Val Hedlund (formerly Waldron) owned and operated Pacific Strength, a Kettlebell & Personal Training Studio in San Clemente, California before getting married and moving to Colorado and opening Simple Strength.
 
Simple Strength is a continuation of Pacific Strength. We don't use big machines or "fancy equipment", we go back to the basics with kettlebells and bodyweight and open space.  We do have big tires, sledgehammers, exercise bands, and boxes for extra ways to torture our loyal followers, but our focus has and always will be on MOVEMENT!
 
It's definitely not easy, it's Simple! We don't make you do complicated moves just to say we did something different. It needs to make sense to YOU and YOUR GOALS!  Our focus is on basic movements and we want to make your movement better. Period. When you move better, you feel better and you move more. When you move more efficiently, you get stronger. When all of those things come together, it's easier to fit exercise into your day.

10/10 Great Trainer, great workouts!

I've worked out (off and on) my entire life, using the traditional weights. I had heard of kettlebells, but I had no idea how effective they could be. Since working with Val I've seen more changes in my body, both in my physique and in my stamina/endurance, faster than with any other method I've ever experienced. For me, it was easy to neglect much of my body when working with traditional weights, but that doesn't happen with Kettlebells. Just about every movement is working the whole body! When I started training with Val, she was very patient with me, yet very adamant that I use proper form with each movement, giving me the strong foundation to advance as quickly as I have. Val is always very creative with the workouts, so they are never boring or predictable, which, for me, makes it fun. Her knowledge of the working the body with Kettlebells is evident and her passion to help individuals reach their personal goals is a winning combination. I am so very grateful for Val and all that she has helped me to accomplish, so far... Thank you, Val!

I met Val a little over a year ago at an HKC certification I attended. She helped to steer and train me throughout the day. I had a great day learning from her, getting tips and tricks to help grow me as an HKC instructor and as a stronger individual. Just this week I had the privilege of getting to train with her and go over new skills and set new goals. Val looks at the whole person and helps design a plan of attack according to your goals and the life you lead. She is the real deal or as a friend of my would say "She is legit" I love that Val is never more that an email away and that I have the option of online training and even Skype. I live about 70 north of her and while she is worth the drive I like knowing I have other choices.

I was very fortunate to have Val as an Assistant Instructor at the April'11 RKC.
She handily demonstrated her knowledge about all things kettlebells, providing tweaks and tidbits as needed, all weekend long. I was especially grateful for her wisdom about 'thinking of externally rotating my femur' so that my knee, which was still tweaky from a sparring injury (against 2 black belts), would not hurt on squats and heavy swings.

I would be remiss if I did not mention that she seemed to take special delight in making sure our team was bracing our abs properly by hitting us in the gut during the hardstyle lock. Needless to say, I stayed tight all weekend long!

If you are in her neck of the woods, I HIGHLY recommend you drop what you're doing (unless it’s a small child or an incendiary device) and go get some great kettlebell training from her!

I was recently in Minnesota for my RKC. I was fortunate enough to have Val as one of my teams assistants. Val is an effective trainer who definitely made a difference to my capabilities over the weekend. Her attention to detail and her depth of knowledge meant that i learned much more over the weekend than i might have learned otherwise.
If you get the chance to train under Val then you have an outstanding opportunity. If you experience with Val is anything at all like i was fortunate enough to have, then you will come away not only as a better athlete, but as someone who is more aware of the benefits of the things that they have been taught to do. Give her a visit, you'll be glad you did.

I met Val this last weekend when we both assisted on Team Engum at the largest ever RKC in St. Paul. It takes a lot to stand out in a roomful of RKC instructors but Val did exactly that.

She is a gifted trainer with good communication skills and can back up what she says with her own performance. She clearly practices what she preaches and it shows in her physical abilities.

Watching Val train trainers you quickly realise why she is so prized as a PT. Great eye for detail, compassion, good communication skills, great sense of humour and physically able. If you're in Denver Val Hedlund should be your first stop for training.

I have always been a large group class type of person, so I could hide in the back. I must say that I was very nervous to begin the process of learning Kettlebells. Val has really taken the time to focus on teaching me the correct technique. The results have now begun to show in increased muscle tone and definition, along with an increase in my overall strength. The best part is now with results showing my commitment is growing stronger each day. I would recommend Val and Kettlebells, Thanks Val for putting me on a new path!

I am older than most students, Kettlebells and Val have brought a new dimension to my workouts. I pretty much always did my own thing until I discovered Val and kettlebells, this is my first experience with a personal trainer and with a kettlebell class . . . I love it, I love Val and Kettlebells, can't wait to learn more and become stronger and fitter . . . Val brings the workout to you and her patience and ability make it work for each individual . . .
