettlebells only in weight lifting , Phil was welcoming and made me feel at ease .I was given a good background in Rkc Kettlebells, which was interesting and made me exited to get started. We went through the basics at a pace to suit all on the course, all of the people on the course got on well and phil played a big part in making the spirit of group with everyone getting stuck in.
The course lasted two days ,two hard days, Ive never worked as hard before or since on any course . the quality of the training was what stood out for me, this was top draw and ive been on alot of fitness courses of good quality.We were all told the standard Phil was looking for was high and not all may pass first time as he said this qualification wont just be given away to any one . Phil is a hard task master and rightly so, as he is a guardian of RKC To sum up Iwould highly recommend Phil Early Newcastle Kettlebelln club

I have done the gym thing, had personal trainers etc and always got bored and never got the results I wanted. That was until I went to a kettlebell class run by Phil Earley. I still remember my thoughts as I was going to the class "another boring useless workout routine coming up"..boy was I wrong!!
From the moment I entered, I could see how professional everything was, It was a very friendly atmosphere, everyone was at ease, warm up to start with and then an hour of very tough routines targeting every muscle group in the body. A total workout.
The instructions were very clear, and as I was a beginner, extra care and attention was given to ensure correct movements were being performed. The attention to detail given by Phil was second to none, he was on hand to ensure that even the slightest of mis-alignments were corrected therefore eliminating chances of injuries. I was hooked!!
Since I enjoyed the KB classes, i decided to enlist Phil's services as a PT also. Losing body fat was a key target of mine, after a few weeks of Kettlebells and also PT, this was shifting faster than I could have dreamt. Phil is extremely knowledgable on all aspects of the body , training methods and its effects and also nutrition. He has told me what to do and what not to do, things to eat and not to eat, and in such a way that I am actually doing as I'm told as its enjoyable and results are being gained!!
Phil is one of the most dedicated professionals in this industry, his professionalism is beyond the call of duty, willing to answer all manners of questions to anyone in any of his classes whether they re-attend or not, not many people give you information for nothing.
I would have no hesitation recommending any of Phil's classes or his Personal Training Sessions. If you want to be Fitter, Stronger, Leaner..then Phil's the man for you!!

I have known Phil for almost 2 years now, having first attended one of his Kettlebells classes. I then enlisted Phil for Personal Training purely based on the vast amount of knowledge and Phils excellent down to earth style. His enthusiasm and expertise in this field makes him stand head and shoulders above other PTs.
As far as Kettlebells are concerned - I would not go elsewhere...Phils is the leading KB exponent and his credited experience is clear to see. The class sessions Phil leads are excellent and rewards can be seen within a few weeks. Phil is always at hand to personally guide and support you no matter what level of fitness you are at. The classes offer an excellent full body workout in a safe manner - Phil explains with excellent examples the theory behind technique.
In the PT sessions I trained using methods not seen in the many gyms - this was perfect for me due to limited time. Phils knowledge and his friendly manner in explaining reasoning behind a particulr excercise make it that much easier.
On numerous occasions Phil has emailed or text to see how I progressing and has always replied to emails where I have asked a fitness/ nutrition related question.His PT session went a lot further than usual - including nutritional info and workout plans.
If you have tried other PTs, diets, boring gym routines then you know where I am coming from. Trust me...go see Phil and the only thing you will regret is why on earth you didnt seek this guy out earlier!!

As my interest in Kettlebell Training increased, I searched hard for the best instructor and was dissapointed a few times along the way. When I heard about RKC being Gold Standard, I immediately searched for an instructor and found Phil's details. After training with Phil for the first time I knew I had found the right sylt of Kettlebells but also the right club and instructor. Phil's NKC club is the North Easts number 1 by far. Phil's wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm comes across well and he is true to the RKC Gold standard in his own ability and teaching style.

When I first turned up at Phil's class, I just wanted to lose some weight and stop feeling quite so rubbish, and ideally to achieve this without being bored rigid at the gym. Since then I have lost weight, dropped several dress sizes etc - but I've also changed shape, become stronger and even learned to like exercise (a minor miracle in itself). Phil has encouraged and pushed me to work harder than I've ever done before - and like it! I'm now hooked on kettlebells - and want to continue with the class to develop a good technique and become stronger.
Phil is an exceptional teacher and has the knowledge and ability to motivate a whole class - whilst paying attention to each individual within it - and I would highly recommend him. I've been going to classes for a year now - and they remain challenging and varied.

Phil is a fantastic and inspirational teacher.
I hadn't done any proper exercise for years and even though I wanted to try kettle bells, I was a bit scared about going to a class. From the very outset Phil was really supportive and made me feel like I was making progress.
He really encourages you to push yourself beyond what you think you can do so you get a real sense of achievement. Phil is strict enough to work you really hard but at the same time you can have a laugh in class. He also makes you understand how and why you need to do things in a certain way.
I've been going for about 14 months now and I'm completely addicted to the class. I've gone down 2 dress sizes and I feel loads healthier and stronger. I honestly can't recommend Phil or kettle bells highly enough.

I First became aware of Phil whilst working as a personal trainer at a local gym and I began to develop an interest in Kettlebell training, I don't think you could be interested in the kettlebell in our region and not know of Phil. His NKC club is the gold standard in KB lifting in the North east UK and rightly so. His Knowledge is deep, his teaching style is highly accessible and his physical execution is incredibly clear and sharp. Phil is the type of trainer i aspire towards, There is no doubting his passion and commitment to wards spreading the word of RKC but I think what I find most admirable about Phil's Style is his total lack of egotism, His professionalism and knowledge is admirable yet he remains with his feet firmly planted on the floor. I recently attended one of Phils NKC instructor courses and he opened up a whole new Vista with the hardstyle and I would highly recommend ANY kettlebell instructor to do the same. I first started working with phil 2 years ago, and since then my fitness and strength levels have improved massively. i hadnt used kettle bells before but they are the only weights i have used since. Im a pro footballer so i need power in my glutes and legs aswell as having a strong upper body, and working with phil has helped develope my overall fitness and strength levels. I have worked with Phil through 1:1 training and workshops over the last 5 months. What a fantastic trainer. I have worked in the fitness industry for over 10 years and work as an Exercise and Lifestyle manager, so i guess you could say i have high standards when it comes to trainers. I started working with Phil for my own pleasure and he has inspired me beyond belief. Phil makes no judgements of people and trains people of all abilities. kettlebell training is the most amazing way to train, I am completely addicted....i even wonder now how i will get kettlebells in my suitcase when i go abroad this year to get my daily fix haha! I have had the good fortune over the years to witness some exceptional instructors (from Martial Artists and high level security personnel to Special Ops Instructors). As a one-time Journalist for a Martial Arts Magazine as well as a documentary film maker i'd like to think i've witnessed some of the best in the world.
Phil Earley easily stands up there.
He is obviously strong and incredibly proficient, but i want to stress more than anything the QUALITY of his teaching. It is this which i feel makes him a cut above the rest.
He makes it very clear from the outset what exercise you are doing, the correct technique and form, the muscles that are being used and the benefits of each exercise. He also teaches you how to do things right and do things safely (taking into account each individuals skillset, strenghts, weaknesses and injuries) and then once you are comfortable and KNOWLEDGEABLE about what you are undertaking, he offers you a lot of support and encouragement towards pushing yourself.
I believe this is a stand out quality for any instructor, but particularly for Kettlebells. Just doing Kettlebells is one thing but doing it right is another.
The ability to monitor individual performance and to offer just the right encouragement to the right person is an enviable skill, but to do that in a large class is outstanding.
I can't recommend Phil highly enough. Whatever your size, age, shape or skillset. The personal approach and the attention to detail means that you never feel left out or left behind..

After training with Phil for several months I have seen improvements in strength, size and body composition.
Being completely new to kettlebells I was taught the basic movements and breathing patterns, this provided a solid base for the more advanced movements and techniques that came after.
Not only has Phil answered any kettlebell related questions, but he identified and was able to give advice on mobility issues in both my shoulders and hips.

After getting medically discharged from the British Army in late 2008 due to a back injury, I was looking for different exercises that would strengthen my back so I can rejoin the army, after going to the gym and doing bog standard weights and lots of swimming for a number of months I still felt like I had a weakness in my back until I seen a poster advertising kettlebells. I decided to join phils class a number of months back and have never looked back since. Phil takes the time to make sure you are using the correct techniques and form to avoid injury, with phils knowledge he gives great rehabilitation techniques and nutrition information to anybody that needs it, he is a great instructor and I could not choose a better person to learn from. Since I started I have noticed my strenght and fitness go through the roof and it is still rapidly improving each week.

I am currently 24, when i met Phil i was in really bad shape, I needed help and one session with Phil i knew he was the real answer to my problem!
He is showing me how to get great form and learn all the skills needed to be top notch at RKC. He has such a great way of teaching you that no matter how bad you are at using kettlebells like I was, with his expert guidance your ability will soar and technique will dramatically improve.

Phil diserves this 10 out of 10 for his drive, enthusiasm and commitment to getting me fit! I've not come across anything quite like this level of excercise before. Nothing I've done before comes close to the enjoyment and sense of achievement either. Phil keeps an eye on you and constantly checks technique to avoid injuries during the sessions. I have known Phil for some years but it was only at the beginning of 2009 that I began his KB class. Up until then no one was offering KB. Back when I first became interested I had to adapt KB drills to dumbbell weights (not ideal).
That said just having the appropriate equipment is not enough.
Phil has a superb grasp of functional anatomy and, importantly technique. He is excellent at balancing the developmental needs of the individual with their development with KB's.
His own desire for improvement on a personal level translates into his genuine enthusiasm to inspire greater levels of individual ability to each person in his classes.
Personally Phil is head and shoulders above most other instructor I have come across and is in my opinion he is probably the best KB instructor in the North East.
What I have gained is an enthusiasm to try harder and train to achieve a goal. I have also benefitted from the camaraderie that Phil engenders in his class. We have a club that is an extension of Phil's enthusiasm, drive and "can do" attitude.

Phil is the most enthusiastic, dedicated and genuine person I know when it comes to fitness training and PT. I have been using kettlebells since he set up the class last year and they are brilliant, even bought some for use at home, although you feel it - it is true no pain and no gain. I hope ladies read this and this shows it's not just a mans world!! They have made me more toned, flexible and given me much more energy.
Phil is a brilliant instructor, pushes you hard but will adjust exercises for any conditions you have. He has also helped me with a back problem following a crash showing his vast knowledge, and despite being in pain - I had 100% trust in him.
His enthuiasm flows through the class and he gives everyone one to one time and spots any technique errors - and given the size of the classes this is not something you get in most places!
I would reccommend Phil without hestitation!!!

I first read about kettlebells almost 2 years ago, so decided to buy one with a dvd and do it at home, I couldn't find a class anywhere until I read an article in the paper a few months later about Phil and his kettlebell classes so i gave it a try. I attended the class and couldn't move for about 3 days afterwards! Everyone in the class was at a different fitness level so I didn't feel so bad as I wasn't too fit myself! Phil was great and helped me alot. I've attended the class ever since and I absolutely love it, I've noticed a massive difference in my strength and fitness and it's also helped to build my confidence.

I've been training with Phil's Kettlebell classes since January 2009 and have really enjoyed the challenges set every week.

I met Phil when he was an expert Trainer at David Lloyd and from my first interaction with him, I really trusted him as he knew his subject inside out and at the same time was legitimately interested in providing techniques and training based on my individual requirements - something a lot of trainers don't do.
His PT instruction then led me to Kettlebell training and I have yet to find anything which delivers a workout like it. That being said, it needs the right instructor and I have seen first hand how Phil ensures people of all ages and fitness levels can enjoy and get the most out of Kettlebell. I have run for many years and was idly thinking about incorporating some strength training into my regime in an attempt to improve my core. I came across an article about kettlebells and decided to give Phil's class a try. I considered myself fairly fit but My God! After my first class, (I mean,when I could walk again!) I was totally hooked!
Through Phil's classes my fitness levels have moved up a notch or five! I can't remember ever being so fit or strong.
When I suffered a running injury 2 weeks before the Great North Run, in desperation I went to a Sports Physiotherapist. I mentioned it to Phil and he gave me advice far superior to that I had paid through the nose for at a fancy clinic. He also took the time to explain not only how it had happened in the first place but how I could prevent future injuries by making a few simple changes. I've been injury free ever since.
I was amazed by his knowledge and to be honest, I really felt like he knew his stuff. Phil gave me great advice and encouragement and I went from thinking I would be unable to run, to getting a time I was (almost!)happy with.
Despite staying the same weight, give or take a pound here or there, I have never had so many people ask me if I have lost weight because my body has become far more firm and toned thanks to kettlebells and Phil's brutal workouts! So thanks Phil, I think!

I am a mum of three and after having my third child i found it extremely difficult to shift those extra few pounds and get rid of that pouch the little bundle left me with.
I tried so many different fittness classes but just couldn't get into them, then I was introduced to Phil and his kettlebells class. I can honestly say that it's the best thing I have ever done, Phil is one of the most professional instructors I have met and his dedication is second to none. His classes are full of people from all walks of life, all with the same goal...to get fit and feel heathy and Phil knows how to get you there. It sounds like cliche but I won't be trying any more fittness classes - I have found the one for me.

PHIL IS VERY GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES, GIVES EASY TO UNDERSTAND INSTRUCTIONS AND GIVES GREAT ADVICE. I WOULD SAY HE DEFINATELY KNOWS WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT, EITHER ITS ABOUT THE TRAINING, HOW THE MUSCLES WORK OR NUTRITION. I HAVE SPOKEN TO A LOT OF TRAINERS AND VISITED VARIOUS GYMS OVER THE LAST 10-12 YEARS FOR ME THIS IS THE BEST ALL ROUND PACKAGE.

Since I started kettle bells I have noticed massive changes in my body I started 6 months ago and now I have lost 2 stone and I feel much fitter in myself now. It is a very challenging sport and I thouroughly enjoy this. Now phil has made this excercise a harder R.K.C level which makes the exercise even more interesting. I have noticed that lots of the other people around me have lost weight too. Phil has been an excellent instructor throughout my kettle bell experience.

Following a sporting career in track and field athletics followed by several years of mixing serious endurance running with weight training for strength and power I was introduced to Phils Kettlebell class in 2008.
His class has been absolutely inspirational and I have never experienced such rapid gains in strength, power and endurance in all of my 47 years!
In the short period of 2 months my all round fitness improved to be far better than it has ben since my early 20's.
Phils classes are truly inspirational, great fun and accessible to all levels of fitness and goals.
I would whole heartedly recomend Phil to anyone from beginners to international sportsmen.

I had heard of kettle bell training in a no. of magizines and decided to give it ago. I started Phil's class at the begining of this year and it totally changed my fitness regime. Phils class's great fun mixed with hard work which gives me a full body work out.If i have any questions i know i can ask phil (and 10 times out of 10 he will know the answer or can show me where im going wrong)Until i started kettle bells i thought i knew abit about what exercise will work my body best but i was so off the mark. Thats why i love kettle bells and tell everyone to come to phils class with me. xx

I have trained with Phil for 4 months and i have seen a great improvement in my fitness levels and body shape. Phil ensures that his classes have variety to keep everybody interested and excited to work out, which helps me greatly as i have tried a number of different classes and I have quit due to not seeing results and boredom, and i am pleased this is not the case with Phils Kettlebells classes.
I have been approached by Friends and Colleagues regarding how and what i am doing, as the results are clear to see. I would recommend everybody to try Kettlebells and see the results for themselves.

I have known Phil for over 8 years now and used to work with him for around 4 of those. I have trained and studied in fitness all my life and can honestly say with my hand on my heart that Phil is the most knowledgeable trainer I have met.
The skills that seperate Phil from others include his ability to work with and help everyone. That is a bold statement. He can improve the balance and flexability of a senior client and with the same professionalism improve the speed and strength of a Pro Rugby player, all with the use of kettlebells.
If you are wondering whether to try kettlebells or not take my advice and just do it! Regardless of your ability and experience Phil will help reach your goal, and more importantly show you how to actually enjoy fitness training again. Give it a go Comrade!

I am 29. Since I could walk and to this day I have competed in all different types of sports to a high standard.
From trampolining and gymnastics through to martial arts and on to kickboxing and boxing.
I am also a member of the parachute regiment so know the value of hard work and having to push the body past were the mind wants to stop.
I have known Phil for about 5 years now and having worked in the fitness industry myself I know a thing or two but
nothing in comparison to the knowledge Phil has in so many different areas. It was when he introduced me to kettlebells
that I saw another side of him and another level of pain in myself. If there is one word to sum up kettlebells it's AWESOME!.
The exercises and workouts Phil has shown me have put my fitness levels, strength, punching power and flexibility up
to a new high.
Phil and his methods also helped me hugely when I broke both my ankles. Much greater and faster results than any
NHS physio. He can help anyone from pro athletes to the elderly. Phil has dedicated so much time and effort to the bells
and his business of helping others he truly is an inspiration. His strength and fitness levels are outstanding and dam it the guy is roughly 12 years my senior and my stomach muscles dont get near to his.

My fitness levels are through the roof since i started training with Phill and since he got back from the RKC my pain tolerance has had to go up a notch too. Phill's attention to detail in his kettlebell training makes it safe and effective. His vast knowlege of anatomy, nutrition and sports injurys really helps those who train with him achieve theire goals.
He is a great motivator and his level of fitness is inspiring.

Having trained in kickboxing for the past 18 years I have always looked at new ways to improve my own strength and conditioning, a year ago I had the great pleasure of meeting Phil Earley of the Newcastle Kettlebell Lifting Club, and have never looked back since. Phil has taught me so much and my fitness has greatly improved since meeting him, especially since the introduction of RKC I am now able to lift the 32kg Kettlebell and look forward to getting more reps and increasing the load in the near future.
I recommend Phil so much so that I have had the great pleasure in forming a training partnership with Newcastle Kettlebell Lifting Club and my own Kickboxing Organisation.

Only been training with Phil and his friends (the kettlebells) for a few months, though within this short time i have managed to bulk up a little for the first time in my life. Even with all my old broken bones and lack of knee cartilage (no i'm only 39 and not 79), i'm able to adapt the exercises round to suit my unusual movement ( and unusual it is). Phil has a great way of motivating people and getting them to push themselves to the limit (or almost the edge, ha ha), but seriously if you want to get fit and have great conditioning he's the man. Great for all levels and certainly does not single out the more elite athletes like other instructors sometimes do. Give it a go, you'll love it and that will be a tenner Phil, thanks.

I started kettlebell training with Phill in Aprill 2008, being new to kettlebell training Phil started with the basics, this progressed to lifting techniques and breathing techniques, the year and a half that i've been training with Phil my strenth and fitness has gone through the roof and I now train at least three times a week with kettlebells and would always recommend Phil to anyone that wants to get the best out of there body!!!

I attended the first Newcastle kettlebell Club session in April 2008 wanting something more from my exercise regime and I 'got it' that day. Phil I am writing this testomonial as a thank you and in the hope that people viewing will now give RKC a go. Having trained hard, I thought, since the age of 15 (now 45) I needed a new challenge and by default found kettlebell training and you about six months ago. After the first class I new it was for me. I found my fitness and strength improved big style. I also carry a few injuries from bad form and bad instruction over the years,but since training with you these have eased and I now feel more confident when I train.
I like the diverse range and ages involved in the classes and no one is left out or made to feel uncomfortable. Everyone gets your attention.
The training has taken a dramatic turn since you returned from the RKC course and all I can say is "brilliant"! My fitness and strength has taken another giant step and I enjoy the challenge and intensity of the training so much. I do not know what is coming next but keep it up, fantastic!

I first started personal training with Phil 4 years ago. Phil's anatomy and biomechanics expertise (I'm a consultant physician, and recognise excellence in this area when I seen it!) had already sorted out my post-cartilage surgery knee weakness and instability, while his personalised workouts and attention to detail had dramatically improved my general fitness. Then, around a year ago, along came kettlebells. The change was amazing, with huge boosts to my cardiovascular fitness, muscle mass and toning. Since the introduction of the RKC methods, things have progressed astonishingly. In a couple of weeks with the improvement in technique, having struggled with 20kg bells, I'm all of sudden pressing and snatching 24kg, and have moved up to swinging 28kg - a huge personal achievment all down to Phil's enthusiasm and excellent teaching abilities. I couldnt recommend the RKC techniques, and Phil's teaching methods, more highly. He manages to get the best out of all levels and abilities, and communicates the iron will and physical discipline needed for RKC excellence brilliantly. I look forward to continuing improvement in my technique, fitness and ability, and know Phil is the instructor who can best deliver.

Being a professional rugby player power is a very important tool to possess, this is why i sought out Phil. Never using kettlebells before Phil Earley (RKC instructor) focused heavily, in our earlier sessions, purely on both lifting and breathing techniques perfecting the lift of the kettlebell, this enabled me to increase the load to intensify the workout in later sessions without suffering from any injuries. Weights is one of the most important programmes that i have to do to play rugby at a high level, adding the kettlebell sessions with Phil to my normal regime has benefitted me no doubt. My power has increased, i have shredded off body fat and have increased my body weight, therefore, increasing my muscle mass. I 100% recommend kettlebell training with Phil and guarentee anyone that does will physically and mentally discover results in a matter of weeks. His positive attitude and in-depth knowledge and experience makes him a perfect instructor. Cheers Phil
