I met with Nick this past weekend for a quick workout. He introduced me to kettlebells and showed me a few of the workouts that can be done using them. I had a great time I definitely learned a new way to go about getting a full body workout using simple to use equipment.
10/10 Happily sore

After the first class with Nick, I was sore in muscles and places where soreness had not been introduced. His instruction is dynamic, fun and unexpectedly challenging. Even the breaks are used to learn and apply. Nick knows how to explain himself clearly, and will find a way to teach you if you haven't got it yet. His emphasis on proper form throughout the classes brought me to watch and apply better form in all my workouts, simply making them better.

I have used Kettlebells sparingly throughout my workouts before, but Nick's instruction has most definitely motivated me to integrate them into my routine. I have participated in a wide range of "exercise classes" from many different instructors and I am happy to say that Nick ranks in the top percentage. His calm demeanor and patience helped me feel comfortable trying out new movement patterns. I enjoyed his verbiage and the way he used metaphors and examples to help me better understand the nuances of each exercise. He even taught me to juggle and slack-line in a very short amount of time. I enjoyed his knowledge of anatomy and his attention to proper form. His deep seated passion for health and well-being was very apparent to me, which in turn I found very motivating. I highly recommend Nick to anyone interested in Kettlebells or a stimulating conversation.
10/10 I didn't know what to expect ...

I didn’t know what to expect from a kettlebell workshop held over two 3-hour blocks of time. Come on … Really??? How much time could it take to learn or refine some basic swings, goblet squats and Turkish Get-Ups?
Nick did an amazing job of making the time fly, imparting quality information, training and/or refining technique and leaving me thinking, “Hey … there’s so much more for me to learn!”
Nick demonstrates a natural sense of pacing … something many instructors lack. He spends enough time developing a skill, leaves it before fatigue or information overload set in, and then comes back to it, often from a slightly different angle.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nick to anyone wanting to learn how to use kettlebells. His patient approach, vast knowledge and understanding about movement and body mechanics and ability to communicate nuances and subtleties of technique make him an excellent instructor.
I’m looking forward to taking more workshops from Nick and will recommend him to our friends.

I had used kettlebells in workouts for the last few years, but Nick was able to highlight specific form changes I could make to improve my experience and the effects of the different exercises. He is innovative, patient and insightful in his instruction. He is also a lot of fun, and the hours I spent in his seminar went by very quickly. I would highly recommend Nick to people of various ages and experience. Fantastic!

This was one of the best workouts I've had in a long time! It was intense and I'm looking forward to doing more with the kettlebells. I really appreciated Nick's calm, patient demeanor, his knowledge of anatomy, and his ability to explain and show proper body mechanics in a variety of ways until I knew I had it right. I also appreciated Nick's reinforcement of the basics and the importance of building a strong base before moving on. As a person who needs to do something a few times to get it down correctly, I was happy that Nick worked with me and adjusted me to make sure I had my technique and body mechanics down just right -- I never had to worry about injuring myself and was only sore in very good ways after the session!

Since kettle bell exercises are completely new to me, Nick's emphasis on the basics of body mechanics and the fundamentals of technique and form were definitely essential. The patience to build the basic foundation and reinforce it before attempting to move on is appreciated and will only become more important as I and students like me progress.

I had never worked with kettlebells before, but really enjoy it, now that Nick showed me some strength building exercises. He gives thorough and very knowledgable instruction in a manner that is both fun and interesting. I highly recommend his class to anyone interested in kettlebell training, whether they be a beginner or even someone looking to refine their form. Nick has a good eye for correct form and will help you to get the most out of your workout. Mixing in his understanding of body mechanics, anatomy and nutrition, help also to round out a most-excellent and productive workout. Thanks Nick.

I learned some basic kettlebell moves at a Crossfit gym in Santa Cruz, and at a SST gym in Sacramento a few years ago. Thirty minutes of working with Nick completely changed (improved) my swing-- I don't think I was using my hamstrings/posterior chain before.
Nick is a really good instructor-- he starts from first principles (how to distribute weight on the feet, etc.), and builds from there. He uses a lot of good cues to help a student make subtle changes, and is also very good at describing the "feeling" you should have in a move-- it is easy enough to imitate a swing, especially with a light bell, but Nick helped me understand how to recruit different parts of my body. I will definitely be taking another class with Nick.
