June 2007 Russian Kettlebell Challenge Instructor Certification Workshop — Participant Praise

Patrick Murphy, Federal Judge, E St Louis, IL

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

USMC 66-69, V-Nam, boxing, biking and rollerblading

Very difficult in terms of physical demands. The most information packed program I've attended. The most valuable 3 days anyone interested in physical training could spend.

Pavel is a born teacher. He has the touch for simplicity and is a first rate communicator. A rare mixture of genius and humor. The team leaders were all first rate as were the Sr. instructors.

This program is better organized and presented than what is provided for the Federal Judiciary. The only thing I can compare it to is Marine Corp marksmanship training.

Chad Keilen, Unemployed, just separated from the Navy, Keflavik, Iceland

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

High School basketball, football, track. I years military police, ran 4 marathons, ran 2 55k marathons

From start (sign up) to finish, this is the most organized and educational training I have ever received. Having a military background and having everything structured it was so refreshing to have this same type, if not better training environment..

Top quality. At points I would think to myself, we are getting the very best strength education in the world at this very moment. My team leaders were so good especially Franz, I think the potential of Franz is limitless, so very pleased with him.

Not to bash the basic military but they have nothing on this quality of training. I was in BVDIS (seal training) but dropped out in hell week. Kettlebells should be taught at BVDIS. This is so very top level but so simple anyone could do it.

Mike Provost, Computer Tech/Kettlebell Coach, Reno, NV

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Seven years of Tae Kwon Do, attained the rank of black belt, was instructing since I was a brown belt (5 ranks below black); -3 years of Linxx, which is a combination of Muay Thai Kickboxing, Kali, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu; -1 year of MMA; -3 years High school football; -10 years of traditional weightlifting

Fun, a lot of fun. I especially liked how all of the instructors were very approachable and friendly, humble. These are some legitimately strong, skilled people and they never, ever, got arrogant about it. Everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable, and willing to share that knowledge freely, not heard of. Awesome from beginning to end.

Top notch. Every question was answered fully, no matter how out of left field they were.

This cert was much more in depth than any other form of physical training I've ever been involved in. The fact that so much info can be crammed into three days amazes me. It was very organized from beginning to end with no time wasted.

Jenny Rossilli, Speech Therapist/Stay at home mom, Nashville, IL

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Masters of Science degree in Speech Pathology

The RKC Certification training was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences for me. I never knew just how hard I could push myself, and the strength that I could pull from within.

I can't even begin to express how amazing Pavel, the instructors and team leaders were. They were all so knowledgeable and broke it down on all different levels they always made you feel comfortable, never hesitant to ask questions. They were all so approachable.

There is no comparison. The quality, material, and use is beyond anything I have done.

Jodi Renee Sprehe, Sexual Assault Counselor/Group Fitness Instructor, Energy, IL

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

4+ yrs. USMC, 2+ yrs. experience Personal Training/Group Fitness Instruction. 6 mos . experience training at Luis Phalares (6th Degree Rickson Gracie Black Belt) Affiliate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu School. 6 mos. training with Professional Muay Thai Kickboxer (Trained under Champion of Lumpinee Stadium, Thailand) 9+ years experience in Thai Boxing.

I was extremely impressed with the diversity of the training and all of the areas that were covered. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Pavel was phenomenal. I didn't expect to get so much individual attention which provided a great atmosphere for learning. The sr. instructors were spectacular from the field to their individual perspectives. All around an excellent group of people. I was very happy to have a female instructor but all the instructors were outstanding. Their areas of specialty as they addressed in their lectures and Pavel's wonderful techniques made for such a great environment for learning.

By far the most comprehensive workshop/certification that I have ever attended. I can't say enough how wonderful the instructors were and how valuable their knowledge was. In all of the afore mentioned areas, I found the workshop to be very helpful and gave me a different outlook on the entire program.

Terrence Robertson, Director/Personal Trainer Iron Evolution, Northland, New Zealand

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, 2005 80-85 kg 2nd place New Zealand Bodybuilding.

The course helped me simplify the progression toward instruction people in perfect technique. The RKC instructors were very thorough, with a subtle demand toward getting respect. It was worth every cent, in fact in my experience, priceless.

Erik Brown, Sports Performance Specialist, Fort Worth, TX

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

High school and collegiate baseball player (TCU), 10 yrs. experience training high school to professional athletes and healthy population clients. CSCS certified.

I've been training for over 10 years, and this was the hardest, most rewarding certification training I have ever gone through.

The level of knowledge was truly amazing. The Sr. Instructors were easy to talk to, and were a fountain of credible knowledge.

I have experience in kettlebells, but this workshop cleared away some of the grey areas I had in my knowledge and application in the use and teaching of kettlebells. This workshop by far the best I have been to in terms of material covered and the ability to immediately apply these lessons.

Thom Constable, Personal Trainer, Victoria, BC, Canada

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

BA, BCRPA Certified Personal Trainer.

It not only taught me the correct way to move kettlebells, it taught me the correct way to move.

High quality instruction in which Pavel and the other instructors did not hoard their knowledge. The lectures where extremely helpful and enjoyable.

Andy Salazar, Personal Trainer, Tulare, CA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

ISSA certified personal trainer, Guaranteed Fit certified personal trainer, B.A. Physical Education The Master's College, 4 years of college baseball.

Awesome, I learned so much about full body tension, and the benefits of KB training. The hard style of KB training is the ultimate in fitness. I would not hesitate to do it again. All of the instructor's knowledge and skill is absolutely amazing.

The training is the best I have ever experienced, and the knowledge of the instructors was great. It is not some online certificate course, you actually learn things and can apply them.

The best in the industry no other cert. compares. People and fitness professionals are missing if they do not attend one.

Dustin Silveri, Assistive Technology Supplier, Reno, NV

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

I tore my ACL, and have no knee cartilage, and I found kettlebells were the only thing that I can do safely with low impact on my knee. Because of kettlebells, I feel my knee is twice as strong as it was, and I feel better!

It is 3 days of simple yet effective teaching of the basic principles of training with kettlebells. Come in not knowing anything and leave with good technique. Come in with good technique leave with better technique.

NOT ONE BAD THING CAN BE SAID ABOUT THE RKC! That being said, the instruction, the information taught is so helpful in my own training. I don't train clients, but in my own training, it has helped me to make my technique safer and stronger, more power, speed.

I have taken workshops by other "kettlebells instructors" whom I choose to not mention'.. NO COMPARISON! The manual is amazing, the instructor to student ratio is perfect as well.

Will Fish, Firefighter/Personal Trainer, North Kingstown, RI

It was a very positive experience, one that will have a huge impact on how I train myself and my clients with kettlebells.

The quality of instructing was top notch every instructor who lectured said something I know I will be able to use. My team leader Franz, and his assistants, Spencer and Greg were all very knowledgeable and gave the group honest feed back on our performance.

This is my second time through the RKC (April 05) and I think the program has evolved to an even better teaching program than it was before, and it was the best then.

Dietrich Dejean, Personal Trainer, Reno, NV

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Personal trainer for 9 years, trained over 5000 clients. Owner of Dietrich Fitness and Performance

A superb experience to receive knowledge and implement teaching dynamics with kettlebell training. It helps promote quality training (myself personally and others) by giving comprehensive explanation to become better.

The RKC Training is by far the best when speaking in terms of teaching, application, and quality of material. It's (RKC) more detailed; more in depth for applying technique and visual instruction. This is especially true with paradigm shifts involving functional training and general fitness.

Jillian DeAguero, Restaurant/Bar Owner Operator, Louisville, KY

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Practice Yoga, Pilates, Belly Dancing

I'm not sure where else you can go for training and get as much out of learning about fitness/body, etc. in 3 days.

The instructors take the certification of other instructors very seriously. They make sure that they cover many aspects of a technique with you, so that you have an understanding of it. Bottom line is they make sure you know how to do the technique and how to teach it without injuring yourself or someone else. I really enjoyed talking with different instructors because they come from different backgrounds in the field and you get many perspectives. The instructors were also very knowledgeable in different concentrations, therefore I gained knowledge about the body.

David Bickel, Personal Trainer, Business Owner, Scotttsdale, AZ

ASU B.S. 1988. Lifetime Teaching Certificate, Arizona CommunityColleges State of AZ, Secondary Ed. Certificate
NASM - Certified Personal Trainer

I had read the books, watched the DVD's, and practiced for months with the kettlebells and thought I was pretty sound. After the training I would say that my effectiveness with the kettlebell drills is 100 times better. I usually feel lucky to gain 1 or 2 insights out of a seminar, the entire weekend was golden.

The instructors were all very knowledgeable and effective. I personally found Franz's teaching style to be most effective for me.

The RKC Training was by far the most useful and practices training I have ever experienced. Many of the other courses spend so much time on fancy terminology and very little on anything useful. Everything I learned this weekend was directly applicable to my clients.

Nate Black, Student, Rocky River, OH

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

4-year collegiate baseball player, train mixed martial arts

Pavel is an amazing teacher and is a master of fixing technique quickly. He is very down to earth and easy to talk to. How anyone could question his character boggles my mind.
Chris Holder did a great job with our team. He is very personable and probably the best coach I have been around. Marty and Joe Pavel also were great.
Brett Jones and Kenneth Jay made outstanding presentations.
Doug Nepodal is just cool.

Andy Whitney, Personal Trainer, Royal Oak, MI

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

20 years of playing baseball, ACE personal training certified.

It challenged one in ways I rarely challenge myself. I walk away a better, smarter, stronger man.

All instructors excellent. I appreciated that they all came from various background with various experiences. Being able to interact, ask questions, was most useful.

I have attended great workshops on baseball and golf training. This is right up there. It is favorable because the message is intended to be the most simple.

Brett Gauld, Draftsman, Buellton, CA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Cal Poly Football '01-Ô05

This was the most physically and mentally demanding three days of my life. However, the wealth of knowledge that was packed into those three days was worth it.

I played football for 13 years. In those 13 years I never had a coach who was more willing to help than the Instructors I had this weekend. I really enjoyed what Pavel had to say both on and off the field. Brett Jones nail bending and card decking ripping was awesome to witness as well. There is not one bad thing I could say about any of the instructors.

This form of training was very demanding compared to the typical Olympic style lifting I have done in the past. I like the fact that this style of training/conditioning can be used for nearly any aspect of sports or medical rehabilitation. The fact that it's so versatile is what I like.

Tim Anderson, Fire Fighter, Fuquay-Varina, NC

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Fire Fighter since 1999, ACE certified Personal Trainer since 1998, Kettlebell lover since 2004.

This course was a real eye opener on execution. Following the books and videos to my absolute best ability and understanding still left me lacking in my ability to nail the kettlebell drills. Now I understand I have so much more to learn.

I think Pavel is great. His knowledge of the body and how it works is amazing. He communicates very well in that he can bring things to my level of understanding. He also takes time answer questions and work with individuals. The Senior Instructors also obviously take pride in the RKC and what they do. They were committed to us and gave us every opportunity to perfect our skills and knowledge.

There really is no comparison. I've never experienced such a level of detail and information. Nor have I experience such pain in something I pain money to attend. Yet, I loved it.

Eric Cimrhanzel, Student/Fitness Trainer, Houston, TX

The RKC has completely validated what I've done with my clients and U.S. Military Officer Candidates for the past few years. Though this course seems to go against the grain of what passes for mainstream fitness, this is a god thing. Most other "certifying" agencies need to wake up.

All instructors were very open with their knowledge, holding nothing back. Pavel, Brett, and Jay are walking encyclopedias of training and the workings of the human body.

I had a great time, learned a lot, and met some awesome trainers. What more do you need?

Ladd Dension, Thompsons Station, TN

This was one of those paradigm shifting moments in my life. Although it was grueling throughout you cannot help but have that eye opening smile on your face. Just like when you discover hidden treasures.

It is hard to explain the knowledge and mastery of a true professional like Pavel. It is truly an honor to be able to spend any about of time with someone of his caliber. Every Senior Instructor and Team Leader where amazing. They all here able to add their personal experience to the mix.

There is no comparison! It is at least a masters or maybe a PHD in strength!

Louis Towkaniuk, Martial Arts Instructor, Fallbrook, CA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

3rd degree black belt. FIGHT certified instructor, Tae kwon do certified instructor.

Fantastic, I thought I had an above average knowledge of kettlebells, after going through the certification I realized I had merely scratched the surface.

Pavel's knowledge is amazing, and the talks and explanations by the other instructors were great and very helpful. Plus I didn't notice a lot of big egos from the RKCs or the participants, which can be unusual in our type of business.

Right up at the top of the list. The whole weekend flowed really well, and I appreciate the finer points that were covered.

Trey Goodwin, USAF Honor Guard Ceremonial Guardsmen, Herndon, VA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Prior AF Security Forces, Krav Maga

An amazing workshop that breaks kettlebells down in a way that you can't help but understand them. It really proved that kettlebells are a superior training tool for whatever your goal athletically or physically.

Amazing stuff! Great stories, experience, a knowledge in not only KB's but in all aspects of physical training.

Very effective and efficient at delivering large amounts of information in a short period of time.

Taikei Matsushita, System Enginer, Hirano Koutou-Ku, Tokyo, Japan

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Football(American) player, coach, referee, Brazilian Jujutsu 3 years, Krav Maga (Israeli Self Defense System) Green Belt

It has been something I targeted and prepared for 1 1/2 years. The best decision I've ever made and a turning pointing of my life.

Just unbelievable eyes to evaluate flaws and correction methods. I'm not even half there yet.

Andrew Freeman, Trainer, S St Paul, MN

It was a tough and grueling few days but it makes you proud to say you made it through. And proud to be an RKC.

I believe that Pavel and all the other Senior Instructors are incredible. They know their stuff but they also know how to teach really well. I like the workouts we did and the knowledge we were given.

This is my first one but I can almost guarantee that this one is the most hardcore. I enjoy that. It sucks at the time but you can be proud of making it through.

Josh Elliott, Sales Engineer for Carrie Corp, Catonsville, MD

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Won Championships in high school Ice Hockey. Played lacrosse in high school and 2 years in college. Began training with weights Sophomore year in college. Started training with kettlebells 2 years ago in August 2007

It's not only a kettlebell certification class, but a school of strength. I enjoyed all the work. it is instruction with intense scrutiny. Perfection is the life-long goal. I really enjoyed my interaction with Pavel and his hands-on approach. If I was worth every penny. The certification was certainly a challenge and difficult in a positive way.

I thought all the instructors were extremely knowledgeable and qualified. I liked how the use of kettlebells in their profession, but in different ways. They were hard on my form and with 3 days I noticed immediate results. I'm looking forward to applying what I learned in my own technique as well as others,

Really a great, challenging, and eye opening experience. I'm excited to see where this takes me. Never in a million years did I ever think I would be here. But here I am, stronger, smarter, and equipped to instruct everyone and anyone.

Tom Boyle, Retired Teacher, Cleveland, OH

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Rugby, Aikido

I really needed the feedback. Books and tapes help, but I needed someone to correct me.

Just amazing. The background and depth of knowledge is as wide as the Grand Canyon. The training almost seemed like it was individual.

Sean Cashman, Personal Trainer, Houston, TX

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

BS (Exercise Science), CSCS, background in numerous sports

It's a hands on practical experience far beyond any certification in the industry. Its physical nature is balanced with the text book understanding of the drills and system. This creates an in depth experience that is so valuable.

I thought it was fantastic. The way they expressed what they wanted out of you to the way they physically and verbally delivered it. Clear, concise, no fluff was the key (just like the kettlebell). Brett Jones was fantastic. I learned more from him in three days than I have watching videos and searching the web for a year. Thanks Brett.

Very comprehensive. Physically the most brutal but also the most rewarding. Quality was exceptional. Scope of material was great.

Travis Harwood, Student, San Luis Obispo, CA

One of the toughest yet most informative weekends of my life. Instructors are endlessly knowledgeable and approachable at the same time. A great way to end my college learning experience and begin my job as a strength coach.

Insane amounts of knowledge on all parts. I've learned more from listening to these people talk than at any other conference I've been to. This could be a normal sit in chair, listen a few hours and get a certification, but it is the highest level of hands on training one can receive.

Vincent Mays, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, SJSU, Santa Clara, CA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Football, Basketball, gymnastics, wrestling; Training- strength coach, personal trainer; Specialty — speed development; Military — 5 yrs (Air Force) Martial arts; black belt (1983); Professional certifications — CPT, CAPT, WRS, SAQ

This training is not a joke and is not for everyone. It'll separate the men from the boys and the women from the girls.

I have only scraped the surface of the knowledge of the RKC Leaders and learned something new with every drill.

Jeff Steinberg, Student/Accountant, Columbia, MD

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

1st Place- March, 2007 Tactical Strength Challenge, Men's Elite Category

Former President/Coach, UMCP Weightlifting Club
Deadlifted 600 lbs for reps at 168 lbs bodyweight without supportive equipment

Very good. I thought all the Senior RKCs were fantastically knowledgeable and helpful everyone was very warm and welcoming to boot.

The training by Pavel and the Senior RKCs was fantastic. They were all extremely knowledgeable with unique perspectives and experiences. I wish I'd run into 1 or 2 of them as a teenager and aspire to that kind of training ability.

Pavel, Brett, Rif, the Snideman's, etc. were all stand-up, classy people and it was great to meet them. I don't train people, but I'm still very happy I came to the course. I hope to continue relationships with many of the people I met this weekend.

Chris Netley, Crossfit trainer, Redlands, CA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

CrossFit level II, San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department Search and Rescue, Former Division 1 college soccer player,

The RKC is a valuable overall experience which has contributed to my knowledge and value as a trainer.

Pavel's knowledge and ability to teach is amazing. Every Senior Instructor was knowledgeable. I had the pleasure of working with Chris, who did an excellent job. I am extremely happy that I was put in his group. He communicated well and is very quick to correct mistakes.

Dawn Wittenberg, Personal Trainer, Minneapolis, MN

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

NSCA-CPT

Three days of RKC training spun me into a whole new dimension of hurt that I never knew I could enter. Now I truly know how hard I can push my body and I want to encourage others to do the same. We should all be so lucky as to know our limits.

This is a team that holds itself to extremely high standards.

The RKC training was comprehensive and very thorough. There were no holes left unfilled. The high standards the team holds for itself are expected from the student instructors as well. That makes for a successful program.

Paul White, Gisborne, New Zealand

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

General fitness, Bodyboarding, Martial arts, but it all comes down to conditioning, and Kettlebells is the path that I've searched for all my life, I don't want a normal life I want a KettleBell life.

What can I say, it's been a life changing experience, I've met heaps of people/friends from all different backgrounds. My knowledge in the Kettlebell system has increased 100% which for me will benefit my family, my friends, my clients, my community, my country and of course has made me a more happier and stronger person. Thank you Dragon Door.

To me all of these guys are inspirations and their knowledge surpasses anyone or thing I have ever experienced. Worth every dollar. I'm just glad they are willing to share it with me and bring people from around the world together to share something in common, Kettlebells are so ugly yet so beautiful.

Jim Collins, Home Inspector/Martial Arts Instructor/Gym Owner, Bozeman, MT

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

An exciting and painful experience, well worth it all.

Amazing, I gained more knowledge and refined my technique in short amount of time. All the instructors here are awesome.

Physically this was hard, but I gained an overwhelming amount of knowledge. It is definitely something very unique that I've never experienced before.

Most organized and professional certifications I have ever been to. 1st class!

Excellent. I have been in this business for 22 years and have been to many seminars and instructional workshops. Without a doubt this is the most informative and organized program I have ever been to. It is refreshing to see this many instructors who are all on the same page. Pavel's instruction and coaching is priceless.

Diane Salettel, Trainer, Bedford, OH

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

Owner — FlexAppeal, Flexbond business. Co- owner Bodies@work - onsite small business training. Ind. Contractor-Personal Training

It has made me take a hard look at my training techniques. I will definitely work harder to keep improving to give my clients quality a not quantity.

True essence of professionalism. I'm looking forward to reading Pavel's books and applying his techniques into my training.

I love how it was all hands on. I have been to certification training where you sit in lecture for 2 days. The instructors were very attentive and helpful in noticing even the littlest errors in form.

Jason H. Washington, Social Studies Teacher Seventh grade, Moriches, NY

Athletic background:

Wrestling high school and college, and have been coaching for the past 6-8 years.

The trainers are truly world class.

I would say, that it is the most detailed certification program I have ever been through. Also, love the fact that you can't pay for this training certification without being hands on. It really just makes sense.

Mark Erickson, Land Improvement Contractor, Vinton, IA

My experience this weekend during the RKC was life changing. I love nothing more then surrounding myself with others who strive to be there best when it comes to physical fitness. I believe we all have an obligation to lead by example for others to follow.

I thought the quality of training and knowledge of all the instructors was very high. They gave step by step instructions that were very clear and precise.

Cassie Charlebois, Personal Trainer, Vista, CA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

NSCA-CPT, ACE Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science, Triathlete/Cyclists

I am definitely glad that I was able to attend and have walked away with numerous tools that can be applied regularly. My experience has been overall very good and I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to growing in my area of work.

The overall quality and knowledge provided was great and very motivating. So much knowledge helps me to want to continue learning on my own. The experience and hard work of all instructors was shown.

The organization was key and I felt has a lot to do with a successful weekend. I have walked away with much more than many other training and tools that I will apply. The information is so practical no matter who you apply it to.

Renee Woods, Personal Trainer, Encinitas, CA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

I have been lifting weights for 15 years. I did two body building contests. I did Tae kwon do and instructed for 8 years. I am a 3rd black belt. I am currently a certified personal trainer and want to specialize in KB. I have 3 kids in sports and 2 dogs that show and compete so everyone in busy in my house.

Very detailed, good emphasis on breaking down each and everything we learned. Good and hard workouts!

Pavel is amazing he really is a great teacher. I also think all of the Sr. instructors are excellent and very quality. I think Pavel only expects the best so I learned so much from each of them.

I feel this has been top quality very, very good teaching! I am going to go home with a lot better ways to teach.

Rick Fugate, Maintenance, Construction, Musician, Eureka, CA

Athletic Achievements, training background or specialty:

I used to be a sissy then I got kettlebells.

A very demanding weekend!! (which is exactly what I needed) the instruction was clear, no question went unanswered. I was treated with a tough love that does not leave room for compromise and learned many things that I thought I already knew. I came loving kettlebells and I leave loving them more.

I thought it was high quality — they all exhibit a great deal of confidence in their delivery of knowledge — which makes it very easy to learn the first time. They have taught, I have learned.

This was extremely hard. I did not expect a back rub and I did not get one — so in that I'm good.
