Delaine Ross: Biography
I began kettlebell training at Iron Core in La Jolla, CA under the instruction of Brett Jones, Senior RKC and Sarah Lurie, RKC. I feel very fortunate to have had hands on training by such experts!
Kettlebells have been a great tool to use during the training for fitness shows since they give you long lean muscles. If you are interested in using bells to train for competitions, shoot me an email!
I also just goI assisted at the September 2007 and October 2008 RKC's and will be going to the RKC II in June of this year. I will also be going to the Level II (I-phase) Z-Health certification that month.
I opened Condition Kettlebell Gym in Atlanta, GA in October 2007. Check out the site at www.gymcondition.com. RKC's Stephen Belan and Diane McCoy also teach classes there when they aren't busy being attorneys and graphic designers.
Stephen and I will be shooting a Beginner's Kettlebell DVD this Spring - to be released in July - spinning kettlebells to busy professionals. We are using what we have learned teaching kettlebells to the Atlanta working person over the past year and a half.

Excellent Intro Workshop and KB Gym!

I just completed an introduction to Kettlebells workshop with Delaine Ross at her Condition KB Gym in Atlanta. I've had KBs for years and never got much out of them. After 90 minutes with Delaine, a whole new world of fitness training opened for me and my corporate clients. My wife and I both attended the workshop and were completely satisfied with her gym and instruction as were the other introductory students. She has helped me behind the scenes on her own time to provide me with more information on kettlebells and their effectiveness so that I may inspire others through my website and articles to experience kettlebell training and fitness in Atlanta and beyond. Delaine is not only a great KB instructor, but also an ambassador for health! I highly recommend her training and gym in Atlanta. She was able to give me enough to successfully complete the "advanced" KB workshop by David Whitley at her gym just "one week" after my intro workshop with her! Two great KB workshops in just seven days...these two people changed my life and my view on fitness training forever! Delaine was very good instructor. I knew absolutely nothing about performing the movements correctly with a kettlebell, and didn't trust myself to learn only from a book. She took a lot of time and really helped me work on my form in the introductory sessions. She also made me feel welcome in the class. I would highly recommend Delaine and her gym.

I am not an athletic person and most of the time I feel pretty uncoordinated, especially amongst weights. My girlfriend suggested I try it and I was amazed that I felt so comfortable in the class. It's because Delaine has such a positive, laidback attitude. She's a great teacher and the atmosphere is perfect. Nothing about her classes or the training is intimidating instead you just feel like you want to do better for yourself (as opposed to impressing everyone else in class). Its so different from going into a typical gym setting where I used to feel like I had to wear a coordinated outfit and makeup!! Delaine just focuses on making it real and creating results.

I drove a ways to attend the Kettlebell Workshop. Delaine was a great instructor. She was informative and non intimidating while teaching you correct form. She would tell you your form was good if it was and correct you encouragingly if you were off. I enjoyed the atmosphere she projects and can't wait for her new gym to open closer to me.

I began working out with Delaine after I got bored with the the typical gym. From the first day I attended her beginners workshop, I knew this was a different workout. The workouts change each day. You never know what to expect walking into her gym from one day to the next. The only thing that's guaranteed is that it will be intense.

I was introduced to Kettlebell & Delaine Ross by an article I read in the AJC and after reading it I knew I had to try a class.
What I really liked about Delaine's studio was the mandatory workshop because at first glance Kettlebell can be intimidating and Delaine & Katie really made you feel comfortable and took the time to explain all the different types of routines future classes would incorporate.
In the few months I have been taking classes 2-3 days per week, I can already see a difference in my arms, so I am hooked!

It's easy to see, just by looking, that I'm not an athlete. For me a workout was carrying three new books over to the couch. So, more than anything, I'm surprised by my KB addiction.

For that I thank Delaine. - Each workout is different. (I'm easily bored.) - The rhythm stretches me, but I always make it, so I don't feel like a looser. - When I want more information she has it. - She has the knowledge, the expertise, and the control to handle 16 people, each at a different stage, in the same class, respectfully.
It seems there's not a day I don't tell someone about Delaine and kettlebells. The thrill of talking about KB comes second only to seesaw presses, since it's something no one would guess . . . just from looking.

i have never been one for going to the gym regularly. however, i heard a friend of mine talking about going to this KB workshop and how impressed she was after one session. i had to see what she meant, and i was not disappointed! delaine's workshop actually made me want to take up KB and get my butt to the gym 3x a week!
delaine's style is laidback, though hardworking, and she always gets a top notch workout out of her students. she is not stingy with her praise of good form, and is always willing to help out if you need a little extra coaching. delaine is also up to date on what her students having going on outside of the gym, and she is genuinely interested in them as people, instead of just paying customers. check out delaine and her KB gym in atlanta--her wonderful energy and in depth expertise will surely make you look forward to working out, instead of dreading it.

Delaine is an OUTSTANDING instructor! My wife and I attended the beginner workshop and it was a great experience. Delaine not only explained everything in simple terms but helped everyone in the class to grasp the correct techniques. She kept everything moving and very enjoyable! Great successes come from small details

I had the opportunity to train with Delaine for the month of July. I have been using KB's for 2 years; I have read all the books, seen the videos, and read the forums on Dragondoor. But NOTHING replaces real-life instruction. Eighty-five percent of what I did was correct but it was that last 15% that was limiting my improvement. Turn your hand like this, look here, and kick your hip out like this, were points I had read and thought I was doing but I wasn't. Those observations are priceless. I train solo because no one else near me trains with KB's, and attending her gym was a welcome change.

When I signed up for the kettle bell beginner's workshop, I was looking for an evening workout to add to the training that I was already doing (working with a personal trainer 3 times a week).
I had read all of the claims on the web site about the workout being efficient, dropping up to 1% of body fat a week and developing condition while improving strength. I was already pretty lean and in pretty good shape, so admittedly I was very skeptical.
I think Delaine spotted me as a skeptic right off... But instead of trying to prove me wrong right a way, she just smiled, showed me the various exercises and corrected my form when I did an exercise incorrectly.
I must say her knowledge impressed me, but her patience and teaching methods won me over! I am a Kettle Bell convert. Thanks Delaine!

Correct form in Kettlebell work makes a big difference in efficiency-allowing greater weight to be moved with less effort and risk-reducing chance of lower back, shoulder or elbow strain. Delaine is a small but efficient mover of Kettlebells and shows the potential of powerful hip snaps and perfect technique to levitate KB's. I have my own KB'S at home as well as the RKC books and DVD's, but it is Delaine's power as a motivator and teacher that has fired most of my progress.

I was introduced to kettlebells in January 08 and I haven't stopped since. Delaine's intro workshop was encouraging and educational. Then I started classes and in no time saw results. She has the ability to make the workout not only challenging but fun and safe. She is also good at modifying exercises for people with prior injuries. Although the class size has grown she is still able to give everyone the attention that they need. I have been so inspired by Delaine and kettlebells that I now own a pair and I even took a kettlebell on a week long cruise in May. And Yes I did use it in the gym 5 of the 7 days.

One Week Has Made A believer Out Of Me

Yes, just one week has made me a believer of this exercise regiment. I've tried it all and still when I attended my first kettlebell class I couldn't see how this would help me with any different conditioning that I've done before. Delanie is very knowledgeable and has a good demeanor. She takes time to help beginners and is very concerned with form and safety. Now I can stop spending so much time at the gym and still get attainable results. Yes I've gotten results already. Just one week - I used to have (3) rolls on both sides of my back now I only have (1) set of rolls! I'm amazed.

I used to hate the whole group class experience in traditional gyms. I was interested in Kettlebells from reading about them online and was very pleased to see a Kettlebell gym had opened near me so I decided to give it a try in spite of my hatred of classes. Not only was I pleasantly surprised I was hooked! Delaine makes the classes so fun and challenging and you can really tell that she is paying attention to each individual and their technique. Her encouragement also leads to personal improvements and I am doing things with Kettlebells that I never imagined 6 months ago.

If anyone, anyone other than Delaine had introduced me to kettlebells, I wouldn't have had anything to do with kettlebells. It looks hard, and I never believed I could lift something so heavy all by myself without hurting myself. Delaine had total confidence in me, and explained everything so easily, and now I'm in love with kettlebells! I can't put into words how enjoyable it is to be so strong, and know my form is perfect because I was taught by the best. . .Delaine!

I started kettlbells almost a year ago with Delaine. I signed up for the first beginners' workshop, and I have been hooked ever since. Delaine is a fantastic instructor and coach. She truly believes in all of her clients and continuously encourages them throughout the class. I think it says a lot that I have been with her for almost a year; I've never stuck with any exercise routine that long expect for dance. I feel that I've come a long way over the year. When I started I could barely press a 4kg, and now I solidly press an 8kg (hopefully it will be a 12kg pretty soon). I like the fact that Delaine pays attention to everybody, even the small details. She knows when you move up a weight for any exercise and encourages you to keep at it. I actually look forward to going to kettlebell classes.

I came to Atl. on short notice for business, and Delaine was kind enough to let me join a PM and AM session for the 2 days I am in town. She was quick to email responses too. Workout session was very focused, and very intense. Condition KB Gym is first-class, and Delaine was a pure joy to meet. Great leadership thru the workout. I like the whiteboard with the plan written out...that allows a person to really dread the next portion of the workout. :-0 Thanks for working me in, and I will plan future trips to Atlanta around your training schedule.

After training on my own for 2 years, studying the basic movements from the Enter the Kettlebell DVD frame-by-frame, and taping/studying my own movements, I figured I had the basics down pretty well. When I registered for the RKC, I thought I would see an RKC to make sure I was not grooving any bad patterns. I saw Delaine and I'm glad I did.
After demonstrating the movements with a light weight as well as I could, she immediately identified a half-dozen improvements to make them better. I could feel the difference and later, looking at the tape, see the difference clearly. With practice to reinforce the new movement patterns, I think I will be better prepared for the RKC than I otherwise would have been. I recommend her 100%.

I found Delaine and Condition Gym by reading about her in some newspaper article about lofts, of all things. I looked up the gym's website and thought, "Hmm, I should check out one of her beginner workshops, someday." Well, someday came about 6 months later when, at nearly 275lbs, I decided enough was enough.
I went to a beginner class and Delaine and Stephen proceeded to break-down the basic kettlebell movements. Their knowledge and passion about kettlebells was obvious and contagious. Not only do they explain how to do the movements but also why they work and why they should be done a certain way. I attended several regular classes then got a kettlebell of my own for use at home because my crazy schedule often makes it hard for me to get to the gym. Even at home, I just do the workouts I've done with Delaine in class.
The results have been ridiculous! In 4 months, I've lost about 30 pounds and added a lot of muscle. I have more energy for my "real" passion, partner dancing. I even fit into my climbing harness again, allowing me to add a night of indoor climbing back to my life every week. I still pop into the gym for a class on occasion for inspiration and because Delaine is great at pointing out the "little things" to help my form. Oh, and it's a kick-butt workout.
Definitely go see Delaine at Condition Gym but be prepared to buy a new wardrobe if you're looking to lose weight. I've had to and I'm not done yet!

I had been a self taught kettlebell enthusiast for a little over year when I first met Delaine. I'm thrilled to have found her. I had some concerns regarding my form at the time. I had been talking to a friend of mine who attends kettle bell workouts in Nashville, and he suggested that I try Delaine's gym (Condition Gym) in Atlanta. I went to the beginners class, and then attended several of her weekly classes where I was extremely impressed with her knowledge regarding Kettle bells and how she was able use that knowledge to help me with my form in the different exercises. While it is tough to get to her gym regularly (I live 60 miles away)and have purchased my own kettle bells so that I can continue at home, I am going to make it a point to attend whenever I can. I am also having my wife attend the beginners class so we can do this together and I can't think of a better teacher then Delaine.

Not much will get me out of bed at 5:30am after 4 or 5 hours sleep, but I'm usually up before the alarm on KB mornings. I actually wish Delaine offered more 6:15am classes.
Delaine's enthusiasm, knowledge and strong example inspired me to work out at Condition after taking an intro class on a whim.
A few months later, and I've made more progress than I had in the previous 4 years of running, cirucuit training and free weights. KB is a great tool for self-improvement, but only if you know how to use it -- Delaine will help you get it right!

Delaine was an instructor for our team at the San Diego RKC 2009. She helped our team through a grueling weekend that nobody would have survived without her help.
