Aaron Larmore founded Fit2Live Gym in Iowa City. He currently is its Director of Performance. A highly sought-after fitness trainer and athletic development coach, his skills range from working with fitness enthusiasts to expertly training numerous professional and top level athletes from around the area. His professional experiences include working with some of the nation’s top strength and conditioning coaches including the Iowa football and Olympic programs, as well as former Husker Power strength coaches at Xplosive Edge in Omaha, Nebraska. I moved to Iowa from Oregon and had never heard of Kettlebell classes. I had been running and lifting on my own for about 3 months when I saw one of Aaron's fliers at the gym. I tracked him down and asked him about the class. He had me come to an intro class and that was all it took for me. I was hooked on the classes. Aaron's knowledge of the various exercises and the pace at which the classes are run make them very challenging and enjoyable. My strength in lifting and my stamina while running have both shown great improvement. If you have a chance to take one of Aarons classes don't hesitate, you won't regret it. Thanks Aaron!!!

I was very fortunate to have been one of Aaron's first guinea pigs. I did'nt know what I was getting into at all. But the kettlebell classes are amazing. Not only is Aaron a great instructor but the exercises themselves are awesome. Aaron knows how to get each individual motivated to his or her level. I had the oppurtunity to be in Aaron's firt class, it's addicting!! Aaron gets everone involved, makes the classes exciting and fun, no matter what shape your in. Aaron's Kettlebell sessions have been great for me. I started at 235 lbs. after the Christmas holiday and have trimmed down to 223 lbs. (March). The ability to get my heart rate up and work on my Core strength has really helped me in my quest to feel good about myself. I highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in a change up to your workout regiment. Aaron is an outstanding instructor who has been a pleasure to see two mornings a week.

Great for injury recovery

I started Kettlebell classes because of an ACL injury to my right knee. After nearly 10 months of rehab, I felt I needed strengthening beyond what I was able to do with machines. Aaron's Kettlebell classes are fitting the bill. He's great at making sure your technique is good so new injuries don't occur and as a 50+ yo member of the class, I still feel engaged in the class and I'm definitely starting to get stronger. My core and other extremities are also getting the best work-out of my life and it's a great time. I'm definitely hooked. He's good at encouraging and getting the most out of each individual's specific strengths and weaknesses. This is a great class and instructor.

If you want a work out that will challenge you to take it to the next level this is a great work out for you. I have been doing kettle balls for 6 months now and i can tell that with in that time i am in the best shape i have been in, in a long time. The fact is Aaron knows what kind of workout to give you great results. he is a great guy and have fun doing the kettle ball class or any thing he may teach you. What you need at my age is something new and exciting in the fitness world to keep you interested and challenged. I met Aaron and was intrigued by the Kettlebells classes, but apprehensive about trying them because of extensive knee injuries and surgeries. He assured me that it would only be an asset to the strength of my legs (which I desperately needed) and safe for my joints. With personal attention to me, and everyone else in the class, Kettlebells has been an amazing addition to my fitness life. I have never experienced such amazing changes in such a short time. Aaron's his kettlebell workout is challenging, fun, and effective. Everyone, from accomplished athletes to regular folks like me, will get excellent workouts from his program. Kettlebell exercises provide a great full-body workout at any fitness-level. I am not very coordinated or athletic, and I really don't enjoy weight-training at all, but over the last year and a half, Aaron's kettlebell program has helped me tone and increase overall fitness--and I had fun doing it! This is due to the effectiveness of the kettlebell program but mostly because of Aaron's tremendous motivational skills. He tailors the workouts to my fitness needs and pushes me to challenge myself and my fitness, and his encouraging attitude keeps me coming back and working harder. And the results speak for themselves: I've lost almost 15 inches!

Aaron Larmore's kettlebell class is everything I look for in a complete body workout! It is a great way to build strength while still getting the cardio aspect. Aaron makes the workout environment fun and energizing and his class is by far the HIGHLIGHT OF MY WEEK.
Being a full student and working part-time, it was hard to find a workout that fits into my schedule while producing the desired results. Aaron's Kettlebell class was the answer to my prayers! My only regret is that I wish I had discovered Aaron's workout sooner because I know that with Aaron's GUIDANCE and UNIQUE workout plans, I would have been a ten times BETTER ATHLETE in high school.

I am am an elite boxer, and have been training for 7 years. Two years ago I began training with Aaron, and for the past year we have been using mostly Kettlebells. Since working with him I have seen a huge jump in overall strength and explosive power. I came to Aaron knowing very little about weight lifting, putting on muscle or staying in shape. After about 5 minutes of chatting with him he had a complete plan worked out for me including a class called kettlebells. I'm 20 years old, a firefighter, and I have begun training for the Army's Special forces and I can tell you that I wouldn't trust anyone besides Aaron to help me bulk up. I met Aaron when I was struggling with a chronic disease and facing surgery. He took great interest in my situation, worked diligently with me and had infinite patience with someone who hadn't seen the inside of a gym for several years. He challenged me, cajoled me, laughed with me and in the span of 18 months, created a whole new me! Kettle bells and Aaron-what can I say that hasn't been said in the other comments? His attention to detail in the technique of the bells keeps me injury free. He is always changing the routines so that it is never boring. His personal attention to all of us, challenging us to be the best we can be makes his work a stand-out in a vast pool of trainers. I lost 70 pounds, went down 4 dress sizes and avoided that surgery. I am fortunate to have been personally trained by Aaron in a traditional gym setting, then on the kettlebells. In both cases, Aaron is extremely good at what he does, and creates challenging and effective workouts. His kettlebell workouts are killer, and I was constantly amazed at what great strength and conditioning gains I made in such little time. Aaron is a great kettlebell instructor. I started taking the kettlebell course to add some change to the workouts that I was doing, and it has been a great experience. Aaron's kettlebell classes have been great. If you want a workout that pushes your heart rate and builds core strength and flexibility his kettlebell class is for you. Aaron does a remarkable job of mixing up the exercises to work all parts of your body always using your core as the starting point. The Kettle Ball classes with Aaron have been amazing! Usually in fitness classes I'm always looking at the clock to see how much longer we have until it's over. Aaron does a nice job of changing things up for every class so that we aren't "bored" doing the same routines over and over again. He does an excellent job of pushing us above and beyond what we expect from ourselves, and in turn making us feel like we are getting results more quickly. Since taking his classes, my core is stronger and I feel MORE FIT than when I was a collegiate athlete at the University of Northern Iowa. My body is toned all the way up and down. Aaron is so great, I can't wait until the next class!

When a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to join a kettlebell class I was very apprehensive. I am not an athlete. The thought of running in out of the rain exhausts me sometimes. As someone fast approaching 40 I realized it was time to do something, anything! So I joined Aaron's class. I was pleasantly surprised. Aaron was funny and motivating at the same time. He took a class of athletes and girls like me and made us all feel good about ourselves. The workouts were intense and made me sore in places I didn't realize could be sore but I left every class feeling good about myself and anxious for the next one to begin. Immediately, I was interested in Kettlebells after hearing Aaron give a lecture regarding the benefits associated with Kettlebells. I joined the gym to get back into exercise after a 3 year hiatus. I met Aaron in this process, I had never heard of Kettlebells. He pushed me further than I had expected I could go in my very first session. His dedication to my well-being and my ultimate goals made going to the gym the best part of my day. Aaron is a great motivator & doesn't listen to any whining. I had a goal to run my first half marathon. Aaron helped me with the strengthening so I would have power while running. He also set goals for me during the week for running so I would stay on track of the amount of miles I needed each week. I had a time I wanted to complete the marathon and with Aaron's help I accomplished my goal. The kettle bells are really neat even though I do get scared thinking I will drop them on my head. Aaron always knows the exact weight I am able to handle and pushes me so I improve with each lesson. It is amazing how it does cardio and weight strengthening at the same time. I am a nurse at a hospital and one night lifting help was requested for moving a patient weighing over 350lbs. I was the only person available so when I entered the operating room to help move the patient the surgeons laughed since I am not very big. Well they were not laughing after I lifted higher than any of the others. I might be small but I am mighty due to Aaron.

I was introducted to Kettlebell through my mom. We have done 3 sessions together. I was having terrible lower back pain before I started; however, after a few sessions with Aaron it was feeling much better. I have done Tae Kwon Do for about 20 years off and on, but this is a totally different workout. In no time you can feel the results. Not only did I feel better and move without the pain in the lower back, but I was losing inches,weight, had an increase in energy, getting toned and building muscle. I have not experienced such a fun and exciting time of working out. If you get to the point of exhaustion or don't feel like going on, he pushes you and you get that extra step done. It's fun and I look forward to doing it again. I would highly recommend you try it.The only thing you will be out is weight/inches and have so much to gain- muscle, energy and a work out.

Best Way To Get Toned

I was looking for a way to exercise and get toned, when I came across Kettle Bells. In no time your heart rate gets up and you can feel your muscles getting a work out. I've taken 4 sessions with Aaron and have found the workout that truly works. My muscles have gotten toned and I've lost several inches. After working all day and feeling worn out you can go into a Kettle Bell class and sweat and get a great work out in a short time and walk out feeling revived. It has helped build the strength in my arms and legs. Aaron makes the class fun so you don't always know how hard you are really working. He knows how to get you to give it your all. I've told family and friends about his class and would suggest it to anyone who wants to get a great workout with results.

I tried Kettlebell because I have a neck condition that limits the exercise I can do with out causing pain. It was very hard at first and Aaron let me start at my own pace. To my surprise I was able to do two 4 week sessions and had almost NO neck pain at all. Best I felt in 5 years.
We had several levels of experience and fitness in the groups I attended and Aaron was able to individualize for people w/o slowing a session down.
Aaron even works with my high school daughter for strength training and she loves the challenges he gives them.

Aaron does a fantastic job teaching the classes. Its fast paced but he takes time to correct movements and stances. I highly recommend his class, to anyone, from the smallest to the largest person; you will make gains. In one 8 week class I added at least ten pounds to every freewieght lift I was doing. Your body becomes more toned and your cardio improves also. So if your workouts have planed off and your not seeing the gains you want, take Aarons class, if your just starting to workout, take Arrons class, and most of all if your wanting something new and fun, take Aarons class.

I was lucky enough to work with Aaron for several months, and the results were nothing short of amazing. As a 29 year old rugby player I find that my body doesn't recover as fast as it once did and that I have to work twice as hard to compete with younger players. I first started working with Aaron and kettlebells last year because I was looking for a workout that would prepare my body for rugby and the contact involved with the sport more than just lifting weights. Aaron's kettlebell classes have improved my explosiveness, core strength, balance, and helped me maintain my cardio year around. I worked with Aaron for a few months and found his classes to be excellent. Aaron has a mind for structuring a class so that the workout is optimum, there is always knowledge gained, and makes it so enjoyable that the time goes too fast! I have been a competitive swimmer for over 40 years but had to take a brief hiatus after being diagnosed with liver cancer and receiving a liver transplant. I had lost a lot of strength, endurance, coordination, and self confidence. For 2 1/2 years after my transplant I have been lifting, swimming, biking, running, and doing countless exercise classes. I was searching for "The Magic Bullet" that would catapult me back into the shape I once was. Everything I did improved my health, but not to my satisfaction. Now I truly believe Aaron has introduced me to THE form of exercise that will be the catalyst to help me transform myself back into the swimmer I know I can be. His expert instruction, plus his calm encouraging demeanor, makes his classes fun and exciting. He truly cares about everyone in his class, and everyone for him, and it is evident in the effort and determination his students show. The class is filled with individuals of all levels of fitness, and Aaron can instruct to everyone equally, so everyone gets their maximum possible workout. Everyone gets the same amount of attention, and although the term "easy" and Kettlebells don't mix, he tailors the workout to everyone's need, even the beginner.

I suffered a back injury. I am a late-40-something and was keeping weight off by running, but did no strength training. In my job, I mostly stand by a counter or sit in a chair. I thought I was in OK shape (because of running), and then I lifted something I shouldn't have. After months of back and leg spasms, climbing stairs was difficult, running was impossible. My family doctor referred me to a neurosurgeon for a blasted disk, but I really wanted a better alternative than back surgery. So I decided to look for a trainer, and Aaron's bio included rehab on sports injuries; I immediately signed up for a few sessions. Aaron explained possible causes of the injury and developed a treatment plan of progressively more intense stretching exercises and core fitness workouts with kettlebells. Aaron fully explained each movement with the bells and how to increase repetitions and weights progressively to increase my strength without further injury. I cancelled my doctor's appointments. After a year, I continue with classes and also have my own set of bells at home. Aaron's classes help to keep motivated and add new excercises, and he continually suggests changes in improper or potentially harmful techniques. I have been pain-free for many months now and really consider myself to be in the best shape since college (probably better).

Aaron has helped me to become a more well rounded sailor. I don't have a lot of time when I am deployed to workout. Aaron showed me some great kettlebell workouts that have helped me maximize the time I do have to workout. Concentrating on endurance I have been able to keep up my run and swim times while not actually running or swimming while I was in the desert. The well rounded workouts that Aaron catered for me helped to keep me in prime physical shape while in a combat zone. thanks again buddy.

Aaron is the person that introduced me to kettlebells. I did a few workouts with him and took some of his kettlebell classes. After that I was hooked on the kettlebell. I have 12 of my own now. Not only does Aaron do a great job of teaching kettlebells, he also has a very wide knowledge of health and the human body and how it works. In his kettlebell classes, Aaron does a great job explaining each exercise and then showing the different techniques and how to do each one. Classes with Aaron were never dull and boring. Aaron always had new and challenging exercises so that everyone in the class, regardless of fitness levels, would be challenged. Aaron is a motivated trainer that is dedicated to making everyone he works with feel like they are the best. With his knowledge and ability to teach people and encourage them, I would definitly recommend Aaron as a kettlebell instructor and personal trainer.

Finding Aaron and kettlebells were a winning combination for me. While working with Aaron, I lost about 10 lbs., several inches, and received countless compliments on my appearance. It really made the difference that other workouts hadn't done in the past. Aaron really knows how to keep the class interested, motivated, and create the right balance of hard work and a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. He was great at handling classes filled with people of all different abilities, and knew instantly how to keep you challenged, when you could accomplish more, and how to push you to your limits. I usually walked out of the class feeling taller, because my abs were engaged almost the entire time, and also because I was proud of my accomplishments. Aaron made a point of knowing everyone personally in the class, so you almost felt like it was a one-on-one session. Terrific teacher!

When I first met Aaron, I told him I needed to get back into shape for college volleyball after taking a year off, so he suggested I join the kettlebell class. At first, I was unsure that kettlebells were going to provide the cardio workout as well as the strength workout I needed, but I was wrong! I was in a class with people who had completely different needs than I did, but Aaron was flexible and created a workout that challenged each of us specifically. After 8 weeks, I gained tremendous strength, the explosive power I need for volleyball, and was ready to take part in conditioning with my new team. As well as physically motivating us, Aaron always encouraged us and pushed us to believe in ourselves and go one step further. I would recommend Aaron's kettlebell class to anyone of any age!

Aaron has taught me how to use the Russian Kettle Bells on a multitude of levels. He has demonstrated how they can be used as a precursor to facilitate the difficult movements implemented in power lifting, how they can be used with the general population regarding strength training, that they are a fun alternative to traditional weight lifting, and how they can be used in my own work out regiment to shock my muscles and avoid complacency that can come with traditional work outs. The Kettle Bells allow me to train large muscle groups rather than isolating one or two muscle groups for a total body work out that calls upon both my cardiovascular and strength endurance. The knowledge that he has given me has greatly changed the way in which I approach exercise prescription and planning even in my own workouts.

Aaron's ability to lead either myself in a one-on-one setting or an entire class is second to none when it comes to kettlebells. I first experienced him as a personal trainer and didn't have any concept (and was somewhat skeptical) of what kettlebells were or what they could do to punch up my overall fitness. But, now that I have been convinced to include kettlebells in my workouts with him, I am sold on both his ability to train me and that kettlebells are one of the best ways to increase strength and fitness at the same time. Aaron was been paramount in my conversion and I don't know what I would have done with out him!

Aaron earned his RKC, and as some standout candidates are, he was recalled for duty as an Assistant Instructor at the April 2007 RKC in St. Paul. During these 3 days Aaron displayed an uncommon degree of discipline while disposing of the trainees like a coroner with spent latex gloves. He layeth smack down on all 8 subjects in our group even before I gave the order, and he could not get enough. When the General called me in to prep the massive attack on the entire class, Aaron took charge of my post and did an outstanding job in the process. This young man is fully capable of taking the safety and welfare of any student into his good care, and delivering a solid product on the other side of the training.

I met Aaron while I was searching the ACE website for trainers, I was looking for a trainer to come into my home to work with me because of the extremely difficult hours I had at work made it impossible for me to make it to a gym to work out. He introduced me to kettlebells and I have been hooked since. He is very knowledgable, enthusiastic and fun to work with. He is also very flexible with finding time for me to workout!!! Now that I have a more set schedule I have moved to taking the kettlebell classes at his gym--wow!! The open gym allowing for advanced cardio + strength training has really kicked my workouts into high gear. I never get the same cardio work out with free weights or machines like I do with the bells, its so nice to get both those workouts in one! Aaron really focus's on technique and is always taking into account proper form especially if you've suffered an injury. The definition I see in my muscles has significantly improved since being involved with Aaron and kettlebell training. Aside from the above though, Aaron is one of the best trainers because of his great personality, his fun encouraging disposition makes it easy to make it through even the toughest of workouts!!

Last winter I joined Aarons kettlebell class, it is the best decision I have made in regards to my fitness and health. I have found kettlebell to be the most efficient workout I have ever done! It's challenging, a great cardio workout as well as a strength training workout. On days I'm not doing kettlebells, I may put in 2 hours of exercise, doing a cardio workout, then a strength training workout. Aaron will put me through a class where I feel I have accomplished the equivalent of those 2 hours in half the time. Aaron motivates me. He pushes me. He makes me feel great about myself and what I've accomplished. Aaron has a way to make you work hard and have fun at the same time! Each class is different, I'm always impressed with his knowledge and how he mixes up the classes. I look forward to my classes with him! Aaron knows the people he's training. He takes care to modify when heath issues warrant. I trust him so much that Aaron is also training my son. He takes great care with all athletes completely, from their training, to any special health concerns, to their nutrition. My son has realized gains in strength and his overall fitness level. Aaron is the trainer, all around, the best!

Aaron Larmore is a very knowledgeable and professional individual when it comes to working with the individuals that take his classes or the athletes that attend his camps. I have attended some of Aarons kettlebell classes and have been extremely surprised and pleased with how difficult the training can be with the correct instruction. Aaron is very creative and energetic when leading his classes and keeps the people motivated and interested during the classes. Aaron is a great instructor with a great sense of humor. I had the opportunity to have him as a instructor last summer. And he came to the park in my hometown to give a group of women a kettleball workout for two sessions. I was looking to get toned up and it worked well in my arms. I had muscles that I never had before. He gives great workouts and seems to be very knowledgable about kettleball. I would highly recommend him for your kettleball workout!

I have been working with Aaron for a year and a half. Aaron introduced kettle bells too me. I am continually amazed with his vast repetoire of kettle bell exercises. He knows a ton about strength training and kinesthetics and has the experience as a trainer to put his knowledge in to action. Another one of Aaron's great qualities is that he is a real people person. He always knows when to push and when to back off and offer support. He is very professional and he continually challenges me, even as I enter the professional ranks of boxing. Through my work with Aaron, I have at least doubled my strength in every muscle group. Aaron Lamore is well-known around here as the best there is in personal training, but you really need to have some sessions with him to appreciate his talent, dedication, professionalism, and expertise fully. Aaron is a terrific trainer who knows how to motivate (often with humor) and craft a routine that is exactly what one needs. He knows how to push you to the limit of what you are capable of (and maybe go a bit beyond what you formerly thought you could do). His workouts are varied and imaginative and provide thorough and complete exercise. I never heard of a kettlebell until I started working with Aaron. Now we even have three kettlebells at home and know how to use them. Aaron is a life-changer, a complete pro. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to work with and learn from him.

I took Aaron Larmore's Kettlebell class this past year to get ready for my wedding in July. I have been a lifelong athlete and active person, and I love a physical challenge. I was not prepared for how amazingly difficult, yet fun, this Kettlebell class would be. The workouts changed every session, and Aaron was never lacking on enthusiasm and encouragement. He was in a partnership with every person in the class- making sure that he did all he could to help them reach their goals.
