10/10 Great Instructors, great classes

By Michael Gaither / Montgomery Village, MD, USA

I've worked with Jason prior to taking kettlebell classes for other strength training techniques (for physical therapy), and he gave effective instruction then, so I was confident that the kettlebell classes would be safe and effective. I was not wrong! Jason (and the other instructors) focus on proper form for each of the exercises as well as stress the importance of a proper warm up and post-workout stretch. I trust the instruction I receive in these classes and have been delighted with the results. The instructors also make these challenging workouts fun. I joined these classes as an endurance athlete looking for a good strength training routine to supplement my training. I highly recommend these classes. You will enjoy them!

10/10 Kettlebells, for the win!

By Whitney Kase / Adelphi, USA

For years I have deemed myself the "cardio queen", because that is primarily what I did in my workouts, mainly focused on how many calories I was burning. I started training with Jason Schreiber a few months ago to begin my journey with a new focus: strength training. Now, I love my cardio, don't get me wrong. I will still make time for it from time to time, but I primarily train with kettlebells now every week. "Addicted" is an understatement!

I can finally feel and see myself getting stronger. I've maintained the same weight, but built more muscle, and become leaner. It is hard work, but SO worth it! Kettlebells are the ideal workout for those who want to workout less, and finally get results. Maryland Kettlebells with Jason Schreiber is a fantastic and safe place to exceed!

10/10 Intense, Informed, Interesting and Inspiring

By Fritz Meyer / Ashton, Maryland, USA

If you want an intense physical workout that incorporates elements of balance, strength, cardio and flexibility taught by informed, safety conscious teachers and is always interesting, then Jason's (along with Yvette and Whitney) classes are just the thing for you. I'm 56 years old and in many ways I'm in the best shape of my life because of Jasons kettlebell classes. By the way, my 20 year old daughter enjoys and gets a lot out of the classes as well.

10/10 Jason is the man!

By Patrick C / Gambrills, MD

I started organized training when I was got into Tae Kwon Do in 6th Grade. I went on to manage a fitness center and receive a commission in the Army and have served in Airborne and Special Operations units for over 25 years. Needless to say, I have been exposed to all kinds of coaches, trainers and physical therapists over the years.

My chiropractor introduced me to Jason and it has been one of the best things to happen to me. I was a basket case when I came to him. He taught me how my exercise patterns were causing me injuries. He retaught me how to exercise in a sustainable manner that has extended my career.

His kettlebell class has been a critical part of my physical rehabilitation. He is very sharp and dedicated. He explains how to do an exercise properly and avoid injuries to his students better than anyone I have met. He has eyes in the back of his head and can spot someone using bad form and then correct them right away. His workouts are challenging but are tailorable to the skill and fitness levels of the various participants. It is not uncommon to see young athletes and 65 year old grandmothers in the same class. I am able to maintain a high level of fitness and avoid injury by participating in his class.

Jason is a true professional and his coaching goes beyond his class in that he will follow up with you outside of class to ensure you are meeting your goals. I give him the highest recommendation.

10/10 Top All-Around Workout

By Michael W / Potomac, USA

It's no accident that kettlebells have become so hot in the fitness world. They provide an awesome workout both aerobically and anaerobically.

But you need to learn from someone who knows what they're doing. Jason certainly does -- he's fully certified in kettlebell training/teaching as well as being an award-winning competitor in cross-fit and other events.

And he really knows how to teach. Although the classes are in a group setting, Jason provides individualized instruction, whatever your fitness level.

You'll get a safe, effective workout like you've never had before. I thought I was in pretty good shape before taking up kettlebells, but now my fitness is at a whole new level.

As other reviewers have noted, the classes are fun as well. It's a friendly bunch.

So whether you want to attend the classes on a regular basis, or just get some basic kettlebell instruction and start training on your own, Jason is the best.

9/10 A Solid, Effective, Well-Rounded Workout

By Neal M / Takoma Park, MD, USA

Traditionally, I'm an endurance athlete. I wanted to balance out by incorporating more strength training and HIIT training. Originally I was looking into various cross-fit gyms, but this class was in a convenient location so I tried Jason's Kettlebell instead. It's worked out well for me.

I keep coming back because Jason's class is working across several domains. If I were just concerned with high intensity interval training, or just concerned with bicep hypertrophy, then there are more specific workouts that might better achieve those goals. But with this class I'm getting strength, interval training, flexibility, coordination, injury prevention, and a full body workout that hits my arms, legs, and core.

If you have a weak spot or an imbalance, Jason is going to make you address that, even if you'd rather focus on your strengths. If somebody is having a problem properly performing the exercise throughout the entire range of motion, Jason will recommend dropping the weight or performing an alternate exercise to address the weakness. To Jason's credit, I've never seen anybody get injured in one of his classes. In fact, many people are there to recovery from injuries they sustained elsewhere.

Jason runs a challenging hour-long class that has delivered solid results on a month-to-month basis. I'm getting stronger, leaner, and I can handle more intense workouts. I've lost a decent amount of fat and gained muscle in equal quantities. After about 5 months of Jason's class, I dropped 2 to 3 inches off my jeans. At the same time, my weight is unchanged, so I've put on a decent amount of muscle.

10/10 Great workout

By Linda Barrett / Silver Spring, USA

I've been doing kettlebells with Jason for about 1 1/2 years. I enjoy kettlebells because incorporates all of the muscles of the body during a workout. The focus of routines are varied .... max strength, technique / form, or cardio. Jason is also able to tailor the workouts to the needs of the people in the class. I highly recommend Jason and Maryland Kettlebells.

10/10 Flexibility and Strength

By Leslie Casey / Derwood, United States

Kettlebells with Jason has been the key to my maintaining and then significantly improving my flexibility and strength. This is particularly important to me as I have passed my 60th birthday. The aging process naturally reduces muscle, but kettlebells with Jason effectively counters that keeping me strong and able. Thanks, Jason, for your expertise, support and enthusiasm !!

10/10 Great workout

By M James / Silver Spring, USA

I went to the class after surgery and was very pleased with the result .. Jason makes it so pleasant and fun even for people like me who hates working out 2 thumbs up.. see u soon Jason

9/10 Fantastic!

By Gabe Chernoff / Kensington, Montgomery

I have been attending class with Jason for a long time. I have tried different exercise programs over the years, but nothing compares to training with Kettlebells. Jason has a large part to do with that. He keeps the class interesting and fun. His instruction also challenges you to reach your true potential. Jason's attention to detail is second to none, and his commitment to training is what truly sets him apart.

10/10 Intimidated at first - now a strong advocate

By Jane L. / Derwood, MD, USA

My husband attended Jason's kettlebells class before me and I was intimated to startseeing 60. Jason really makes the class be about the individual. He's patient and helps you work on proper technique so you can progress and feel the benefits of kettlebells. Another reviewer said it well, Jason really helps you learn how to apply proper body alignment and movement to all physical activity in your life (I.e., gardening) and its made a huge difference for me.

10/10 Highly recommended!

By Adam B / Silver Spring, USA

I feel like I've learned so much from Jason's class. And having taken a variety of exercise classes with a range of instructors, this class is without doubt the best!! Kettlebells are a great way to develop strength, range of motion, endurance, and importantly the right way to move your body for a healthy, and injury-free life! You can apply the techniques you learn in kettlebell training to many other aspects of life. As the headline says: highly recommended!

9/10 Weightloss plateau?

By Miss Giles / Washington DC, USA

I had hit a plateau in my weightloss and was spending a lot of time in the gym without any changes on the scale or my pants size. I found Maryland Kettlebells by googling what was around. Not only were there great reviews, but the price was THE BEST in the DMV area. It's a small, no frills workout space, but I like it that way. It is all about the fitness and form. After just two weeks I lost about 3lbs. If you are into supplements they carry a good brand. I go just for the workout. I think I have learned enough to continue some cores moves on my own at home. It helped me get back on track to accomplishing my goals, and I now have a much leaner, more toned body. I get compliments all the time asking what sport do I play, or if I dance. I love it!

10/10 Learn from the expert!

By Valerie Merriweather / Silver Spring, USA

As a personal trainer I was interested in incorporating kettlebells into my client's programs as my own fitness regimen. Before I just picked up a kettlebell and started swinging, I felt like I needed to learn more about the technique and proper form to get the best results. I found Jason and after one class I was sold! He really knows his stuff and has put in the time to be an excellent instructor! He's extremely knowledgeable and understands how to push someone out of his comfort zone and still train safe. I'm much more confident in my use of kettlebells and I have Jason to thank for it! Don't trust a kettlebell book - go to the expert - Jason Schreiber!

10/10 Best Training, available right here

By Orest Swystun / Silver Spring, USA

It is a great environment with instructors/guides/trainers beyond compare. I have worked with baseball, football and other sport trainers, physical therapists and personal trainers most my life.

I have found that here there is a perfect combination of talent that makes this platinum by comparison.

I find that when I miss my training, I miss my training.

10/10 Great Class

By Douglas F / Takoma Park, USA

My wife introduced me to Kettlebells and I was reluctant to try. At 55 it just seemed like too much. But after my first class with Jason I was hooked. The exercise is great and Jason and his crew are able to give the individual instruction necessary while keeping the class moving at a good pace. The little corrections in form, the help on pointing out the small things that avoid injuries and the freedom to experiment while having fun all make it a class I look forward to every week.

10/10 Precision training at its best!!!

By Sage Ali / Washington, DC, USA

Jason is a truly great instructor. His knowledge of the human body and proper training techniques goes far beyond anyone else I have met, and he has corrected and fine-tuned my form on a number of exercises. He is very patient and laid back in his approach, and at the same time he makes sure to get the best out of everyone he works with.

Even though I owned a set of kettlebells and did a little training before, I have to give Jason 100% credit for properly introducing me to the world of kettlebell training. I had been doing many exercises incorrectly, and having Jason teach me the proper form made ALL the difference in the world! I used to have some shoulder issues, but thanks to Jason's excellent coaching my shoulders and the rest of my body are now stronger and more flexible than ever before. The best thing is that the entire process has been fun!!!

I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from Jason, and I have watched many others benefit from his training as well. Thanks, Jason... you are the best!

10/10 Jason is Top Notch

By T. Brown / Upper Marlboro, USA

I had been reading about kettlebells, ordered a kettlebell, and then sought someone to teach me the basics. My intention was to learn how to perform the basics safely, and then workout at home. Jason gave me so much more! He has a fun class that is always challenging. I do work out at home, but still look forward to joining his class. He knows his stuff, always checks and corrects technique, and always seems to find the right way to get us past our roadblocks and difficulties. He is a great teacher, coach, and a great guy!

I highly recommend Jason.

10/10 A great Instructor

By Lilliana Roman / Silver Spring, USA

My first visit to Jason's class I was invited by a friend. I watched the class and I liked that he gave everyone's attention that needed helped. He kept an eye on the class to make sure that the use of equipment was being used properly...My first class was a first for me when I started and I enjoyed his attention in me helping me succeed my goal. Now that there is more classes offered, its makes it much easier for me to continue to attend. Thank you, Jason see you soon..

10/10 Great instructor!

By David B / Silver Spring, US

Jason's kettlebells class has actually made me look forward to an exercise class. It's a great workout and Jason keeps it interesting week after week. He has a very impressive memory for what exercises he has taught to what people and for what their strengths and weaknesses are.

10/10 Jason's Instruction is Fun, Focused and Fit

By Fritz Meyer / Ashton, Maryland, USA

Kettlebell workouts are now an integral part of my life because of Jason's personalized approach to training his clients. He really knows the human body (and all of the ways we've messed ours up) and helps to correct deficiencies in strength, mobility and balance. I've improved my technique and confidence tremendously in the months I've been trained in proper kettlebell use. His choice of music is pretty good too. I highly recommend signing up for his classes.

10/10 He makes exercise fun!

By Julie B. / Silver Spring, USA

Jason is really friendly, patient, and encouraging. Even if you're totally new to something, he breaks it down in a way you can follow. It's a fun workout!

10/10 Jason Schreiber is a first-rate instructor

By James P / Silver Spring, USA

Jason Schreiber is a first-rate instructor. I was just getting started with kettlebells when I first went to see Jason, and he provided excellent instruction on how to properly execute the various moves with kettlebells. He also does a great job of keeping things exciting, by providing a wide variety of exercises, so we aren't just doing the same old tired exercises week after week. Thanks to Jason, I now feel confident in working with kettlebells. I've lost 20 lbs since January, and I feel great. The only exercising I've done in that time has been kettlebells, so I know that it's due to the kettlebell training. I haven't even been that disciplined in staying on top of it, varying from 0-3 times / week (although usually 2-3/week). I highly recommend kettlebell training, and if you're going to give it a try, go see Jason. He's outstanding.

10/10 Busts my butt every time.

By Larry Hirsch / Silver Spring, USA

Jason is a great instructor. His success can be measured by rivers of sweat, increased stamina and strength. As in instructor he creates a fantastic mix of routines rooted in cardio and weight training. He adds new exercises regularly while emphasizing form and encouraging progress. Somehow he manages to create workouts tailored to the individual in a class environment. Who could ask for more?

10/10 Jason is a fantastic instructor

By Lenny Stamm / Silver Spring, Maryland, USA

Jason is a fantastic instructor. A friend of mine turned me on to kettle bells during a vacation and suggested if I wanted to get into it to find a trainer. I found Jason online and found him perfect for what I needed. The classes are small and affordable and there is plenty of individualized attention. The training is really addictive - a combination of strength training and aerobic training at the same time. I bought some kettle bells and have integrated this training into my weekly routines so I am now working out with them 3x/week. I highly recommend it.

10/10 Awesome!

By Jane / Silver Spring MD

So much fun! Jason is really great - he's really informed and explains the workout to us in detail so that we understand what muscles we are using when - without boring us. He also pays attention to everyone so we are getting it right but does so without embarrassing anyone. Really great instructor!

10/10 Great Workout

By Sherri Washington / N. Bethesda, Maryland

I am in the beginning Kettlebell class at Montgomery East County Recreation Center. Excellent workout, one of the best. Jason is very clear in his instruction and he has tremeendous patience. I am over 50 years ago and I want to strengthen my core. I noticed a difference. I will continue to take additional classes.

10/10 Jason is a great instructor

By Amy Alvord / Silver Spring, MD

I have been taking Kettlebells for more than a year, but only for a month with Jason. He explains the technical aspects of moves very well and gives good correction. His classes are challenging and there is a good camaraderie among class members. I will continue coming -it is nice to have different instructors with different techniques. It keeps the workouts varied which keeps me from getting bored. Kettlebells is an awesome workout everyone should experience.

10/10 Highly Recommended

By Sharon / Washington, DC

I started taking Kettlebell classes with Jason S. after a running injury kept me from running for several months. I needed to strengthen my core to keep from reinjurying myself and I needed to find other forms of exercise. I love the class! Jason is a great instructor. He keeps the class moving so you get a workout while you learn the movements. He explains the movements well and monitors class participants to ensure proper execution. He is very knowledgeable and can advise you on how to use Kettlebell training to best suit your current need.

10/10 Great Stuff!

By Deanna / Silver Spring, MD

I found MKB through a Groupon and wanted to review my form and movement through the exercises. Jason is a great instructor. His breakdown of the exercises is just what I needed. He's professional, meticulous, highly knowledgable, and definitely dedicated to injury prevention. Highly recommend the beginner classes to anyone interested in KBs. He has put the fire back in my belly.

10/10 Excellent Detailed Instructor!!!

By P. Teran / Rockville, MD

Jason is very detailed in his teaching style and makes it easier to understand each movement as he breaks down the complete exercise into drills. These drills are effective when executing the multi-step movements with KBs.

If you are new to KB training, you want Jason on your side.

10/10 Believe these reviews

By Steve Randolph / Bowie, MD

Sometimes you read a series of reviews and, when they're all 10's, you dismiss them as unrealistic. "This guy can't be that good." In this case, believe me he is.

I've been training one-on-one with Jason for seven months and my strength and fitness gains have been life[style]saving. At 47, I was completely sidelined from an active recreational lifestyle. I had a surgical-candidate sports hernia from years of playing Ice Hockey with various strength and flexibility imbalances. I had sudden-onset back pain from a couple of torn disks that decided they'd had enough of skiing, mountain biking, Judo, running who knows? It was time for me to get serious about functional training and conditioning if I wanted to be able to do what I love and keep up with my athletic pre-teens as they grow. Beginning with successful SH rehabilitation and progressing to core-strengthening, mobility, posture, and flexibility, Jason has guided me back to a level where I am playing better than ever and has helped me reduce my back pain to something manageable. He is truly a student of the science of biomechanics and is able to communicate the nuances of optimal movement patterns very effectively. He is open-minded and very adaptive in his approach. He collaborates well with his students as we learn advanced KB techniques. The swings, snatches, get-ups, cleans, presses, squats, etc. that I have learned from Jason are now a core component of my regular workouts. Yet, there is always something new to learn or improve. Trainers who are this good usually move on to bigger and better things. Catch him while you can!

10/10 Just what I needed

By Mark Armstrong / Silver Spring, MD

Occasionally, you get lucky and meet the right person at the right time; that's what was in my mind when I finished my first kettlebell routine with Jason Schreiber back in the summer of 2009. I was frustrated; I was working out regularly, with a boxing workout that I love doing, and some half-hearted exercises on my own at my fitness center, but getting nowhere fast. At 53, I wasn't planning to set any records, but I always seemed to be dealing with minor issues that slowed me down...forearm tendonitis, achy lower back. Working regularly with Jason and his core-focused kettlebell routine seems to keep these minor aches under control, and has become the backbone of my workout routine. I appreciate his skill and patience in demonstrating moves, and providing feedback on my workout. But it's Jason's infectious enthusiasm that really keeps me coming back...with an occasional 1.5 hour commute to get to kettlebell class, I need that!

10/10 Jason's approach to teaching is natural

By Yvette Mullen / Columbia, MD USA

Jason has made weight lifting for me, a female triathlete and marathoner, enjoyable and also less intimidating. As someone who prefers to do most of her training outside and away from the weight room Jason has gotten me to see the importance of incorporating weightlifting (kettle bells) into my weekly routine. It has not only helped me in other disciplines but it has also helped build my confidence as an athlete. Jason has found a way to get me into a room with male athletes and has encouraged me to not be scared of working out with them, but also not to be scared to use the same weights as them if I could. I have never been stronger and I have kettle bells and Jason's instruction and encouragement to thank.

10/10 Fun and Exciting...NEVER a Dull Moment!

By Retired Powerlifter / Baltimore, MD

I have worked with Jason on and off for several years, both in a personal and small group training environment. What fascinates me is his teaching ability. He can take a group of people, and not only find ways to encourage group cohesion despite fitness differences, but he also finds ways to give individuals within the group variations of movements specific to their ability level. In addition to his outstanding personality and teaching skill, his classes are rarely the same. Sometimes he may use high-tension drills, training for absolute strength, while other times he uses timed-intervals for conditioning, or circuits and training ladders for high volume work. He is constantly growing as an instructor, and I believe he will be nationally known within the next several years!

10/10 Professional AND Personal

By MMA/ BJJ Practioner / Maryland

It goes without saying that Jason's 12 years of experience shines through in his kettlebell training. Whether he has 1 client, or a class of 20, he can spot imbalance and weakness almost immediately, offering corrective drills, exercises, and technique as effective treatment. His knowledge, experience, and passion are second to none. But what REALLY stands out is his personality. No other trainer has ever been able to so seamlessly lead, motivate, and instruct people of such diversity, with so much ease and joy, that there is no doubt he has found his life's purpose

10/10 Jason is a very patient instructor.

By Lugene Nigh / Bowie, MD

Jason is very detailed in his instruction and breaks down the complete exercise into drills. I found the drills very helpful and a good approach for a multi-step exercise. When there is a lot to remember in each step, Jason takes the time to reinstruct.

10/10 Very knowledgable, and good instructor.

By Leo Rancier / Maryland, USA

Jason is a model instructor. He has understood the type of training I was looking to do before I could had even figured it out.

He has helped me in the areas I have wanted to improve tremendously. My body has changed, I have become stronger, more flexible and more conditioned for my sport, and life.

In my opinion, Jason is a very knowledgeable and capable young man, who can definitely train any person by finding weakness and improving them.

I definitely categorize him as a great instructor.

Sincerely,
Leo Rancier,
MMA/Jiujitsu Fighter
Black Belt Judo, Taekwondo, Combat Jujutsu
Brown Belt in BJJ.

10/10 An encouraging Instructor

By Orest Swystun / Silver Spring, MD

I have only had Jason for a couple of sessions (though this is not my first kettle bell class). I like the class, and he is an encouraging and well thought out instructor. I will come back and learn more from him and I would encourage others to do the same.

He cares about his students.

10/10 Fitness for the long haul

By Leslie Casey / Rockville, MD USA

As I take Jason's kettlebell class, it is clear that he is always thinking. He takes us through an always varying regimen with lots of energy and focus on form. I came to exercise late in life (age 57); nevertheless he makes me feel welcome. He coaches me on strength training that has clearly increased my flexibility and strength that are so important for ease of everyday living now. I am confident this will have a major positive impact on my quality of life as I continue to age.

10/10 A brilliant instructor!

By Gaurav / Ellicott City, MD

Jason is one of those individuals who is not only very passionate about kettlebells and the strength & conditioning world, but he also has that gifted ability to teach it very well as well.

In addition to being extremely knowledgeable in the Hardstyle method of training, he is also very up to date with his understanding of human physiology. I came to him with poor bio-mechanics, with not being able to perform a proper squat or a proper swing. Through a movement examination/screen, he picked out the problem areas, fixed them immediately, and even taught me assistance exercises I could perform on my own at home.

When I come to think of it, Jason is honestly the best fitness professional I have ever come in contact with. His workouts will kick your butt into shape. Due to his emphasis on executing proper technique for maximum efficiency and safety, you will notice pleasing results literally overnight. I HIGHLY recommend a class with him, with absolutely zero reserves. You will have little to lose, and you will see exactly what I mean.
