I have only been using my kettlebell for a little more than a week now but I find it to be both fun and very challenging to use. Incrdeible as it may seem, I have already been noticing results from using it. At the present time I am putting more emphasis on the explosive movements than the grind movements, but expect to add more grind movements over the next several weeks.

So far the kettlebell has lived up to the hype. I purchased the 35lb size, I am going to be 60 years old in less than a week and although I have worked out quite a bit in my life I thought I would not try to be too full of myself to try to recommended bell for the average guy.

Red kettlebells are great products. Exactly as described, and arrive on faster than promised schedule. Be sure and get the DVD, if you don't have a qualified instructor. Start lighter than you think you need to, and just do more reps till you feel confident, then buy up. Good to use in any fitness class as a variation or to recruit different muscle coordination. I like to use it in an interval session.

Easiar to use for snatches controlling flipping @ top. Larger footprint on bottom makes doing bearcrawls doable. Other brands make it impossible to do with small bottom.

Wish dragon door would give a break on shipping 2nd kettle bell like other companies do. I would have bought 2 instead of one but no incentive for 2nd.

I received my RRKB about three weeks ago and really like it quite well. I bought it so that I could have a pair of 16's and I couldn't be happier with it. The finish does chip a bit, I found this when driving it to work with me and it rolled around the floor of my car and bumped into the chair rail. No biggie though since I'm one to paint little faces and things on my KB's anyway!

Another thing about the finish. It's slicker than the regular KB's which I actually really like. It does present a certain grip challenge when really busting out snatch's and stuff, but i still find that the 'feel' appeals to me more so than the 'regular' finish.

I really wish they would make the Russsian Red in the 12 size too. I'd like another 12 to pair up with my current one.

One last thing, and I suppose that maybe it's a 'girl thing' but the color is rather nice. Color is a good thing!

I recently purchased two Russian Red kettlebells for use in my home gym. They look great. Feel different than the typical black painted kettlebells. And, the red paint seems to attract people's attention. So much so, that I find everyone who enters my gym needs to lift them.



My training partners are now adding kettlebell training to their routines. We have all sat and looked at Pavel's DVD training program several times. I do not know much about the psychology of "color", but red seems to get the blood moving in most people. Since I also have four kettlebells that are painted black, I often wonder why no one was interested in actually training with them until they saw the red ones. Seems like the red paint does the trick.



The Russian Reds are a great value. The finish is a bit smoother than the black kettlebells, and the red paint is not only

colorful but of very good quality.



Training with kettlebells provides the strength athlete and the bodybuilder with a new workout experience. Kettlbells seem to build strength faster than dumbells, and your muscles get a serious "pump" from the different angles that kettlebell training forces you to observe. My training buddies and I love 'em. I think we will make a trip to the local Home Depot and buy a few cans of "red' rustoleum paint to convert the old black kettlebells.

I purchased both a 16 and a 24 from a recomendation of a good friend of mine. We work together and we were discussing my need to purchase some fitness equipment due to the fact I absolutely hated going to the gym. As a graduate student, it's tough to muster the energy for regular workouts when my brain is kicking out so much juice. The Russian Red screams at me in my study hole not to give up -even on the rough days- inspiring me to keep training. The 35 lb Russian Red arrived this past week. It is a perfect casting and well finished. It will join the classics I have in black, a pair of 26's, singles of 35, 44, 53 and 71. I've used kbells for years, still have my old shot loading ones. I do the same exercises I always did and still use my old dumbbells and barbells. As I approach 40, I'm working on taking better care of myself. Over the last year or so I have been slowly purchasing some of Pavel's books (and enjoying them)and decided to give the kettlebell a try since it looked like it would allow me to improve my strength without the boredom of a static weight bench type environment. I purchased a pair of the 16 kg bells. This was my first KB purchase and my first experience with KB's. I have been reading and studying about KB training for about a year. I am a professional coach and trainer and have adapted many of the KB exercises for use with dumbbells. I thought this was comparable to KB training and would provide the same benefit. I was wrong. Until you use a KB you cannot truly appreciate the difference. Dumbbell training has its place, but so does KB training. The key differences are alignment and technique.

I purchased the 16 kg pair so that I could do exercises that require 2 bells but have spent most of my training time using just one bell. Take the time to learn proper technique. I highly recommend the “enter the Kettlebell” dvd. Pavel is hard core, but there is much wisdom in his teaching. His techniques are based on sound training principals that build a strong core and teach proper technique. Learn the difference between a straight back and upright for the squat and swing. Practice bench squats and wall squats to learn proper form and prevent injury to the lower back. (I currently do about 100 bench and wall squats before each training session instead of a cardio warm up) Use the towel to learn the swing. Do the recommended stretches, learn how to breathe properly (behind the shield). A loose core will result in a back injury – not might, but WILL! I had to learn this the hard way.

I plan on purchasing a lighter and a heavier KB, the 12 kg and the 24 kg. The 12 kg to rehab a bad shoulder and the 24 kg to prepare me for the RKC training session in February. The shipping charge sucks, but the product is great. Good luck, stay safe.

I am new to kettlebells, but I have tried a few types. I would rather have gone for the rougher surfaced ketttlebells on the market. When I get about 10 min. into my workout, the russian reds start to slip around. I suppose I could use chalk but I'm just giving my early impression. Besides that they are rad. I don't really care if they are pretty or not,they work well and the handles are a good thickness.

The smoothness of the Russian Red's finish makes it a pleasure to workout with. It's a lot nicer on your hands during exercises where you're hooking the grip instead of crushing it. I loved my first 16kg KB, which was the standard black, but when I'm ready for the 32kg it's gonna be Red. With the gains I'm seeing that's not gonna take long.

I was an Infantry Officer in the Marine Corps for the last four years, with two combat tours in Iraq. I thought I was in pretty spectacular shape. I left the Marines in June with a couple of nagging injuries from all the running and humps with packs where I rolled my ankle. After being out for 4 months, I'd let myself go a bit and was looking for a way to get back to where I was.

A former SeAL at work was looking at KBs. I'd seen them being used at the gym in Iraq, but didn't really know what they were. Me & a another guy who'd just left the Army Strykers bought Enter The Kettlebell starter kits in the beginning of August. Ask us about it today and you won't get either of us to shutup about them.

I thought I was in good shape before. My thighs, glutes, back, & shoulders have never looked like this. My core is a rock and I have almost no fear of shoulder injury at this point thanks to the get-ups. My back was really tight at first, but now I move with more ease than when I was at TBS. I'm strong through my full range of motion. Why these aren't in greater circulation in the American military I don't know, but I wish I'd had them earlier.

I highly recommend KBs to anyone in the military or who is considering joining. They strngthen all the muscles that you use in training and combat that never get worked enough in the gym and lead to injury. I am very satisfied with the two 24kg (53 lb.) Russian Red Kettlebells I bought recently. I had started out the 12kg (26 lb.) kettlebell then progessed to the 16kg (35 lb.) kettlebell. Due to the cost of buying the next kettlebells, I purchased an adjustable (35 to 70 lb.) kettlebell from US Kettlebells and I have been satisfied with that one also. So when I saw the Russian Red Kettlebells offered by DragonDoor.com, I decided to buy the 53 pound kettlebells. I have not found any difference in performance with these lower cost RKC kettlebells offered by DragonDoor.com from the original RKC design that I bought previously from the same company. The 53 pound kettlebells are 53 pounds of cast iron whether they are powdercoated black or have a red epoxy coat. I highly recommend that DragonDoor.com continue to offer these lower cost kettlebells. As for me if the finish starts to come off, I'll just repaint them and continue to use them. The finish on all weight equipment gets worn from lots of use anyway, so that will never stop me from using them. Besides what good is any weight equipment if it is left sitting on the floor or put into storage to protect the finish from harm through use? I buy them to strengthen my body so that when life's hard knocks try to breakdown my body, it might take the punishment and survive intact enough that I may still walk upright (and not slumped over) hopefully even well into old age if I am blessed to live a long life. If you've considered buying the competition you should definately reconsider and here's why...you simply cannot beat the quality of these kettlebells for uniformity and finish. The red epoxy finish not only looks awesome but it also smoothes out any imperfections in the handle and reduces the wear and tear on your palms...and that's something any seasoned Girevik can appreciate! I used them all through RKC this past June and for the past month and I have yet to find a flaw in the "Russian Reds". I've dropped it concrete, let it roll around in the back of my car, and I abuse it on a daily basis...there's not one scratch on it and it still looks as good as the day I pulled it out of the box! I received my 1.5 pood Russian Red 2 weeks ago, and I give them the HIGHEST recommendation! Not only are they more affordable, they are also more challenging because of the slightly THICKER handle (extra half inch in circumference). This extra thickness, I've found, has helped my KB grip strength cross-over more into my no-gi grappling.

HAVING BEEN AN EARLY K-BELL ADOPTER, I ORDERED THE RR THINKING I'D AT LEAST HAVE A PIECE OF PAVEL HISTORY IF THEY CAME AND WENT. BUT TO MY SURPRISE, THESE BELLS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS. THEY ARE OF AMAZING QUALITY WITH A BEAUTIFUL FINISH. I'VE TRIED OTHER BRANDS (FROM CHINA) AND THEY OUTGASSED FOR WEEKS ON END (FINISH), HAD WORKMANSHIP ISSUES, GRIP A LITTLE DIFFERENT, ETC. THESE BELLS DID NOT OUTGAS (NO ODOR). I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE GRIP WHEN LATHERED UP, BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE A NON-ISSUE.

The Russian Red has been beneficial for all the workouts I have preformed with it,however, compared to the other kettlebells I have purchased and have been trainging with, I have found that the russian red's handle is a differnt shape than the others. It makes the grip more challenging, I don't know if it was made that way on purpose or that it is a mishap.

Just received my 24 kg red and like it extremely well. I like the smoother finish and the handle seems to be somewhat bigger than the other kettlebells. A good grip challenge. The color is a good change. Hopefully we will see some 32 kg's soon.

My first kettlebell was a black 16kg from DD. I actually prefer my new 24kg Russian red, because of its heft and the smoothness of its handle. I do not think there is any escaping developing calluses on the palms when one exercises regularly with kettlebells. This just makes it easier. It is a quality product, and I shall surely purchase another 24kg once my strength builds up. I find that the most important requirement for doing these is paying attention. Once cannot be listening to music or watching TV while swinging these. You would otherwise hurt yourself, someone or something! Effective and brutal!

Excellent product. I've been doing kettlebells for about 3 months now and have been using the 53lb kb's for about 1 month. For 2weeks I used the original kbs and found the Russian Red's to have a slightly thicker handle. The thicker handle to actually helped strengthen and increase the stamina of my grips that I use my martial arts training. I can see how some people may not want like it though. The only downside I've encountered is when I'm driving sometimes it will roll, hit the chair rail and chip off some paint. Other then that, it's a great product and well worth the $15 savings. I couldn't be happier with it.

I already owned a black 1.5 pood kettlebell. I was so pleased with it that I decided to buy another K-bell of equal weight.

On a whim, I chose the Russian Red over the blacks. There was no particular reason for my choice.

When I recieved it about seven days later, I took it out of the boxes--it was in two of them, both sealed--and I was surprised by it smooth handle.

I swung it, cleaned and pressed it, and snatched it. It's biggest difference was the handle. I had to squeeze it, moreso than the black, because it was smooth. I look forward to the extra grip benenfits.

Now that I owned two K-bells, and since I found swings with one K-bell to be too easy, I attempted to swing them both, one in each hand. I say "attempted" even though I did swing them, because using two K-bells made it entirely different exercise. One K-bell swings, one arm and two arm, are good for grip and conditioning but the strengthening effect was diminished once I could easily swing it with one arm straight over my head. Using two, however, more than doubled the difficulty. My back should be swelling with extra muscle and strength once I master two arm swings.

I strongly urge you to get K-bells, reds, if you can. If you want to be superman, get two.

After about a month following the RKC program with my 35 pounder, I knew I was ready to move up. I could do about 20 straight presses with the 35, so I figured I would be ok skipping the 44. My judgement turned out to be correct, and I found that I was starting at about the same point with the 53 that I was with the 35 when I first began kettlebell training. The Red has a very high quality, smooth finish. It looks great, but I like gripping the rougher finish of the black models. I lightly sanded the handle to roughen it up a bit, and it is perfect for me now. By sticking to the program, my strength increases with th 53 have been dramatic. If your 35 is getting too light for presses, definitely consider this Red as the next step.

I met Pavel in 2001 at Quantico Va. he was invited to show us some training stuff and we got a lot more than that. So for the past few years I've been trying to get to the point where I could afford the stuff I wanted. I started off with the RKC starter kit (35lbs) and was extremly happy so I ordered (2)24kg RR's and a 32kg. (Re-enlistment Bonus) When the Russian Reds arrived I was impressed by the feel of the handle and after a few swings I liked how it felt. I noticed rust on the bottom of both the RR so I got out the dremel and cleaned them up and covered it with spray paint, good as new. the color is a nice contrast to the rest of my good old black faded kettlebells. but the grip is lacking especially once you get going into your swings or snaches when your hands start getting sweaty. my reccomendation hold on tight and you will have forearms of steel.

Although the Russain Red is advertised as a budget alternative to the original DD kettlebell, I actually prefer it. This is from someone who's done tens of thousands of reps with the originals over the last 5 years. The finish is perfect for me. The grip is slightly bigger, which I also like. My advice would be to get to an RKC, or the certification, try both, decide which ones you like better, and buy those. Both are super high quality, and for the price of year at a gym you can buy a set that will basically last forever.

I was very happy to receive my second Russian Red.

As indicated, it's red. I don't think it's actually from Russia, I think it's from Roseville here in Minnesota, but who cares where it's from. It's also large. As most kettlebells are, it's heavy. It has a handle on it and is vaguely bell-shaped, thus the name. It has an enamel finish which appears to be very tough.

Oh, and because it's a kettlebell, it kicks ass. I had truly outlandish, crazy gains from my first 36pounder and only a month later I ordered this one. What I do with the first is I lift it multiple times all day, two sets of five swings each, and I do this most every day for up to 20 sets total. Believe me when I tell you this: I am not an exercise industry stoolie. I am not an employee or associate of DD nor am I a kettlebell coach.

I believe that kettlebells are hands down the best exercise method in the world. I can only do some of the exercises due to a bad back, and I still experienced gains I'd never seen before even though I've been lifting on and off for 17 years. Truly outrageous.

I will put it this way. Get one, work with it hard for a month, and I think you will be very pleased and surprised. If not, they retain almost all their value, so you could sell it on Ebay.

At first I didn't know what to expect from this kettlebell. I have used other dragondoor kettlebells and must say this one is my favorite by far!! The smoother handle has made my swing and snatch numbers go up. My hands take alot of abuse working and can't afford to get put out of commission from beat up hands so this helps alot. Plus the painted handle works the grip more on grind lifts which I like alot. Worth every penny and best of all it's red!! Another good job by Pavel and the Dragondoor team!!

Got my 24kg Russian Red the other day. Just finished putting it through its paces. Aside from its red coating, slicker and slightly thicker handle, there's really little difference between it and the black RKCs. I needed to use a little chalk when doing snatches and swings. I don't think I'll use it for high-volume ballistic work during the hot, humid months of summer. Aesthetically, it's very pleasing to the eye--perhaps too much so! Whilst carrying up the stairs to my apt. the other night, I bumped it against the iron railing on the stairs and thought I'd scratched the red, smooth finish. Luckily it was only a cosmetic ding, and I remove it with a wet sponge. I would have never worried about that with my black kbs, which have seen a lot of outdoor work (my 20kg got rusty at the beach last summer). When I put Red in the midst of my other kbs, he really stood out as the pretty boy of the bunch. I don't think he'll ever see outdoor workouts. Luckily I have a black RKC 24kg for that.

First, I have 23 years experience in Weight Lifting (olympic style)and Powerlifting. And 25 years experience as a pesonal trainer. I am 45 years old this month and have been studying and coaching Judo and Goshinjitsu for the last nine years.My Russian Red arrived one month ago and imagine my surprise when I read the tag that said, "Made in India".Well, make no mistake,this Russian Red IS a top quality product! The only gripe I have, and it is a small one, is the coating is a little thin on the bottom edge of the Kettlebell. I know, I am being too picky.But I am a perfectionist, and I expect the same from DragoonDoor.That being said, I LOVE this thing! It is just slick enough to really challenge your grip constantly, no matter what the exercise! And the shear number of exercises is mind boggling. Design is perfect and so is the finish! I take my black 44# and my Red 53# with me on business trips, no way will I miss a workout! I can honestly say that my previous 23 years in weghtlifting were wasted when compaired to the results obtained with the Kettlebells. I have already "converted" four other Judoka in my Dojo to the "Dark Side" of the Russian Kettlebells! I wish I had had Pavel's instruction and Russian Ketlebells 23 years ago! Only smaller! This baby is a great buy if the other Russian Reds are too heavy for you. If you're already using the larger Russian Reds, why not buy a 26lb Kettlebell and try some serious extreme high rep sets as a training load variation. Finally, it is easier to perform "stunt" moves with this Kettlebell. I have recently replaced my hand to hand C&P with a hand to hand snatch! (I hope I don't drop it!)

Oh and it's good for medium sized kids too for some lifts.

I've worked with 16kg and 24kg kettlebells in the past, but was injured in a auto accident, resulting in a herniated disc in my neck. This weight has been perfect for my rehab. The smooth red finish has a great feel, although I think I prefer the black version for heavier weights since that finish is more grippy.
