Joshua Elliott: Biography
Kettlebells were introduced to me by a friend who was interested in alternative fitness. He put me through a single work out and I was hooked. I noticed results in a few days as my body began to redistribute its mass to accomodate for the change in training. After training with weights for several years this alternative solution to fitness was something I had to add to my regime. 2 years later I have instructed many and recently became certificed through the RKC certification. My goal is to help you achieve all of your fitness goals using perfect kettlebell techniques and the hard style of strength. I can bring the kettlebells to your home or meet at an outside location such as a park, field, or school. I can also train you at my place, which ever suits your schedule, comfort level, and convenience. I want to work hard to provide the fitness service you have been looking for in order to get the results you deserve. I promise that you will get everything you put into your training and more. The training will take your fitness to new levels. Please join me for a session as I instruct you on the basics of kettlebells and answer any questions you might have. I am available for group, couples, and individual training. The first session is free because I guarantee you will get hooked.

As a former intercollegiate football player, I have been around coaches all my life. Josh is as good of a coach as I have been exposed to. He really helped me make the adjustments in my KB technique for me to be getting the most out of the bell and help me reach my goals more quickly. My main goal is to become an RKC myself!

What is Kettlebells?? That is the question my family and friends always ask me when I tell them I am taking this class. This is the first class I've been truly excited about taking in a long time and I look forward to it every week. Josh is extremely motivational, positive and just challenges me to want to do more! If you don't know anything about kettlebells, check it out and learn more about it. And if at all possible, take one of Josh's classes...I promise you, you will not be disappointed!

Efficient effective workout Rated 10 out of 10
I am 100lbs over-weight and wanted something more vigorous than walking but couldn't devote much time with my 4-hour a day commute. I found Josh through the DragonDoor website and asked for 4 sessions to see if I liked kettlebells and to learn about them.
In one session I knew it was unlike any other workout. The movements were real; based on tasks and movements the body would normally perform, but a lot more challenging.
As an instructor, Josh used positive reinforcement to help keep me motivated, yet continually challenged me to do more than I thought I could.
I can see how this workout will help me more quickly achieve my fitness goals and it only takes 30 minutes. That's the best part for me.
I'm off to work on my own with kettlebells but will come back to Josh when I'm ready to take my workout to new levels.

Being someone who works out all of the time using various methods, I was excited to learn about kettlebells. Even with alternating my workouts between yoga, running and weightlifting, I still have problem areas that seem resistant to my best efforts, such as my inner and outer thighs and lower stomach. I was skeptical to understand how swinging a weighted bell around was going to give me the kind of workout I was used to, but after just one session I was convinced. During class I was excited to see the principals of core stregnth training combine with certain esoteric pieces of yoga and also with cardio fitness. The next day after my first kettlebells class I found myself being sore in places that even as a yoga instructor I didn't know how to stretch. Specifically my inner and outer thighs, stomach and sides. After just a few classes I noticed a difference in how my jeans were fitting, and could see that I was actually in the process of resculpting my body! People were starting asking me if I had lost weight and even made comments on the shape of my booty, no joke! I actually haven't lost any weight, it just appears that way because I've turned fat into lean muscle that takes up much less space and looks more firm. Needless to say, I'm hooked now, and wouldn't be without Josh's enthusiam, encouragement and expertise. Its nothing but fun having class with him and I look forward to it every week!

I was skeptical of Kettlebells at first... Rated 10 out of 10
...but Josh changed all that. As a former gym rat used to strength training with heavier weights, I had my doubts about whether or not Kettlebells would work for me. On the recommendation of a friend, I took a class led by Josh, and all my doubts were promptly erased. Josh is an excellent instructor - highly motivational and extremely knowledgable. Our class included a number of people with varying strength and ability levels, and Josh was able to make it worthwhile and effective for everyone. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes.

Yoga and Kettlebells: the perfect match! Rated 10 out of 10
As the yoga director of Blue Heron Wellness in Silver Spring, I was curious how a traditional weight lifting exercise class would fit into our yoga studios. Josh did a great job of explaining the benefits of the kettlebell workout and how it complements yoga. Yoga encourages flexiblity and deepens body awareness, yet if the muscles are not strong enough, then the joints take the brunt. Kettlebells helps to strengthen the muscles around the joints, thus protecting them. The kettlebell training also emphasizes "core strength" and using the breath to facilitate the movements. These are techniques are a great complement to yoga, and I have seen the benefits in my practice. Josh is a skilled instructor and is able to modify exercises to benefit the student, always emphasizing alignment and safety. After 6 weeks of taking group kettlebell classes with Josh, I feel stronger and more confident in my yoga practice and am grateful to have kettlebells as a part of our studio. Thanks Josh!

I'm telling everyone about Josh and my Kettle Bells Rated 10 out of 10
I've been working out with Josh for about 2 months. I wanted to get into KB's, but realized the form was so specific that I'd need a trainer to get started. Josh has been awesome from the start. He's clear, encouraging, and thorough. Every week he reviews some moves, maybe teaches another lift or two, and puts me through a workout rivaled only by wrestling practice. I go to his house and work out in his basement or back yard. I don't think I'd be where I am if I tried to get this stuff out of a book only. Having him right there to watch every nuance of my form has saved my body from injury and pushed me to grease the groove correctly from the start. I'm also sure that I would have pushed ahead and done things before I was ready. He's helped me practice smart and safe.

And I'm not kidding, I tell everyone about my KB's and my workouts with Josh. I'd be glad to send him more business.

My boyfriend and I met with Josh for our first 'couple workout' on Saturday. It was such a good session. Josh explained kettle bells, their benefits and the proper technique. He focused on our form and I really felt like we improved. At the end we did a "Combo" which was a circuit of 3 of the exercises. He rotated us through and was very motivational. 2 days later I can feel every muscle in my upper legs. This was the best workout I've ever had. I look forward to learning more with kettle bells. What a great way to get a complete workout in a short amount of time!

Josh spent several hours with me at my home teaching me various drills and helping me hone my form and technique. As he trained me, he kept a log of everything we did and wrote down things to focus on with each drill. It ended up being several pages of material. I have returned to his notes frequently

Since our session, he has given me more pointers and suggested ways to optimize my performance that include training techniques, nutrition tips, and supplement info (he previously worked in the vitamin/supplement industry, so he knows his stuff).

In short, Josh is a very knowledgeable instructor who takes a hands-on approach to make sure you get the most out of what you are doing.

Definitely time and money well spent.

I have been working out with kettlebells since April and I am hooked. My husband still thinks I am training with "cowbells" but that would be silly not to mention noisy! Seriously, over the years I have taken many different kinds fitness classes and I must say training with kettlebells is the best at providing an excellent workout in the least amount of time. In searching for kettlebell instruction, I was lucky enough to find Josh. He is very knowledgeable about the correct techniques (he is RKC) and his personality and enthusiam makes a challenging workout fun. Josh also works out along with you which helps motivate you to continue when you want to quit. He says "It takes hard work to look great otherwise everyone would look great! " (or something like that) If you want to get the most out of your workout, I recommend training with kettlebells and highly recommend Josh.
