Mr. Engum knows his stuff. This is the first workout system that seemed to give me a total body workout and results were above what was expected. Mr. Engum gave expert instruction and was able to relate to all the various levels of fitness in our course. I would reccomend this system to anyone who is serious about getting results.

I started taking kettlebells two years ago with Jon Engum. He did an excellent job of teaching us the techniques and ALWAYS stressed how to do each technique safely. He finds ways to make us challenge ourselves to new levels of strength and endurance. I have lost over 35 pounds since working out with Kettlebells. My strength has improved a lot. The main difference that I've noticed is in my endurance level. I weight lifted and did martial arts for over 10 years, but never had the results that I've had from Kettle bells.

I went to one of Jon's first workshops in Fargo, ND, and it was probably the best hands-on workshop I ever took part in! As a CSCS myself, Jon explained things simple, well, and to the point. No BS, just flat-out, top-notch instruction on the basics of kettlebell training and its unique lifts. Because of this workshop's impact on me, I later decided to fully enter into my own training business venture, and focused on kettlebell training as the 'main attraction' with my services. 18 months later, and my athletes are loving the effects that the simple swings, cleans, and snatches deliver to their athletic power production. I have been working with kettlebells for only a short time and have just scratched the surface of what I can do with them. Jon's classes have shown me the potential of what is possible and how much further I can go to achieve my goals in fitness. I had the privilege to attend his HKC and his private RKC 1,2 prep workshop as a translator which was held in Korea this March.
To be honest I didn't expect that much as I already experienced his lecture during 2011 RKC Seoul workshop and thought it would be the same repeated contents
I WAS WAAAAAYY WRONG!!!!
From the very first day of his HKC worshop I was so astonished and blown away by his
straight-forward, yet deep and profound explaination of his training knowledge.
Every moment was a humbling experience for not just the students but me and other assistant RKCs!!!
His private RKC prep workshop is
A MUST HAVE. REGARDLESS WHETHER YOU ARE AN RKC OR NOT.
If there is anyone who thinks he/she knows most of the RKC training,
prepare to be humbled by attending his seminars.
You will not only discover knew things or missing parts
but also will learn things again which you thought you already knew.
His flexibility progression was by far the best info I had.
Sci-fi college-text-book-kind-of-stuffs never even comes close to his
practical and simple flexibility enhancement program.
Even though it was just a small taste of his flexibility program
the attendants were all blown away by how mobile they felt afterwards.
BTW about 90% ATTENDEES ALREADY KNEW HOW TO DO ONE-LEGGED SQUATS.
After his workshop I never looked back on other flexibility/mobility materials.
I hope this explains enough on how awesome his flexibility programs are.

A good teacher can connect with his students. I only had one full day of about 8 hours to learn from Jon Engum but he managed to get connected with his students in that short time and I learned a lot. I wish I had more time with him to learn but hopefully, maybe some other time.
I am happy and lucky to say that Jon Engum taught me the HCK cert.
He is an example for me on how to treat students with respect, give attention to individual needs but still being able to move the whole group to another level when the day was done.

The Extreme Mobility and Flexibility workshop was a huge game-changer. I had just found some recordings of an old flexibility seminar by Pavel, and I really wanted to learn that material. Maybe a week or two later, I found out about Jon's workshop, and signed up.
The amount of material that he goes through is immense--he crams almost two days worth into just 5 hours. Joint mobility from head to toe, and then TONS of flexibility work.
I have ten pages of notes from the workshop. I use the techniques he taught everyday in my training, and with all of my clients. Training with Jon has given me a whole 'toolbox' of flexibility techniques, and I recommend him highly.

Jon did a great job of breaking down the fundamentals of the swing, get up, and goblet squat at the HKC training I attended in Chicago. His explanations were clear and analogies used were spot on. In the few short weeks since Jon's flexibility workshop I have made great progress in my flexibility training. I used to dread the flexibility part of my training because I was tight and I never seemed to make progress. I now look forward to my flexibility training because I am making real progress applying the skills I learned at the workshop!
Jon has developed a frog progression that is very challenging, but when practiced over the span of the last few weeks I can feel a difference in the way my hips move. It is easier to get in proper deadlift and swing position!
Jon is a great communicator with a fun, enthusiastic teaching style. It is obvious Jon loves what he does! I make it point to learn from Jon whenever I have the opportunity.

I recently attended a flexibility workshop with Sr. RKC Jon Engrum in Chicago. I have all of Pavel's materials on stretching, flexibility and rehab. I also have Beyond Stretching. All of those are great, I have made good gains with them, but it is still not like doing it in person and having someone correct you on the finer points. I really did not know if I would get much out of this class or not, but I was very impressed with Jon and the material he taught.
I am glad that I attended. My shoulder flexibility increased dramatically, hips got more loose and unstuck, overall body range of motion increased easily.
Also at the end we really worked hard on some hip mobility and my legs were shaking when the class was over. I was not looking forward to a 6 hour drive home, but after some water it was gone. The next day I felt good instead or sore.
Great experience and well worth attending. I will probably take another one of Jon's classes in the future.

I first met MRKC Engum during the first ever RKC Course in Seoul November 2011. I regret after the seminar that I didnt get to ask him his vast knowledge about everything RKC and martial arts and flexibility. So, when I heard that he will be hosting a Pre RKC 2 seminar in Seoul, I signed up as soon as I could.
I was not disappointed, I really enjoyed MRKC Engum's style of teaching, he breaks everything down and makes it easy to understand. Its a very systematic way of getting amazing results. Because of his teachings/expertise I was able to clean & press 40 kg a new PR!!!

I attended the Margate certification class and enjoyed it so much, I was disapointed when it was over! The information was presented in the perfect way - very interesting and easy to follow. From the warm-up, instruction, work-out & hands-on learning- the whole day had a great flow to it and didn't seem rushed or trying to get too much in.
I think the safety aspect and proper handling of the bells was terrific.
I'd love to be the 'victim' in another seminar, just to be able to take more notes and soak up the info again!

I just complete the HKC training in Margate and have to say that I eas very impresses. Jon is a very knowledgeable instructor/trainer and he is very good at getting trainees to understand the concept of what they are doing. I learned so much about kettlebells and we only focused on 3 core skills of kettlebells. He taught me how to engage the proper muscle for the exercise performed and to really be mindful of technique. I feel really confident in my ability to teach my clients proper from and technique. Safety is so important with kettlebells and Jon drives that home hard. I just started a bootcamp business and I am so glad to be HKC certified. My bootcampers were really excited to practice the goblet squat and swings with proper execution. They felt the difference! Amazing! I highly recommend taking an HKC or RKC training with Jon. This was one of the best workshops and certs I've ever been to. Great stuff!

Awesome is the word i would use to describe my experience at the HKC course in Margate , NJ on Feb. 11 , 2012 . Mr. Engum was is an incredible instructor who not only had the knowledge and experience to instruct the class but also showed great patience with each student . If there is a certification that you want to involve yourself in to provide value to clients if you are a fitness professional, or you just want to be proficient with kettlebell training
then this is the starting point of that training. The instructors don't just tell you what they know, they show you what they know, and they work all day to shape your mind and body to absorb some of that knowledge to get you on the path to reach their level.
But only if you are determined to engage your heart, mind and body, this isn't a fluff 9 hour seminar with an automatic pass and certificate. You will work hard mentally and physically all day long, beginning to end, to learn, practice and demonstrate that you are proficient to execute and teach others the kettebell skills covered in the seminar. And when its over, the drive will be there to move on to the RKC, after all, if you can work hard to obtain the HKC, you will drive yourself and not give up until you get the next level. The one thing you can be absolutely sure of is that if you give 100 percent, the instructors you have will do the same.
Jon and the rest of the instructors took great pride in doing all they could to give you the tools to succeed, no fluff training here, if you weren't performing correctly, they stopped you and showed you what and how to change. Run, don't walk to get into the seminar coming your way, there will be a great sense of accomplishment, you will drive home knowing your time and money was well spent.

You can see why Jon Engum is one of the Masters of Kettlebells in the world. When he explains a movement, you will understand why you have to do it...and then you'll have to do it!! I had the pleasure of taking Mr. Engum's Strength & Flexibility seminar this past weekend here in NYC at Five Points Academy - it was a fascinating, super-educational afternoon, and Mr. Engum himself was a terrific instructor. Any two or three of the stretches and fixes he showed our group would have been worth the price of admission, and he showed us dozens. As an intermediate jiujitsu player and novice Thai boxer, I was especially interested in increasing my range of movement and stretching to prevent training injuries, and I got all that and more from Mr. Engum. He covered a huge amount of information with thoroughness and good humor, and managed to give each participant some personal attention and adjustment to suit their particular capabilities and concerns. All in all, a terrific seminar!

Jon's HKC in New York was worth the price just for the workout, worth more for the content, and priceless for the combination. It was simply the best workshop I've taken in decades of training.
Just his warmup had me exhausted but feeling surprisingly stronger, and immediately after his mobility drill I had flexibility and mobility I've never achieved in my life. By the end of the day I knew I'm capable of much more than I thought I was, had done it, and knew how to get better.
I left knowing how to execute perfectly the exercises taught because Jon, who patiently, clearly and pleasantly corrects the most severe of errors, pursues perfection. He seems to see your success as his own, and really strives to make you perfect. Alas, I for one fall far short of that objective, but I left his workshop better than I've ever been and knowing that I have room to grow. Thanks John.

I have trained with various RKC kettlebell instructors, my recent HKC certification/flexibility seminar with Joh Engum in August 2011 gave me witness to someone that has truly mastered how the body moves and how to train your body to gain more strength, movement and flexibility. I have always had trouble with my squat, and unfortunately had a pulled hip during my HKC. Joh taught me ways to move better through my hips with stretches using various techniques. People that have trained with me and were also at the HKC couldn’t believe how much better my squat had improved. They had a look of disbelief in their eyes, looking surprised that I could get as low as I did. I still have a lot more work to do, but now I have so much more tools for my toolbox, that Joh provided me with. He uses a progression of safe proper techniques based on a person’s skills. One person in our flexibility seminar had horrible shoulder mobility. Joh had him do a progression of stretches and by the end he has gained at least 8 inches. We were all so excited that we had to have him do a snatch, which had been hard for him in the past. His form in the snatch was awesome! Joh never makes you feel bad about what you can’t perform, he keeps working you along, helping you develop your flexibility with easy to follow instructions. He gives you the confidence and the means to improve. He provided me with a way to significantly increase my strength, improve my flexibility and the tools to help me spread the load. He is one of the best, caring, fun/humor, thoughtful, and humble instructors that I have worked with. He truly wants to improve each and every person that he works with from the least flexible to most. Everyone at both events had all improved in some way or another. He deserves a rating much higher than 10!

I met Mr. Engum while assisting at an HKC in Omaha, NE, and was absolutely blown away by the amount of knowledge, professionalism, and in-depth knowledge and understanding Jon brought to the event - and my expectations were already high! I watched almost in disbelief as he turned relatively good kettlebellers into outstanding kettlebellers in literally just a few short hours. Even as someone who graduated from the RKC instructor course, I learned a mountain of usable information about how better to teach the swing, squat, and get-up.
But for me, by far the most impressive was his Extreme Flexibility workshop. I am a pretty flexible and mobile guy as it is (I got a 20/21 FMS score the first time I was examined and have been told by a physical therapist that I have superior mobility), so I expected primarily to pick up a few tips and tricks, but was absolutely stunned at the amount I learned. I truly believe that his knowledge of the skills of flexibility and mobility and their hows and whys is second to none. This workshop was the first time in the years since having read "Relax Into Stretch" that I experienced any gains in flexibility, including the long-elusive full side splits. But better than all the above is that the next morning, I woke up without an ounce of pain in my shoulders and knees - areas that have been plaguing me since the beginning of this year. Physical therapy and numerous visits to the chiropractor took me far, but Jon's knowledge and teaching skill took me to the finish line.
If you ever get a chance to train with Jon, take it. His knowledge, professionalism, and superior teaching skills will make it one of the best decisions you'll ever make in your training.

First let me say what an incredible instructor Jon is. KB was first introduced to me by a friend via using dvd instruction. I had a hard time comprehending and following the dvd. Jon takes the level you are at and challenges you to go further. After 3 months of classes I noticed how much more stamina and endurance I had on race day. I cut almost 4 min from my 5K. I recently travelled to the USA for my RKC certification. I was fortunate enough to have Jon as my team leader. He was an effective teacher who was personable and took the time to make sure that people knew what they needed to do. Jon is a nice guy, but don't for a minute think that that means that he will let the quality of your movement slip cause he doesn't want to hurt your feelings. I get many chances to observe the Senior RKCs at every HKC we run in Australia or at any of the events I attend during the year.
I first met Jon Engum in May 2010 where he happily spent time with me giving me ideas for articles for a martial arts magazine I write for. Then again in Philly at the RKC III event he impressed me with his easy going, blue collar approach to training and instruction.
Already this year I have managed to spend time with him twice. At the marketing event in San Diego Jon gave away some of his business marketing secrets and all I can say is WOW. His ideas really jump started some of my own programs and have made enormous difference in just two months.
This weekend I was lucky enough to be an assistant on his team at the biggest RKC event ever. His evident knowledge and experience shone through all weekend. What really stood out however was his communication ability when dealing with people's disappointment at things not going their way.

I just had to let everyone know what the difference between 9 weeks of quality instruction made VS. 4-5 years if intermitent practice. I went to Jon Engum to get an evaluation of my technique before I was to do an RKC workshop, and I was sooo glad I did! Basically I was off on everything except my clean. Needless to say I opted to work with him on fine tuning everything at that point.
I clearly could see this guy knew his stuff, but didn't really realize how fortunate I was to have had him work with me until I got to the workshop. A lot of what was being shown to us Jon had done with me to help clean up my technique and I was really glad to see how consistant everything in the program.
But what really drove home how fortunate I was to have worked with Jon was when Pavel picked to me demonstrate how to switch hands when alternating hands, and how I used my hips tp clean the bells, and then he piced me again to demonstrate how I use my hips to swing the bell.
Now remember 9 weeks piror to this I was flawed on my techinque the worst at that time was my swing! Yes, my swing was the worst manuver I was doing before I worked with Jon, 9 weeks later Pavel was picking me to demonstrate my technique!! And I give ALL the credit to jon Engum!
Bottom line with out having gotten help from him I don't think I would have passed the RKC or at very least have done as well.

RKC is still my goal. But the HKC was too convenient to pass up. Well not too convenient. When I discovered that Jon Engum would be leading the class, I decided fly back home to Fort Worth from a sunny beach vacation down south for one day so I could make the class. This was my first encounter with Jon Engum, and one that will remain in my mind (and body) for a long time. I say this because Jon not only has an expert vision for detecting flaws in form and technique, but a resolution.
I came to HKC with absolutely no prior experience using kettle bells. I had not even held one. With Jon's help, I left the course not only with the ability to perform kettle bell workouts safely and effectively, but I learned how to teach.
Jon covered everything of importance i.e. safety, mechanics, how to breakdown each exercise, how to detect flaws and make corrections, how to reconstruct each exercise, and gave us all a hands on feel for the kettle bell workout experience.
He was tough, respectful, and insightful and I will encourage others to seek his guidance. I took this course to learn what kettle bell workouts are about, and with Jon's teaching and training skills, I certainly found out.

My wife and I each could spend $500 from our tax return. she bought tickets to Vegas, I went to the April 11th 2010 HKC in Chicago. I'm glad I went to Chicago and not to Vegas, I have something that will stay with me for a life time. Jon Engum is an excellent instructor. He made kettlebell training easy to understand and fun. His depth of knowledge on kettlebells and physical fitness are amazing. He also surrounded himself with a great group of RKC team leaders. Anyone who has been training with kettlebells or is new to kettlebells should train with Jon Engum, he will correct what you are doing wrong and help you build on what you are doing right.

I took the HKC class in Chicago and i can attest to the great instruction recieved. Jon was awesome in the fundamentals of using the kettlebells. I have been working with the bells for about 2 years and getting back to the basics was a great reminder of how we should be doing swings,getups,etc. I can bring these training tips back to my F.D. and keep my guys in shape for our jobs. Greetings to THE PEOPLE! 2 years ago I got in my hands for the first time Pavel's Hard-Style Magazine where John Du Cane with his eloquent style describes the amazing magic power of Kettle Bells, I was smitten. I sent for videos and a pair of 8 K KBs. I used them. Next day my body felt like it had been beaten badly. I didn't touched them for months and continued with my lame run of the mill ordinary gym classes. Nothing happened! no change, body looked the same, no strength, no tone, nothing, no motivation, no transformation. I kept reading the Hard-Style mag., and looking longingly to my KBs. Finally 3 months ago I picked them up, next day pain! this time I welcome it and in 4 weeks went from 8k to 16k! finally my arms, legs and abs started to look defined. Friends noticed, I let go of all lame gym classes. I had wish to learn to dance and before KB's I had tried to take a West African dance class. I've always wanted to dance, but this class demanded tremendous endurance power that I didn't have before. One day after using my KBs I went to try again and this time after 3 months of KB's training my dance teacher used me as an example of endurance and strength as I am the oldest in his class, I am double the age of the dancers and can dance 4 times longer than them. When asked how I do it I answer "haven't heart of kettlebells?" and I started carrying in my car my KB's to show friends and strangers what is a KB and I would swing it. Unfortunately I was swinging them wrong, that is until I signed for Master Jon Engum HKC instructor certification Course. And nothing has compared to HIS INSTRUCTIONS! in all 20 years i've taken lessons in health and fitness no body has been as precise about FORM! he also stressed safety of injury to self or others. HE is one word: PRECISION! BEAUTIFUL PRECISION IN EVERY WAY! HE IS IMMACULATE IN HIS FORM AND SHOWING US HOW TO EMULATE THAT FORM. And once again HE FOCUSES ON SAFETY! SAFETY, SAFETY FIRST, FORM AND LET ME NOT FORGET TO MENTION THE WARM UP ...INCREDIBLE to watch how the body's tense muscles yield to the stretching movements Mr. Engum taught us, was one of the best moments of the training . I am a 62 year old grandmother and I signed up with for this workshop due to the urging of my son, with much reservation. I grew up in an era where physical activity was not as popular and non-athletes were not encouraged so I must admit that my nerves got the best of me.
Senior RKC Jon Engum was very thorough in his approach to teaching the outlined material for the HKC course. I gained many insights into these core movements that really pushed my technique into new areas. The corrective exercises and mobility drills were worth the price of admission.
Jon is a very patient instructor who was also able to dish out the right amount of "tough love" to drive home the high points of the swing, squat, and Turkish get-up
I hope that he makes it to Chicago again.

Jon Engum is a great instructor and I strongly suggest attending one of his workshops. I'd been training with kettlebells for 3 months before attending the HKC workshop and I now have a better understanding of the correct way to work with kettlebells. His workshop will guide you step by step on how to safely train and teach a great workout. What I was most impressed with during the training is his attention to detail. Jon taught us how to properly move in order to avoid injuries so that the correct muscles are being cued. I definitely plan on attending another one of his workshops in the future and I would highly recommend you do the same.

Jon Engum led the HKC that I just attended in Chicago. His instruction was outstanding, and full of details. He masterfully kept things moving and on pace. He artfully demonstrated the corrective strategies for each move by having us practice and then picking a participant that was having difficulty, showed the correction and how to apply it, which of course had an immediate impact on performance. This was always done in a positive improvement atmosphere. Reading the HKC manual after the class, I realized how many things he covered that were not in the manual, I wish I had a video tape of the entire day to help me remember everything that was covered. Jon's style is friendly, but he commands the attention and respect of everyone there. It was a great day and I can see why he is a Senior Instructor.

I recently attended the Chicago HKC workshop lead by John Engum and was very pleased with the experience. John brought great energy to the training (also made it feel like bootcamp, but that's what these things are about) and he really knows how to take command of a room with his presence. Safety was first and foremost on his mind as I saw him constantly checking to make sure his team leaders were doing their jobs. He lead us through an incredibly thorough warm up at the beginning of the class that kept us going all day and took us through some great hip flexibility exercises that I had never seen before (with 15 years of martial arts experience that's saying something).
Overall very pleased and would highly recommend this instructor.

Attended Detroit Lakes Intro to Kettlebell class 2/27/10 and as usual Learned more about safety and techiniques to follow. I have attended his beginner class(2) before and now realize this class is a great way to review and still learn more. He teaches in Brainerd and if you want to tone and trim up consider trying this method of exercise. I recently completed the HKC with Jon in Denver, and it was like drinking from a fire hose. He had a wealth of knowledge and was an excellent instructor. He held us to the highest of standards. Not only did he demand perfection, but he knew how to get you there.
I left the HKC wanting to know more, but also needed time to absorb all the information I received. The workouts were great and left me fatigued and wanting a little more. As soon as I got home, I started practicing all the new stuff I learned.
I'm glad I got the opportunity to take his class and wouldn't hesitate taking another one with him.

Master Jon truly lives up to his title. He can pin point and correct even the slightest imperfection in technique helping you gain the best results for your effort while avoiding injuries from bad form. I have tried various other non kettle bell workouts but got little to no useful results and spent a lot of time on next to nothing. Jon was able to help me drop 20bs and trim 4 inches from my waist with a minimal investment of time. The only thing you really need to bring to his class is the effort to meet your fitness goals and a kettle bell... he will help you take care of the rest. I used to be enrolled in Tae Kwon Do with Jon Engums Acadamy. It was my first instruction and use of kettlebells. When I picked one up the first time I was "what am suppose to do with this thing". Without his expert instruction, extensive experience and incomprehensibly vast knowledge base (seriously, Jon has an instant fix to tweak every technique!) this cert would not have run as smoothly as it did, nor would I have gained the information that I have. After this cert with Jon I am not only confident with my own technique, but comfortable teaching others the same techniques. From the most basic lifts to the advanced throws, Mr Engum helps refine and perfect your technique to optimise your results. I've just signed up for my 5th session (or is it 6?)with Jon. Need I say more? Okay, I will. Kettlebell class with Jon is a lot of hard work on my part combined with his expertise, ability to motivate and challenge me, and his humor. It's a lot of fun. I had Jon as an instructor for the HKC certification course I took in December. Jon was very professional and an excellent teacher. Not only was he proficient at teaching the various drills, he was excellent at troubleshooting, making sure the drills were being performed correctly and safely.
Jon's knowledge base is very broad. I had trouble trying to remember all the fantastic tips Jon showed us during the day. I have been training with Kettlebells for three years and thought I didn't have much left to learn about the "basics". Boy was I wrong! The Devil IS in the details! I learned so much in that one day training with Jon that my head hurt almost as much as the rest of me. Fantastic!!!

I recentely attended an HKC instructor certification which was being taught by Jon. I had heard and read great things about Jon and felt very lucky to have the chance to work with him. I really enjoyed Jon Engum's seminar. I had a major leg injury two and a half years ago and as a result, I have lost a lot of my flexibility and mobility and I am in almost constant pain from this injury. At the close of the seminar, I could tell I was a lot more flexible and now a couple days later, I seem to have less pain. I have been doing the mobility exercises every morning since the seminar and they have helped me a lot. I work as a physical education teacher and was able to incorporate much of the material into my physical education classes this week. This was a very worth while seminar and I would definitely take it again if it was offered.

Our martial arts school hosted Jon's Extreme Flexibility Seminar and it was a very impressive event. Initially, I had to coax a few people in who were a little unsure of paying "just to learn some stretches." I think it's safe to say that all of them felt it was worth every penny within the first hour of the event. We had two martial artists who had never been able to touch their toes reaching all the way to the floor in no time. Imagine what that does for their kicking! It is vital to have a qualified instructor there to correct mistakes that you would never know you made training with a video or book. The SCIENCE behind his techniques makes sense and gets RESULTS. We even had parents and a grandparent of some of our students participate and they had a great time.

As a lifelong martial artist, I found this stretching seminar, as taught by Jon Engum, to be very beneficial. I have struggled with hip, calve muscle, and lower back flexibility issues throughout my training, came looking for answers, and found them! Although I had previously been through the video versions of both the Matt Furey and Thomas Kurtz courses, the addition of having a QUALIFIED instructor made a big difference. The material and course offering was just strenuous enough, although maybe one more water-break might have been in order. Thanks, Jon.

Multiple knee injuries over the last 30 years, along with bone spurs and arthritis in my neck and back, have restricted me from typical aerobic and weight training workouts ... I would leave with my joints killing me, and frustrated not knowing what to do to attempt a healthy, active lifestyle. Chronic migraines have also plagued the last 15 years, mostly caused by the muscle miss-alignment in my neck. My husbands buddies urged him to send me to this class. I was nervous I couldn't handle the intensity BUT to my surprise the first class relieved the pain in my neck and back AND Jon was very conscious of my form to avoid knee pain and injury. I have been migraine free for two months ... this is a priceless gift!
Due to work I did miss 5 classes within the session, yet still soaked in the benefits. I'm looking forward to taking the fall session to continue the flexibility, strength and aerobic training that is untouched by any other workout I've experienced. Jon has extensive knowledge of how the entire muscle system works together. His unique training pulls the best out of everyone, challenging, yet keeping within their abilities. I haven't felt this pain free in years. My family is also excited that I'm feeling better and able to live our life easier. We just completed our second two month session of Body Reconstruction instructed by Jon Engum and it was even better than the first. Jon continues to impress me with his knowledge not just with kettlebells but with how to train to become stronger and more flexible. Jon teaches you the importance of muscle strengthing but also strengthening stablizers to be able to lift more weight more often without injury.
The second session was not a start over from the beginning but a review of what we learned and then a continuation on how to master the kettlebell workouts. I have never walked away from kettlebell class thinking that was too easy today. I also have never thought that a class was above my skill level either. My wife introduced me to kettlebells. I've lifted weights on and off most of my life and was at first skeptical of this workout. How was I supposed to get a workout from such a small weight? Well, after the first class all my doubts were gone. Jon quickly showed me that with the correct exercises and form, a kettlebell workout will rival any strength, flexibility, and cardio workout that I've ever experienced. I heard about Jon Engum and kettlebells via the local newspaper. I had been working out with kettlebell DVD's for a couple months, but decided to take on Jon's course as well.
During the first couple classes, I learned there were several exercises I was doing incorrectly which made me prone to injury. Jon did an excellent job teaching the proper tecqniques necessary to ensure optimal results. This led to a strong foundation for amazing workout sessions. Jon is no-nonsense and no-frills. During some tough workouts, you may ask yourself; "Why am I paying for this?" But the answer comes quickly within a few weeks when you notice tone, shape, strength, endurance and motivation.

I took part in a workshop held in Seoul, Korea featuring Jon and Doc (I am a Japanese living in Seoul).
Jon referred himself "mean" compared to Doc (Dr. Cheng). Yes, he was so tough, but every one of us felt his love to us in his bottom. He has tremendous phisical strength, but demonstrated KB with technique.
T-rex Swings for Cleans and Short Snatch to master punching up are very unique and effective approaches.
He gets really tough and severe when it comes to safety. This is the most basic but important for training. The master never forgets it.

I have not spent very much time in a gym since college over 24 years ago. I have always wanted to find a workout that did not take 2 hours a day, this is the one. I've been very impressed by the instruction I've received from Jon Engum. First, my husband attended two series of classes and in our 19 years of marriage I have NEVER witnessed my husband taking part in a fitness regimen of any kind, but Jon challenged and motivated him. My husband is continuing to work out with others who were in the classes with him. My personal experience is that Jon is VERY DETAILED and VERY PRECISE in his teaching. He pays close attention to the process of learning each of the moves and is able to break it down into small parts so the students learn how to do it right. In addition to the "parts" of the move, he offers instruction in other exercises and stretches that help build strength and flexibility to enable each person to do the moves correctly. I have been an athlete my entire life, but my exercise always revolved competetive sports. Running and weight lifting always bored me, so playing b-ball, v-ball, etc. was all I did to try and stay in shape. As I entered my late 30's I could tell that I was loosing strength and stamina. I heard about Kettlebells from a instructor and the gym and she told me that I would love the workout. Last spring I took a seminar from Jon and got hooked on Kettlebells. I am writing this for anyone toying with the idea to get started with the training. I have been in a few different contact sports but have never seen results like kettlebells. Jon is an exellent teacher.
Two years ago I had a hip replacement that took a long time to get back on mt feet again. Last spring I knew I had to have the other hip replaced so I started training with Jon throughout the summer. It was hard but Jon got me in shape like I had never been in before. After training for the summer and early fall I booked surgery for November. Usually after the replacement they keep you in the hospital for 4 to 5 days. Jon had me in such good shape that The morning after the replacement I was strong enough and passed the physical therapy requirments and was released from the hospital 48 hours after surgery and the therapist could not believe it, so I told her about kettlebells. So if you want results you have to get hold of Jon,you wont be sorry.

As a former collegiate and professional athlete, I have been part of many different types of strenuous workouts and I have never been as sore as I was after the first kettlebell class. I have seen a great improvement in my posture, core, and overall strength to date and my cardiovascular fitness has improved dramatically as well. This 6 week kettlebell class taught by Jon Engum has really made a difference for me. I have improved in strength, flexibility, stamina and more. All I can say is Wow!!! Master Jon has a great program with kettle bells. I was talked into it by a friend/ Co-worker. she looked good before, and with taking the class this summer is really tone and in shape. I have noticed that I am a lot more tone and have lost weight with this program. I love doing the weight lifting and the cardio all together. I dont have a lot of time to work out between work and coaching. What got me, was that same friend saying that she only worked out for 10 min 3 times a week. I did not believe her at first but I do now. I really feel like this has gotten my work out schedule back in line. Im signed up for the next session and very excited to learn more. Master Jon is a very good instructor and knows how to push people hard enough to be effective and without going to far. Sure there is a little pain involved (pain is temporary), but let me tell you... IT IS WORTH IT!! Thank you Jon! It was great!!

Several months ago Jon came to our Fire Department and gave us a demonstration of the Kettlebell, it was amazing. I now had the opportunity to join one of Jon's body reconstruction projects and am hooked on training with the kettlebell. The kettlebell provides amazing results in the conditioned athlete to those individuals just begining to work at conditioning their bodies. Jon is an amazing instructor and is very attentive to each individual in the class, ensuring that each student is reproducing each movement in the most accurate and safe way to ensure that the student is reaching the maximum potential that they can achieve. I am in my second session of K-bell training with Jon. When I started I was near the worst shape of my life. The first couple weeks left me refreshed and sore. I had the opportunity to attend Master Jon Engum's Mobility and Flexibility Workshop. I am also one of his Tae Kwon Do and Russian Kettlebell students. He is a wealth of knowledge in fitness and training and never lets you down. There is always measurable results. Every time I train with him, I find myself making new training goals. I have never been to one of his workshops in which I wasn't motivated to try more or improve technique. This time I volunteered to work on my middle splits. It was very invigorating. I couldn't tell how far I got down into the splits but I'm sure it was pretty low because my sister-in-law told me she saw jaws dropping from the people who were behind me. Yes, I was able to walk out of the class. In fact, the next night I had a belt test and was still able to kick hard and high enough to break my boards, survive the 2-minute suicide drill and pass the test. There is no reason to train elsewhere if there is a fitness instructor like Master Jon in your area. Thanks Master Jon:)!!

My husband had previous experience with the kettlebell through Jon and was trying to get me to work out with him. I would usually just brush him off. I thought the idea of working out with just a ball was wierd. Jon was offering a Body Recontruction Project-Club Kettlebell in DL and my husband asked me to join and I finally gave in. Wow!!!! Who thought that a kettlebell could replace all aspects of a workout, including cardio?!! It does!! What impressed me from the moment we started was Jon's teaching style. My fitness level was non-existent and there was rarely a day that went by that I didn't hurt from being so inactive. Pretty sad sight I was. From day one, Jon made it easy to follow along and his knowledge in kettlebells/fitness/health is beyond impressive. Jon varied each workout so it kept things interesting and challenging. The nice thing about the variety is that you always left each workout learning something new. Jon is an excellent teacher and a great motivator. He is meticulous about form, technique, and safety. Working with a kettlebell has given me the fastest results of any workout I have done in the past. No need to buy anything more then a kettlebell if you want to workout. Jon is the best at what he does so why wouldn't you want to learn from the best? I can't believe I actually love working out now but these workouts with Jon have really changed my life. As someone who is in the health profession, I am reminded daily the benefits of working out for both short and long term. I am athletically challenged but recognized I needed some kind of exercise program for general health. I let a coworker talk me into taking Jon's kettlebell class. If Jon can work with me he can work with anyone. Jon is an excellent instructor. He is an expert, yet can bring things down to the lowest level. He challenges you but also recognizes an individual's limitations. I hurt after the first class but knew right away that this was something that was going to be good for my back and neck. On the same day the stimulus check showed up, Jon announced that he was opening up a new summer class. Both my wife and I have wanted to join the kettlebell class since we took the seminar over a year ago. I've tried different workout packages before with club memberships and weight contraptions and I've been disappointed in my results. After working with Jon Engum I can see a difference in my attitude toward my workout and my results are more what I had been looking for all along. I still can't believe that a concept this simple, when done with the proper instruction, is so incredibly effective. This workshop provided that extra training I had been looking for! I only wish I was 18 again and just beginning my college career as a three sport athlete. But the reality is that I am a 50+ female who has suffered from recent back and hip problems.
HERE'S THE GOOD PART- I actually feel great(24 hours later) after my first kettlebell training session lasting four hours. This couldn't be possible without expert instruction in proper technique. I believe the kettlebell training will be good for my back and hip.
Jon's exercises/stretching instruction was also very benefical in that he showed us "how" to get more strength and flexiblity into our moves while using conserving energy.

So, let me say, Jon is so incredibly motivational that I wanted to do everything in the workshop. But...my shape and my "in shape" are not up to all of his challenges. I could participate in almost everything and was on Jon's radar, as was everyone, so we all were doing the moves with supervison to correct us to better form. The kettelbells convinced me that a great workout and cardio-weight loss workout was there (the heart was pumping and the muscles were burning!) I'm looking forward?! to the arrival of my own kettlebell.

Jon did a great job at this course! I was absolutely blown away by this workout. Not only was I huffing and puffing a lot during my session but I actually felt my lungs start to burn! And the only other time I have felt a burn like that was when I was running in the mountains in Colorado! You just can't get a better full body workout then this. I have been an athlete my whole life but this is really something. What other workout can you go to where u can increase strength, flexibility, range of motion, and endurance all at the same?
Also you could tell everyone in the class had a good time and really enjoyed his teaching. Jon Engum... what can I say but WOW! What an amazing instructor! Jon recently did a kettlebell session at our fire department and I will openly admit that I have not been through such an intense strength and conditioning workout like Jon and the kettlebell provided. I have heard about the kettlebell in the past and could not bring myself to believe that throwing a cannon ball with a handle on it around could provide such a full core workout. Jon walked us through several different techniques with the kettlebell, some of which seemed to be specifically designed for the type of demands that are placed on us as firefighters. Jon spent time with us showing us the proper and safe way of performing these techniques, it was amazing how fast the time went. Jon, with his proficiant instructing techniques kept the attention of all the firefighters who participated in the session with great ease. Near the end of the session Jon put us through a workout with the techniques he had instructed us on, in 7 minutes he had me feeling like I had just completed one of my 45 minute weight lifting workouts combined with a 2 mile run. Amazing, I felt so good after the work out, and only 7 minutes! Jon definately won me over on the kettlebell. Thanks Jon, now can someone help me up from this chair?

Just finished Jon Engum's Kettlebell training for Firefighters. I would say it was the best workout I've had in my 20 years on the department. We ran thru the basics and then went onto workouts specifically designed for firefighters. This workout seemed to give me a total body workout in a short amount of time. The results were above what was expected. Jon is an expert instructor and could relate to the various levels of fitness of the firefighters. Jon met with me on his own personal time to give me instruction on Kettlebells. I was extremely impressed with his instruction. Over the past three years I have been in Master Jon's kettle bell training classes. Each time I learn something new, improve an already learned technique, or gain another angle on kettle bell workouts. In the beginning of 2006, I joined a kettle bell workout with Master Jon for about 12 weeks. During that time, my ability to do snatches (which I originally detested) improved dramatically. In a snatch contest, I did 100 snatches with each arm in ten minutes. We also worked on pull-ups. I don't know if I was ever able to do pull-ups, even when I was younger. By the end of July, I was able to do my first unassisted pull-up. The next month I was able to 2 pull-ups. Why doing pull-ups is a goal in my fifth decade of life is a mystery to me!
The versatility of kettle bells has really impressed me. Because it uses the whole body instead of just one muscle group at a time, I think a kettle bell workout gives a better, balanced body workout. Master Jon keeps showing us endless variations. His knowledge, skill and teaching ability helps his students safely perform kettle bell drills with good technique. What makes him stand out is the number of power, breathing, flexibility, etc. tips he has to help us get the max out our kettle bells. Lastly, he does all this with a sense of humor and camaraderie!

When I began kettlebells with Jon Engum, also my taekwondo master, I was surprised to discover that it was much more than just swinging a ???cannonball with a handle.??? As always, Master Jon is thoroughly knowledgeable in the physical, mental and physiological aspects of the discipline. He is extremely competent at communicating this to his students, so that I understand how to do the technique correctly and why it works. Master Jon???s enthusiasm and motivational skills make me want to keep going until I ???cough up a hairball.??? The results have been great???strengthening of previously unknown muscles, increased endurance, and greater awareness of how my muscles work together. It even helped my rock climbing abilities! Master Jon is an incredible instructor and kettlebells are a great workout.

I have been training in Tae kwon do under Master Jon Engum since the age of six and have never been disappointed with his ability as an instructor. He is creative in his teaching plans and motivational in his presentation of them. The fact that some small part of me actually enjoyed bear-walking backwards up a hill with my muscles on fire and rocks digging into my palms is testament to that. In the last twelve years, I have taken classes in Taekwondo, Kumdo, and Kettlebells from Jon Engum, and felt that his instruction was amazing through all three. Learning kettlebells with Master Jon has been especially interesting, because he has learned the science (anatomy mostly) behind every move and he takes the time to explain the relationship during classes.

I attended a kettle bell introductory class at John Engum's accademy in Brainerd and was very impressed. The work out routine with a kettle bell opened my eyes to a whole new style of excercise. It provides an excellent way to efficiently and quickly get positive results. Mr. Engum's style of instruction was very direct, informative and fun. He displays very clear and indepth knowledge of his field and can translate that to his students very effectively. The class was paced for learning the excercises slowly, then picking up speed, with a major stress on safety. I would whole heartedly recommend Jon to anyone who is interested in learning a better way to stay in shape or improve their physical condition.

As a Martial Arts instructor for 16 years, we come to think our warm-ups and the way we do things in our own gyms are the law. Going to Master Engums' seminar gave me a whole new excitement to teach warm-ups in my gym. I implemented alot of the stretching techniques into my classes and have seen improvement in my own flexibility, escpecially when I lead 7 different warm-ups per night. It has also given my adult classes soem great challenges too.

I have know Jon since he was in his teens. Everything he does he does with intensity. I have trained with him in Tae Kwon Do. I have been to his flexibility course. I have taken his kettle ball training. Everytime he motivates me to keep going. He is just that type of a guy. Plus he is a NICE PERSON.

Being in my mid-sixties, I was seeking methods to keep fit; Jon Engum's classes on Mobility and on Kettlebell use have shown me the way to do so without spending a lot and without having to spend hours in a gym. He is a demanding, yet patient, instructor. He demonstrates the proper technique, leads you through it, then carefully watches to ensure that you do the technique correctly. He is safety-conscious and ever encouraging you to move beyond your current state. I heartily recommend this instructor.

I have been working with Kettlebells since January of this year with Master Jon Engum. Since then I have noticed dramatic changes in not only my strength but endurance. Master Jon is an awesome instructor. He teaches you the basics (and helps you to perfect them) and then challenges you to the next level. One of the best things about working out with Kettlebells is being able to diversify each workout including the workout times.
Measureable milestones I have met since starting Kettlebells:
Pistols!! (The infamous one-legged squat to rock bottom. I was able to do a pistol after a month of 3 times a week of training with Kettlebells)
Pullups!! (I was not able to do a single pullup but can now do 3-4)
Lasted in a Tae Kwon Do sparring match without losing by a 7 point deficit!! (5 months earlier I lost to the same opponent by a 7 point deficit)
Have energy to spar more than 1 match!!
Clean and press a 16kg bell!!
Place 2nd and 3rd in 2 5K marathons!! (The only training I was doing was Kettlebells 3 times a week and Tae Kwon Do 2 times a week. No, I didn't do any training by running and I would not recommend to just go out and run a marathon but anyone who knows me, knows I like a good challenge!)
I have been awed by what Kettlebells have done for me and I am grateful to be able to train with an instructor with the magnitude of knowledge Master Jon Engum has.

I am a former US Marine, (12 years since I was in, not so lean, not so mean, but still a Marine). I am no longer in shape and I don't work out. My nine year old daughter has been taking Tae Kwon Do classes from Master Jon Engum for over a year and loves it. That is how I was invited to take a Kettlebell seminar. I was also a Tae Kwon Do student for three years in the mid 1980's. When I took the Kettlebell seminar I was extremely impressed by the ability of Master Jon Engum to motivate and communicate the ideas and concepts necessary to participate to such a wide array of individuals with varying levels of athletic ability. I was able to invigorate my entire body in a way that I hadn't felt in several years. After watching and participating in Master Jon Engum's classes I firmly believe he can help anyone attain whatever physical fitness goals they have in a way that will have a lasting, positive effect.

Been Student of Master John Engum for four and half years. Have had one Seminar of Kettlebells with him. I was amased at how even though at times it was discomforting as a beginner, never did I feel I pulled or strained my muscles. normal free whaights and free whaight lifting can easily leave you with pulled muscles and over doing yourself. But Master Engum traines you to hit the limits of your strength and plow through them saftly and with much increase in strength and endurance.

I attended an intro kettle bell class that Master Jon held in Baxter. I instantly realized I was in for a great workout. Master Jon dissected each exercise and movement, showed us how to improve techniques, and challenged us to exceed our expectations. Three plus hours flew by before I knew it. The workout was incredible! The cardio and strength training provided by the kettle bell was both strenuous and fun. I would recommend Master Jon to anyone considering kettle bell training.

I am a 50 year old male that was looking for some way to stay in shape. I trained with Master Jon in Tae Kwon Do for 2 years and it was almost all I could handle. When he introduced Russian Kettlebell training I fell in love with my kettlebell. The work outs were exactly what I was looking for. The training was excellent and three years later I am still using my kettlebell to stay in shape.
I was very impressed with the way Master Jon could individualize his training to ensure each person was being pushed and doing the excercises correctly. His classes were helpful because it was difficult to understand proper technique simply from the book and video.

I've attended Jon Engum's classes for two years. For me, it's all about results and the data proves it! I've logged every workout from the beginning. Swings, squats, pull-ups, get-ups, snatches, you name it. Every category has doubled and even tripled and that is AFTER the bump in weight. I started with a single 16Kb bell. I now do doubles with 28ks and I'm ready to move up to a 32K.
