I've come to kettlebells with Barbara from a yoga background. I also have some old injuries from playing soccer as a kid. Barb is really good at pushing you the perfect amount. I have surprised myself more than once by what I can do! It's very exciting! But she is also great at making sure you are doing everything safely and taking care of yourself. That is super important to me. I love the non-competitive atmosphere. I'm allowed to just be where I'm at with my fitness level, and always feel encouraged to improve. It's perfect. I recommend Barb's classes for anyone looking to be healthy and happy!

I came to kettlebells with a lot of trepidation. Arthritis in my knees limits my flexibility and I wasn't sure I would be able to "keep up" with the rest of class. Even before arthritis I was the worst one in my childhood gym classes and hid out at the very back hoping to escape the teacher's notice. I never escape Barbie's notice, even in the back of class. She offers precise feedback and adjustments, encouragement and support every time we meet. All the other classmates are equally welcoming and encouraging even though their skills and strength far surpass mine. As my body grew stronger, my knees got surprisingly stronger too. Several miles into a challenging hike this summer I realized my knees didn't hurt! Many teachers can train skilled athletes, but it takes a unique person with patience and creativity to work with those of us with physical challenges. Barbie is a wonderful teacher for us! I especially invite others like me to work with Barbie - come join me in the back of the class.

I was a bit reluctant to start kettlebell training because I haven't been very active in the last 5 years, but I decided to join this past winter with a friend just to see what it was like. In addition to greater core strength, I have defnitely felt more energetic, I have better posture, and I seem to breathe easier. It's a very supportive place to get back in shape or to challenge yourself if you're already fit. Barb makes everyone feel like part of the same team. Instead of finding excuses why I "don't have time to exercise," I actually look forward to going to Barb's class!

My husband has been taking kettlebell classes with Barbie for over a year now and I finally started up a few months ago. I am so pleased that I did. Her classes are well planned and concise; the workouts we get are great. Barbie teaches the moves safely and very clearly -- it's obvious that she cares for the integrity of each class. I would highly recommend anyone who is thinking of trying kettelbells to try it with Barbie.

Barb runs an a great class that focuses on cooperation rather than competition. Part of the reason I hate gym class as a kid was the mentality of the "Coach," and his sports-psychology motivational sayings and tropes. Instead of being inspirational, I found them insufferable. You'll find none of that in Barb's class.

Because of my job, i am prone to back problems, and attending class just once a week has strengthened my core enough that I now longer have a monthly back strains or pulls.

If you're on the fence, or intimidated or nervous about getting started in Kettlebells, Barb is the instructor to start with. Her students and friendly and welcoming to new people.

Highly recommended.

I cannot imagine life without Kettelbell training. I have been training with Barb for almost 6 years. Kettelbell has brought a new level of physical fitness to my life. I am stronger, more coordinated and steadier on my feet than I ever have been (at age 44). In addition to the physical benefits, there is something very emotionally and mentally centering about Kettelbell training. It reduces stress and creates balance beyond the physical. Barb is incredible. She creates a welcoming and safe environment that allows everyone to work and learn at their own pace. Safety and proper technique are her number one priority. She is the best!

Barbie creates a class environment that is safe and encouraging, while structuring a complete and varied workout each session that includes warm-ups, core-strengthening exercises, and cool-downs. I look forward to the workouts for the benefits of increased strength, and self-confidence, as well as for the sense of community. As class participants we work together as a team in an affirming atmosphere that is respectful of our individual needs and abilities. I leave at the end of classes with an attitude of "yes, I can do this," as I face the next part of my day. I also appreciate the benefits of no longer feeling that the grocery bags are heavy, or having nagging back pain after a few hours of gardening. So, thank you, Barbie. Your Kettlebell classes are good medicine in supporting the health of body, mind and spirit!

She keeps the workouts interesting and new, and creates a positive and encouraging atmosphere that the class models on. Do you want - NEED - to work hard but don't know where to begin or how to keep it interesting?
I am a distance runner, cyclist and a fairly fit athlete but as any athlete knows, there is ALWAYS room for improvement. How do you stay strong? How do you stay loose? How do you stay in touch with your body as you grind through repetitive seasonal training?
Kettlebells with Barb at The Center is a fantastic way to keep it interesting! She combines eastern methods, positive reinforcement, hard-core sweat-beading kettlebell moves, and a dash of tough love to make every class a workout for every fitness level in the room. It is a Great Equalizer.
The atmosphere is, from the top down, nothing but encouraging. I love it!

When I started kettlebells four months ago I knew I was out of shape and overweight but I have the great ability to believe it wasn't that bad, that I was still strong. My first classes I could barely lift the light bell or hold a pose longer than 10 seconds. It drove home the truth of needing to change. The encouragement I got from Barb and the rest of class kept me going and to push myself not to quit. I want to be strong like the rest of the class. I still can't do everything but I am making headway and I can hold a plank for over 30 seconds!! I encourage people no matter their size or age to give it a try, it will make a difference.

I've worked with Barbara since I started kettlebell training, and have also worked with other instructors.She is, by far the best!Her workouts are multi-faceted, and incorporate all the exercises designed to increase core strength, while always giving attention to correct form. NO ONE is ever discouraged in Barbies classes, instead we are all taught to support each other and the team she's created has become like family to me. I've become stronger during my 6th decade than I ever thought I'd be. her class has helped me immeasurably in my work as a nurse - protecting my back, while allowing me to lift heavy patients in a way few others can.Injuries? I've injured myself twice in the last 2 years.......never at class tho. I was out biking, or climbing rocks when I broke my arm and sprained my ankle - activities many persons my age never even attempt.My goal was always getting back to Barbie's class..where I knew I would regain my strength. Simply put - she is my hero!

Every morning before heading to class I have a mixed feeling of trepidation and excitement. I am a little nervous wondering about the ways we'll be challenged...I know it will be a tough workout, while at the same time I can't wait to get there and push my limits (mentally and physically). Barbie is a great teacher! Her instructions are clear and precise. She is consistently monitoring for proper form so we get the most out of the exercises. She also provides a gentle yet motivating challenge ("Anne, that bell is too light for you!") My appreciation of Kettlebells as a fitness form has increased hugely under Barbie's guidance. My physical endurance has grown and my confidence continues to grow with her challenges and support. One other aspect of Barbie's classes that I value is the community that grows among the students. We chat a bit, laugh and always support one another where we are. It is a fun place to be while doing important work for our bodies.

Have you heard of kettlebells? I never had until I went at the recommendation of a doctor to strengthen my core and help my back but I tell you, not only is this the most intense workout you'll do but it's also fun! Barbara brings a calm demeanor and a vast amount of knowledge to each class that helps you to concentrate and really get the most out of each workout. Even during a busy class session, she is constantly assessing each person and giving custom pointers appropriate to their skill and fitness level. She always happy to answer questions or to expand on something discussed during class. If you're thinking about kettlebells for a workout, please consider The Center and Barbara Fritz!

I am not someone who enjoys gyms or taking exercise classes, but I know I need to do it.

I work with Barb because she is much better than any other instructor I have ever experienced and the atmosphere she creates is very respectful and positive. She individually tailors the workouts to address your specific areas of concern. She pushes just the right amount and knows when to be encouraging.

I really appreciate the opportunity to train with Barb.

Barb will most definitely challenge you, but in a way that is encouraging and supportive. She is able to adapt how she speaks about technique to ensure the person she's talking to understands, and she's more than willing to take extra time before or after class to field questions or give extra tips. Barb is absolutely fantastic. Oh, and there is a lot of laughing in between all the sweating. The environment Barb cultivates is very welcoming and eases any uneasiness that somebody may have about being in this environment. I've told people about the class and had to explain that this was not your normal class--you don't have to a Navy Seal or star athlete to jump right in and feel comfortable with Barbara and the way she teaches.

Since Kettlebells came into my life, I tackle more difficult chores. Bring the window air conditioner down from the attic? Scramble over that fence? No problem! Kettlebells have increased my physical confidence, and I am stronger than I have ever been. And hey! My bone density has gotten better, and my emotional core more powerful and resilient.

Barb's teaching is fantastic (and I should know: I have taken classes with at least 12 other teachers)! Her classes are intelligently structured, thoughtful, and challenging. Her teaching is fun, and the camaraderie is contagious.

I never realized how important it is to strengthen your center until I started attending Barbara's classes. Most of the exercises we do are meant to strengthen your core along with all of the other muscle groups. I love the variety of exercises that we do ... every class has something fun and different. I appreciate Barbara's attention to form and her ability to explain how to correct it. She is a very talented instructor and puts a lot of effort into each and every class.

I was fortunate enough to work with Barb this past weekend at an RKC certification as a fellow assistant instructor. She worked so well with the attendees in that she gently coached while giving expert instruction. Her easy manner makes her so approachable, but her depth and breadth of knowledge was inspiring. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking an experienced kettlebell coach, mentor, and instructor.

Her support and concern for the students was acknowledged and appreciated by every one of them, and her corrections were invaluable. I know it was a better weekend for the students, and for me, just by her being there. We lossed one of our group early on and I was very impressed with Barbara's concern as to what we could have done better to have that not happen. The kettlebell and Strength for Living was a new experience for me. Barb was great at providing instruction for new comers, while continuing the extra push for the other experienced people in the class. I soon realized that every class is a new adventure with new exercises, but you also build on the basic skills and techniques taught in every class. Barb knows the limits of everyone in the class and emphasizes the form and the effort -- not just "doing" the task. She gives the extra push and support when you are thinking you are doing the impossible! ... and then you actually do it.

I've worked with a personal trainer and a nutritionist in the past, and I find Barbara's energy suits me well. She is clear and directive while at the same time compassionate and supportive. The combination is motivating without being overly cheerleading and intense without being extremist. Her authentic self comes through loud and clear in her training, and that encourages her students to bring their authentic selves to class, too.

I think Barbie is a wonderful instructor. She is fun to be around and has a good sense of humor. Her manner is gentle and kind. She is an example; she knows what it takes to work hard. I've been looking for a sustainable exercise program that is good for people with cronic medical conditions! I don't have hours to spend in gyms and even less time running( So boring and really bad on joints) I've finally found it with kettlebells, with Barb as the instructor. She delivers clear instruction and a great workout. The variety of exercises is excellent. Clearly a total body workout.



Just as important to me, being an older, out-of-shape guy, is that she's patient and easy going. There's no shaming or belittling if you can't keep up with the younger, more fit class mates. As she say "EGOS must be checked at the door"!!! Yet the workouts will challenge anybody. I'd recommend Barb's classes to anyone.

Barb sets an example for all of her students. She listens to you, offers constructive advice, and motivates you all at the same time. She has you push your comfort zone and encourages you to do your best. She is very careful that you are using the correct form so you don't injure yourself. She doesn't preach, she leads by example.

She brings to class a great variety of exercises challenging her students to always improve. Barb provided the perfect combination of pushing me out of my comfort zone and reminding me to listen to my body when pushing beyond comfort. Just because I was older (59) she didn't "baby" me like other trainers had in the past. As a result, I finally got results from an exercise routine. I enjoy kettlebell exercise and am continuing to practice. Even when I struggle, Barb taught me to be confident that I will get better - and I always do. Because of the confidence in myself I have now, I did my first 5K walk - in a little less than an hour (55 minutes). I would have never even considered doing that before taking Barb's class. This small victory has got me thinking of doing a half marathon next fall. I know I can do it! Barb's kettlebell class has given me the strength and confidence to take it on!
