10/10 Amber is awesome!

By Sarah S / Somerville, MA, USA

I've been attending Amber's kettle bell classes twice a week for about ten months, and I am incredibly pleased with the progress I'm making. I am much stronger than I have ever been, and feel steadier and more balanced. I've also learned a lot about fitness and how the body works.

Amber is a fantastic instructor: she is friendly and warm, communicates clearly, gets to know her students, motivates and encourages her students to (safely) push themselves, and always makes class interesting. She's also very smart and a fun person to be around. I'm continually impressed by her.

Amber also creates a fun and welcoming atmosphere in her classes. She keeps classes small, and sets a positive, supportive tone among her students. She has a fairly diverse mix of students in terms of age, fitness background, and current skill level, and manages to keep classes challenging and rewarding for more experienced students and beginners alike. Several people can come to the same class with different goals, and each leave feeling that they've made progress.

10/10 Excellent for Beginners

By Todd P / Laurel, USA

Amber did an in-home training session for my wife and me. She listened to each of our goals and tailored her exercises to both those goals and our beginning experience level with kettle bells. As we learned each technique Amber encouraged and corrected us. Bonus: She kept it fun. We came away with lovely soreness and new exercises to help us achieve our fitness goals. We've repeated the exercises a couple times a week and look forward to our next session!

10/10 A teacher's review of a fellow teacher

By Henry Lee / Boston, USA

As a Taiji/Tai Chi and kickboxing instructor who has had the pleasure of both receiving instruction from Amber and observing how she interacts with her clients/students I can say without a doubt in my mind that Amber has the"it," that X-Factor that only the truly dedicated instructor has.

In my 13 years of teaching I have seen countless "instructors" who are clearly unqualified and ultimately either cause harm to their clients or ultimately give them only the most superficial of benefit.

Amber's attention to the fundamentals and keen attention to detail that give her clients that cutting edge over your average gym goer or fitness seeker. Rather than the superficial fitness your average "weekend warrior" has, Amber's clients achieve fitness that has both substance and longevity.

As a fellow teacher I am pleased to see another who shows such a deep level of dedication to her clients and passion in her work.

10/10 BEST TRAINER, EVER!

By Alexandra Livingstone / Cambridge, USA

I started working with Amber in April of 2012, meeting about 3 times a week for 6 months. The experience has been nothing short of wonderful, as Amber is a patient, thoughtful, and fun trainer to work with. She strikes a nice balance of letting you work within your own comfort level, but also pushing you to perform. Another thing I find very valuable to Amber's teaching style is her unwavering dedication to proper form. Our training exercises have remained pretty simple, including dead lifts, goblet squats, 2 handed & 1 handed swings, cleans & presses, snatches, and Turkish getups.

Through Amber's insistence on proper, basic form and posture, I've steadily been working on my training goal of aligning my shoulders and improving my posture. (I have scoliosis, and something like a 4 in. curvature in my back lower back, and my shoulders are uneven by about an inch.)

I have seen vast improvements in pain related to posture problems. (I only see a massage therapist about once a month instead of once a week!) My shoulder mobility is greatly improved, and I can run longer distances (10 miles) without significant pain. I was able to do Tough Mudder New England this summer, and my whole team finished the course with about a 3 hour time! I haven't measured myself in awhile, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I've also "grown" since I first started working with Amber. (As in, recovered some of that 4 in spinal curvature.)

Working with Amber has been an amazing experience, and I am now totally sold on kettlebell workouts!

10/10 Amber's Kettle Bell Intro Course

By Christopher Currie / Pascoag, USA

After watching a late-night program about kettle bell exercising, I purchased three (discounted) kettle bells from an Ocean State Job Lot store in Rhode Island. But even after viewing some kettle bell videos on youtube, I still didn't feel like I knew how to use them properly. So when I met Amber Lee and learned that she was a certified kettle bell personal trainer, I gladly accepted her offer to provide me with a 90 minute kettle bell intro course. Her intro course was inspiring as well as educational. In additon to specific kettle bell exercises, she taught me warm up and stretching exercises that are specifically designed to correct my posture problems (exercises which would never have occurred to me otherwise), and she made sure that I thoroughtly understood the safetey procedures that must also be practiced in order to avoid injuries. She also explained which muscles were being stretched or strengthened by each exercise and how those changes would improve my posture, strength, endurance, balancing abilities, and general well being. Much of what I learned will be helpful for improving the effectiveness of my other exercise routines as well.

Amber's kettle bell intro course will be a life-changing milestone for anyone who seriously wishes to improve their posture and balancing abilities while making themselves physically fit.

10/10 Asskicking training Exceptional Support

By Meg G / Somerville, MA, USA

Amber is a phenomenal trainer, and unlike any trainer I'd ever worked with before. I'm spoiled now, and hate to train with anyone else; working with her is an absolute joy.
She cares deeply about you, and learns not only what motivates you, but what scares you and what you want to achieve. Once she's learned those things, she is relentless in pushing you toward your full potential, and encourages you to revel in doing so. She helps you track your development with excellent metrics and corrections to your form, and celebrates every achievement with you. It is hard not to be proud of yourself and your accomplishments with her around.
She loves the human body and what it can do, and she understands the mechanics of movement incredibly well; this means that not only can she explain and demonstrate complex or difficult movements well, she can often discern injuries and dangers well before you. Her deep knowledge of styles of movement help her in modifying exercises to suit every body type and health condition, and in finding just the right warm-ups and adjustments to suit each workout. Her programming is creative and challenging, so every session is new and exciting.
Even off the gym floor, Amber provides links to workout videos, training articles, and guidance on equipment purchases; it is absolutely clear that she adores training and lives and breathes fitness.
I've trained with Amber for belly dance, CrossFit, and kettlebells; Amber's helped me master the Turkish getup, run a mile in under 7 minutes for the first time ever (despite years of trying), and develop my grip strength so that I can swing heavier kbs and do pull-ups. She's helped program kb workouts to do at home, and even strength routines to do in hotel rooms when I travel so that I won't lose ground when I get back to my gym. I cannot say enough good things about her training, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.
