10/10 Dr. Horwitz - One stop shop for sports injuries, sports performance, personal training, back pain

By Kevin / Northern VA

I have went to Dr. Steven Horwitz for chiropractic care, personal training, and rehabilitation since 1997.

I'm 38 and I workout six days per week but I don't know all of the exercises that develop the supporting muscles and am too lazy to stretch! Therefore, I hurt myself and I have to see Dr. Horwitz for therapy.

I tore a bicep muscle while bowling several years ago. So, I visited Horwitz and he told me that he thought I tore a bicep and advised me to see an orthopedic surgeon because he was not 100% sure. I got an MRI and had surgery. Dr. Horwitz's assumption was correct. Dr. Horwitz is not afraid to send someone to another doctor if he is not 100% sure of the injury.

I told a physical therapist that Dr. Horwitz told me to do "External Rotation" and "Internal Rotation" exercises for my rotator cuff, and the physical therapist said, "Your chiropractor is a smart man! Regarding the same exercises, an orthopedic surgeon (Dr. Gavin) told me last year, "That's a good exercise because there is only one muscle in there that does that movement". Dr. Horwitz also showed me exercises that develop the back of my shoulders because I was becoming curved forward.

I hurt my back so bad in October 2009 that I could not walk upright (I crawled to the bathroom). My back got better after three weeks and completing exercises that Dr. Horwitz taught me to strengthen my core. If 180 degrees is standing straight, I was only able to stand at 120 degrees when I woke in the morning (and it hurt), but I was able to stand at 170 - 180 degrees AFTER I did his core exercises.

Dr. Horwitz does not adjust your back and neck and send you to the door. Dr. Horwitz will determine what is causing the pain and use his expertise to help you strengthen or stretch the injured area. He is a one stop shop to help you with sports injuries, personal training, sports performance, accident injuries, and back pain. I'm sure he does more but I have seen him for my back and pains from lifting weights. He has also used Active Release Techniques on my shoulders and arms.

You will not be disappointed.
